Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Law of Commercial Exchanges In properly acknowledging the services ren dered by others in the preparation of this volume, the writer finds one of his greatest difficulties. While the plan of the work from its inception and the actual writing thereof have devolved entirely upon the writer, yet, in consequence of his exact ing professional duties, a large part of the read ing of the proof, the verification of citations of cases and preparation of the index has fallen upon those who now are or have been associated with him in his office. In all cases, this arduous labor has been cheerfully and efficiently performed. Among those whom he wishes especially to thank are his young professional friends, John H. Large and Stephen Love. The latter was particularly helpful in his suggestions during the preliminary stages in the planning of the book and in prepar ing the index. Two other gentlemen, while in no direct way concerned in the preparation of the book, have yet rendered invaluable assistance. One is Mr. John C. F. Merrill, an honored ex-president and now Secretary of the Chicago Board of Trade. As an indefatigable and uncompromising champion of the Exchanges through many years, he is known to all. But, as one who has been permitted forviii preface. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book A Primer on the Law of Information Exchange

Download or read book A Primer on the Law of Information Exchange written by and published by American Bar Association. This book was released on 2002 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the advent of new and more sophisticated information technologies, businesspersons have more opportunities to interact and exchange information with their competitors. In this climate of free-flowing information, it is essential that businesspersons are aware of the legal implications of engaging in information exchanges whether in the form of an industry association questionnaire or electronic mail. The Section of Antitrust Law of the American Bar Association has developed this general guide to the law of information exchange to aid non-antitrust lawyers' and business managers' understanding of when and how the antitrust laws apply to information exchanges. It is written primarily to help businesspersons to understand the risks and comply with the law. This primer is not a substitute for legal advice but, rather, is offered as background to help spot issues so that advice may be sought from an experienced attorney. The booklets are about the size of a pocket journal and have a space on the back to identify the law firm or company and contact counsel. They are available singly and, at substantial discounts, in convenient packs of 25 copies each.

Download or read book Boundaries of Commercial and Trade Law written by Gonzalo Villalta Puig and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2011-11-14 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do businesspeople consider the rules of commercial law when they negotiate a business deal, or are the practicalities of whatever transaction they are about to agree their sole consideration? Or does the law fade into the background to such an extent that it becomes almost irrelevant? If so, what is the role of law in commerce and, therefore, what are the boundaries of commercial law? These questions are subject of this important book for teachers and researchers of commercial law, undergraduate and postgraduate students of commercial law subjects, legal practitioners, businesspeople, public bodies for the regulation of trade and commerce as well as libraries of reference.

Book excerpt: Transnational commercial law represents the outcome of work undertaken to harmonize national laws affecting domestic and cross-border transactions and is upheld by a diverse spectrum of instruments. Now in its second edition, this authoritative work brings together the major instruments in this field, dividing them into thirteen groups: Treaty Law, Contracts, Electronic Commerce, International Sales, Agency and Distribution, International Credit Transfers and Bank Payment Undertakings, International Secured Transactions, Cross-Border Insolvency, Securities Custody, Clearing and Settlement and Securities Collateral, Conflict of Laws, Civil Procedure, Commercial Arbitration, and a new section on Carriage of Goods. Each group of instruments is preceded by linking text which provides important context by identifying the key instruments in each group, discussing their purposes and relationships, and explaining the major provisions of each instrument, thus setting them in their commercial context. This volume is unique in providing the full text of international conventions, including the preamble - which is important for interpretation - and the final clauses and any annexes. In addition, each instrument is accompanied by a complete list of dates of signature and ratification by all contracting states, all easily navigated through the detailed tables of contents which precedes it. This fully-indexed work provides an indispensable guide for the practitioner or academic to the primary transnational commercial law instruments.
