Covert agents from around the world, including a ruthless mole in the IHA, are drawn into a lethal game, . Book excerpt: Destiny stares at you in dreams then meets you in waking nightmares. Morgan and Brianna, two sixteen-year-old Irish girls, stumble upon a magical book hidden within the standing stones. Believing local mythology is just an interesting tale about immortal killers, vengeful gods, and age-old battles, they take the stories lightly...until the book mentions their ancestors and reveals the girls may be destined to fulfill an ancient prophecy. Discovering a deadly rift once split the fae and mortal realms as the result of a forbidden love between the fae and druids, the girls dedicate themselves to the book. A covenant with the gods had been broken, and the responsibility of restoring the worlds fell to the Gemini, descendants of the illicit lovers. These chosen caretakers of the elemental stones were challenged to protect the elements from the dark mystics. With a vow to destroy all the chosen, evil forces used black magic to release the daemon from the Underworld, and the Gemini went into hiding while the battles to find them raged on through the ages. Years later, psychics and profilers, all over the world, are being targeted for death. A historic pattern becomes obvious to a former FBI agent and an Irish psychic who, forced to join forces, are assigned to discover who or, more precisely, what is targeting psychics, and why. They also discover an improbable relationship linked to their past. Fae mythology isn't in the FBI training manual, but when a killer disappears into a solid stone wall, it's time for Graeme to re-evaluate reality. Recently, the pragmatic FBI instructor has a hard time dealing with the woman's thoughts seeping into his mind. Psychic or not, none of this can be real. More and more he’s convinced she's the same girl who's been in his dreams since childhood. Morgan only felt whole in her dreams when Graeme joined her. There is no doubt Graeme is her old imaginary playmate. What does it mean now that his thoughts are breaking through when she's awake? Even if he refuses to accept their connection, his presence in her mind is a comfort...until their shared dreams turn into nightmares.

Book The Sure Word of Prophecy

    Book Details:
  • Author : John W. Bradbury
  • Publisher : Solid Christian Books
  • Release : 2016-05-23
  • ISBN : 1533388296
  • Pages : 311 pages

Download or read book The Sure Word of Prophecy written by John W. Bradbury and published by Solid Christian Books. This book was released on 2016-05-23 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christian eschatology and prophecy are interwoven in the teachings of the Bible to such an extent that the knowledge of the first is limited to the extent that we comprehend the second. Every doctrine of the Christian faith has its conclusion or culmination in that future which is the burden of Biblical prophecy. An ignorance of this prophecy, or any perversion of it, seriously affects one’s concept of the pure faith. It is for this reason, therefore, that a clear Biblical expression concerning prophecy is necessary. Especially is it needed because confusion is increasing among Christians with regard to trustworthy teaching of prophecy, leading, as is usual in such cases, to lessened certainty in testimony and to decreased evangelistic zeal in winning the lost to Christ. With a view to rendering service to the Lord Jesus Christ and His Church, a group of believers, assisted or counselled by many well-known and trusted Bible teachers, decided to call a conference on the Christian faith in its relation to prophecy. Because of its wide capacity organizationally, its peculiar fitness to promote such a conference, and its ability to distribute benefits derived therefrom, the sponsorship rested with the American Board of Missions to the Jews. Under the direction of its energetic and capable secretary, Dr. Joseph Hoffman Cohn, the program for a Congress on Prophecy was carefully arranged and it was carried out in the Calvary Baptist Church, New York City, November 1-8, 1942.

Book Privilege and Prophecy

Download or read book Privilege and Prophecy written by Robert Tobin and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2022-04-05 with total page 387 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Episcopal Church has long been regarded as the religion of choice among America's ruling elite, helping to set the tone for the moral and social life of the nation during the twentieth century. Shaped by their experiences of the Great Depression and World War II, a new generation of Episcopal leaders emerged after 1945, eager to place their church in the vanguard of social reform and reconciliation. These liberal activists came to dominate the church's national structures during the 1960s and shaped its response to the civil rights and anti-war movements. They sought to reposition the Episcopal Church as a catalyst for progressive change. Even so, these leaders routinely neglected black, female, and working-class Episcopalians, even as they espoused the causes of equality and liberation in the wider society. This study focuses on forms of social activism and theological innovation pursued by members of the war generation. Attending to the development of such activities among the WASP elite provides crucial insight into their underlying assumptions about social and theological authority and helps explain their ambivalent response to the challenges faced in the 1960s and 1970s. Drawing upon extensive archival research, this book not only offers a group portrait of Episcopalianism's leading post-war figures but documents the ways in which their individual pursuits influenced the direction of the church as a whole.

Book The Puritan Literary Tradition

Download or read book The Puritan Literary Tradition written by Johanna Harris and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2024-07-09 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is meant by the Puritan literary tradition, and when did the idea of Puritan literature, as distinct from Puritan beliefs and practices, come into being? The answer is not straightforward. This volume addresses these questions by bringing together new research on a wide range of established and emerging literary subjects that help to articulate the Puritan literary tradition, including: political polemic and the performing arts; conversion and New-World narratives; individual and corporate life-writings; histories of exile and womens history; book history and the translation and circulation of Puritan literature abroad; Puritan epistolary networks; discourses of Puritan friendship; the historiography of Puritanism defined through editing and publishing; doctrinal controversy; and the history of emotions. This essay collection proposes that a Puritan literary tradition existed that was distinct from broader conceptions of early modern English and Protestant traditions and offers a nuanced account of the distinct and variegated contribution that Puritanism has made to the construction of literature as a concept in English. It ranges from the late sixteenth through to the nineteenth century, and spans British, European, and American Puritan cultures. It offers new analyses of well-known Puritan writers such as Anne Bradstreet, John Bunyan, Richard Baxter, and John Milton, as well as less familiar figures, such as Mary Rowlandson and Joseph Hussey, and writers less often associated with Puritanism, such as Andrew Marvell and Aphra Behn.
