He has spared no expense of time and labour to acquire a full knowledge of every incident which he has related; and not a single fact has been introduced, as such, without taking due care to have what was to his mind a sufficient voucher; and being thus satisfied, he should have felt it to have been a breach of trust on his part, had he not brought every thing forward which he judged necessary to give the public just ideas, both of the character and proceed ings of Mr. Kilham, and of those with whom his name and sufferings must ever be associated. It is the par amount duty of an historian to be faithful; and the writer of these memoirs believes he can, if expedient.
