Download or read book Reincarnation in America written by Lee Irwin and published by Lexington Books. This book was released on 2017-07-31 with total page 475 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reincarnation in America: An Esoteric History surveys the complex history of reincarnation theories across multiple fields of discourse in a pre-American context, ranging from early Greek traditions to Medieval Christian theories, Renaissance esotericism, and European Kabbalah, all of which had adherents that brought those theories to America. Rebirth theories are shown in all these groups to be highly complex and often disjunctive with mainstream religions even though members of conventional religions frequently affirm the possibility of rebirth. As a history of an idea, reincarnation theory is a current, vital belief pattern that cuts across a wide spectrum of social, cultural, and scientific domains in a long, complex history not reducible to any specific religious or theoretical explanation. This book is cross-disciplinary and multicultural, linking religious studies perspectives with science based research; it draws upon many distinct disciplines and avoids reduction of reincarnation to any specific theory. The underlying thesis is to demonstrate the complexity of reincarnation theories; what is unique is the historical overview and the gradual shift away from religious theories of rebirth to new theories that are therapeutic and trans-traditional.

Book excerpt: This book delves into the natural law that starts off where the Law of Economy of Life i.e. Death must have exhausted itself on a transiting soul. The reader is gradually, but imperceptibly, led into embracing reincarnation as a divine principle that irrefutably serves to prove the existence of God, to substantiate His perfect character, and exonerate Him from the injustice of partiality. The utility value of a deep understanding of this Law of Reincarnation as it affects the interpersonal life of the earthly men is such that every human will eventually tend to relate with every other human out of duty, to the best of his humour, love and care, towards an ever-lasting universal brotherhood, peace and harmony.

Download or read book Reincarnation written by Rev. Irving Cooper and published by Book Tree. This book was released on 2007-04 with total page 137 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reincarnation is the idea and some would say fact that after we die we return and live other lives. The reason for this cycle is that the world offers us the chance to grow and learn based on the many physical challenges it offers. When we have learned and progressed enough, through numerous lives, there will be no more need to return. This book covers the various cultures that accept the idea, and what it really means to us, as individuals. Those who are steeped in pure logic reject the idea due to the lack of strong scientific evidence. They fail to realize that one cannot present spiritual proofs in a laboratory. Matter itself and the material world can show physical evidence but spirit and matter are two separate things. So where is the proof for reincarnation? One good answer, and a great starting point, is to open this book. Spiritual proof exists for those who can comprehend it.

Download or read book Reincarnation and the Law of Karma written by William Walker Atkinson and published by Binker North. This book was released on 1908 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By "Reincarnation" we mean the repeated incarnation, or embodiment in flesh, of the soul or immaterial part of man's nature. The term "Metempsychosis" is frequently employed in the same sense, the definition of the latter term being: "The passage of the soul, as an immortal essence, at the death of the body, into another living body." The term "Transmigration of Souls" is sometimes employed, the term being used in the sense of "passing from one body into another." But the term "Transmigration" is often used in connection with the belief of certain undeveloped races who held that the soul of men sometimes passed into the bodies of the lower animals, as a punishment for their sins committed during the human life. But this belief is held in disrepute by the adherents of Reincarnation or Metempsychosis, and has no connection with their philosophy or beliefs, the ideas having sprung from an entirely different source, and having nothing in common. There are many forms of belief--many degrees of doctrine--regarding Reincarnation, as we shall see as we proceed, but there is a fundamental and basic principle underlying all of the various shades of opinion, and divisions of the schools. This fundamental belief may be expressed as the doctrine that there is in man an immaterial Something (called the soul, spirit, inner self, or many other names) which does not perish at the death or disintegration of the body, but which persists as an entity, and after a shorter or longer interval of rest reincarnates, or is re-born, into a new body--that of an unborn infant--from whence it proceeds to live a new life in the body, more or less unconscious of its past existences, but containing within itself the "essence" or results of its past lives, which experiences go to make up its new "character," or "personality." It is usually held that the rebirth is governed by the law of attraction, under one name or another, and which law operates in accordance with strict justice, in the direction of attracting the reincarnating soul to a body, and conditions, in accordance with the tendencies of the past life, the parents also attracting to them a soul bound to them by some ties in the past, the law being universal, uniform, and equitable to all concerned in the matter. This is a general statement of the doctrine as it is generally held by the most intelligent of its adherents.
Download or read book The Big Book of Reincarnation written by Roy Stemman and published by Hierophant Publishing. This book was released on 2012-05-01 with total page 439 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: IS DEATH THE FINAL CHAPTER? In The Big Book of Reincarnation, Roy Stemman attempts to answer one of the big questions of existence: Is death the end? Or, is it merely the end of a chapter in the book of existence? A self-described "skeptical believer," Stemman uses his skills as a professional journalist to perform an in-depth exploration of reincarnation. Using case studies, anecdotes, and physical evidence from the best-documented cases from around the world, Stemman shines a bright light on this subject, inviting readers to decide for themselves on the basis of facts, rather than on the basis of hearsay, speculation, and superstition. Stemman finds fascinating examples of evidence of reincarnation in the nightmares of a Louisiana bayou boy, the past-life recall of a renowned neurosurgeon, the research of a highly respected university professor, and the unique system of governance in the mountains of Tibet, to name just a few. He examines the lives of those affected by reincarnation, such as children who can actually remember their previous lives. Instead of shying away from the skeptics, Stemman evaluates their leading theories and compares them to the findings that he has accumulated throughout his global research. The Big Book of Reincarnation is thorough, well researched, engaging, and the most comprehensive book ever published on this fascinating subject.

Download or read book The Demise and Rebirth of American Third Parties written by Bernard Tamas and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-03-13 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Virtually all academic books on American third parties in the last half-century assume that they have largely disappeared. This book challenges that orthodoxy by explaining the (temporary) decline of third parties, demonstrating through the latest evidence that they are enjoying a resurgence, and arguing that they are likely to once again play a significant role in American politics. The book is based on a wealth of data, including district-level results from US House of Representatives elections, state-level election laws after the Civil War, and recent district-level election results from Australia, Canada, India, and the United Kingdom.
