Book What Love Is This

Download or read book What Love Is This written by Dave Hunt and published by . This book was released on 2007-04-22 with total page 590 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many sincere, Bible-believing Christians are Calvinists only by default. Thinking that the only choice is between Calvinism (with its presumed doctrine of eternal security) and Arminianism (with its teaching that salvation can be lost), and confident of Christ's promise to keep eternally those who believe in Him, they therefore consider themselves to be Calvinists. It takes only a few simple questions to discover that most Christians are largely unaware of what John Calvin and his early followers of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries actually believed and practiced. Nor do they fully understand what most of today's leading Calvinists believe. Although there are disputed variations of the Calvinist doctrine, among its chief proponents (whom we quote extensively in context) there is general agreement on certain core beliefs. Many evangelicals who think they are Calvinists will be surprised to learn of Calvin's belief in salvation through infant baptism and of his grossly un-Christian behavior, at times, as the "Protestant Pope" of Geneva, Switzerland. Most shocking of all, however, is Calvinism's misrepresentation of God, who "is love." It is our prayer that this volume will enable readers to examine more carefully the vital issues involved and to follow God's holy Word--not man's teachings. "The first edition of this book was greeted by fervent opposition and criticism from Calvinists. In this enlarged and revised edition I have endeavored to respond to the critics." --Dave Hunt

Born into a Mormon Samoan family, Hunt details his harrowing early life, his troubled teen years, and his angry youth with no apparent future. After being plucked from an Auckland street fight and dropped into his first kickboxing bout, Mark went on to achieve unprecedented success in Australian and New Zealand combat sports. In an ongoing career that has spanned the globe, Mark Hunt has been in some of the UFC, Pride and K-1's most memorable battles. But in some ways those fights pale in comparison to that which he has overcome out of the ring and cage. As fearless with his opinions as he is in the Octagon, Mark pulls no punches in revealing the highs and lows of his extraordinary life.

Download or read book The Perilous Hunt written by Edith Randam Rogers and published by University Press of Kentucky. This book was released on 2021-12-14 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the symbolic language of ballads, a lady's costly dress tells of the beauty of the body beneath it or of the wearer's happiness; a lost hawk or hound foreshadows the hunter's fate long before the plot reaches a turning point. In her original and far-reaching study of such familiar narrative elements, Edith Randam Rogers adds much to our understanding of poetic expression in the ballad tradition. In focusing on individual motifs as they appear in different ballads, different languages, and different periods, Rogers proves the existence of a reliable lingua franca of symbolism in European balladry. Lines or even whole stanzas that have defied interpretation often come to life when the reader is aware of the meaning of a particular motif in such an international vocabulary of images. Thus this book makes available important new critical tools sure to have significant results for ballad scholarship.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a hunter, we are often misunderstood. aEURoeNormalaEUR people donaEUR(tm)t get up before the crack of dawn and head out into the woods. There is a passion, a desire that dwells within us that causes us to find enjoyment in what others would consider harsh. We are drawn by the call of the wild and find satisfaction in the sights and sounds of the outdoors. There is another call that we hear as Christians. The Holy Spirit beckons to us and we follow. To those who are not a believer, our actions seem odd. It makes no sense to them that we would want to serve others. They question how it is that we can value things that they give no regard to. We have a God-given passion and desire to search for our aEURoehighaEUR calling and fulfill our purpose as part of the body of Christ. As a hunter and a Christian, we see life lesson in all that God has created. This book tells tales of the huntaEUR"the good, the bad, the funny, and the lessons which God brought out of each of them.
