There were but four manuscripts relative to this subject in the library of the King of France; but in Italy there was a great number, Mr. de St. Pelaie, therefore, went into Italy, and obtained the permission of the Pope to consult those manuscripts. This project and expedition were celebrated in the Nouvelles Literaires de Florence, for the month of February, 1740.
