Download or read book Love in Lowercase written by Francesc Miralles and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2016-01-26 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A feel-good novel for fans of A Man Called Ove and The Rosie Project, about an eccentric, language-loving bachelor and the cat that opens his eyes to life’s little pleasures The Silver Linings Playbook author Matthew Quick: “A delightfully absurd, life-affirming celebration. I literally stood up and cheered as I read the last page.” When Samuel, a lonely linguistics lecturer, wakes up on New Year’s Day, he is convinced that the year ahead will bring nothing more than passive verbs and un-italicized moments—until an unexpected visitor slips into his Barcelona apartment and refuses to leave. The appearance of Mishima, a stray, brindle-furred cat, becomes the catalyst that leads Samuel from the comforts of his favorite books, foreign films, and classical music to places he’s never been (next door) and to people he might never have met (a neighbor with whom he’s never exchanged a word). Even better, the Catalan cat leads him back to the mysterious Gabriela, whom he thought he’d lost long before, and shows him, in this international bestseller for fans of The Rosie Project, The Solitude of Prime Numbers, and A Man Called Ove, that sometimes love is hiding in the smallest characters.

Letter sound knowledge; 4. Letter writing ability. In addition, Alphabet Anatomy utilizes the four core elements which extensive research has proven effectively teach reading and provide a solid and effective foundation for proficient reading in later years: 1. Phonological awareness; 2. Letter identification; 3. Vocabulary development; 4. Recall and retell sentences and stories. Soon to come: Meet The Lower Case Letters
Download or read book XSLT written by Doug Tidwell and published by "O'Reilly Media, Inc.". This book was released on 2001 with total page 488 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you ever needed to convert documents from XML to HTML ? Or from one XML vocabulary to another ? Extensible Stylesheet Transformations (XSLT) provide a critical bridge between XML processing and more familiar HTML, as well as between XML vocabularies. XSLT demonstrates how to use this powerful, but complex, tool for a wide variety of conversions. Examples illustrate many different cases and techniques, giving you working code to explore and modify for your own purposes. Originally created for page layout, XSLT has grown into one of the tore technologies used by most developers processing XML. Through clear and entertaining explanations, this book shows you how to use XSLT as a general-purpose translation tool, a system for reorganizing document content, and a tool for generating multiple results (including HTML, VRML, and SVG) from the same content. Though XSLT is extremely useful, it can also be daunting to new users. XSLT uses an XML-based template syntax combined with a terse vocabulary called XPath that identifies how the template applies to the original document. The understanding of " variables " in XSLT is very different from the understanding of " variables " in procedural languages, for instance. Getting started with XSLT is difficult, and advanced techniques require a thorough understanding of how XSLT templates work and interact with one another. XSLT brings it all together, giving developers both a thorough tutorial and a reference. It examines both XSLT and XPath, a critical companion standard, and explores subjects ranging from basic transformations to complex sorting and linking. In addition, the book explores extension functions on various XSLT processors and how to combine multiple documents with XSLT. Examples demonstrate all of the techniques described. Examples also illustrate how to use XSLT to generate a ride variety of target document types, including HTML, SVG, JPEG, Java source code, and XSLT stylesheets.

Book excerpt: The Case of Scotch - Volume Three of the Casebooks of Octavius Bear, concluded with a triumphant singing debut at the Edinbeargh Opera by Octavius' and Bearoness Belinda's protégés Bearnice Blanc, a polaratura soprano and her baritone singing partner, Leperello, a highly talented Himalayan Snow Leopard. In this volume - The Lower Case - they arrive at Winnipeg, Manitoba to begin a North American tour. With them is Maury Meerkat, our narrator, Octavius Bear’s sidekick and talent agent for the singers as well as Bearnice’s twin sister Bearyl, a budding actress. Unfortunately, they are also accompanied by Honoria Heifer, a preposterously bad voice coach, mistakenly hired by Bearoness Belinda to aid the singers on their musical journey. No sooner have they arrived than the cow appears on a TV chat show and essentially says that the singers are light on talent and skill and that she, Honoria, has been totally responsible for their current rise in esteem and popularity. Bearnice and Lepi are enraged and storm out of the hotel lounge where they were watching the show, in pursuit of Honoria. Next morning, Honoria is found dead outside the TV station with her neck broken and several gashes in her hide. The singers are the number one suspects. Enter Octavius, Frau Schuylkill, Colonel Wyatt Where, Otto the Magnificent, Chita and L.Condor to assist the Royal Canadian Unmounted Police in finding the real culprits. Another murder, this time of an Arctic Fox, the personal assistant to the TV station manager, serves to liven things up even further. Are the crimes connected? It seems so but how and why? Populated by an assemblage of potential suspects both at the Opera and the TV station, the plot definitely thickens. Alternate universes play a major role in this volume.
