Book The Kingdom Holiness Unto the Lord

Download or read book The Kingdom Holiness Unto the Lord written by Ernestine Cameron and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2009-05 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Currently, our redeemer and sanctifier is rebuilding his spiritual temple, and this book is designed to equip the bride with the necessary tools to colabor with her bridegroom in that effort. Nehemiah, Ze-rub'-ba-bel and Ezra foreshadowed this event. Nehemiah restored the altar and wall. - The altar symbolized repentance to receive God's favor and protection. - The wall symbolized intercession. Ze-rub'-ba-bel (lineage of King David and a type of Christ) restored the foundation and erected the temple. - The foundation symbolized restoration of the apostles' doctrine. - The temple structure symbolized realignment (proper placement of its members) and rising of the church. Ezra, priest and scribe, restored the word after the purification of the Levities and priests. - The word symbolized cleansing and strengthening of the church; and - Evangelizing the world. THE KINGDOM-Holiness unto the Lord carries a prophetic anointing. ERNESTINE CAMERON is a forgiven child of God and through the sanctifying work of the bridegroom, she became an empty vessel; hence, this work. Therefore, the true author is the Holy Spirit. He glorifies Christ. He intercedes. He teaches. He gives gifts. He convicts. He reveals. He keeps us from falling and presents us faultless. He speaks through vessels. He gives boldness. He gives power. He seals. He revives. He inspires. We are his body; consequently, "...we have this treasure [Holy Spirit] in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us" 2 Corinthians 4:7.

Book excerpt: Central to God’s character is the quality of holiness. Yet, even so, most people are hard-pressed to define what God’s holiness precisely is. Many preachers today avoid the topic altogether because people today don’t quite know what to do with words like “awe” or “fear.” R. C. Sproul, in this classic work, puts the holiness of God in its proper and central place in the Christian life. He paints an awe-inspiring vision of God that encourages Christian to become holy just as God is holy. Once you encounter the holiness of God, your life will never be the same.

Book The Hole in Our Holiness

Download or read book The Hole in Our Holiness written by Kevin DeYoung and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2014-01-31 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The hole in our holiness is that we don't care much about holiness. Or, at the very least, we don't understand it. And we all have our reasons too: Maybe the pursuit of holiness seems legalistic. Maybe it feels like one more thing to worry about in your already overwhelming life. Maybe the emphasis on effort in the Christian life appears unspiritual. Or maybe you've been trying really hard to be holy and it's just not working! Whatever the case, the problem is clear: too few Christians look like Christ and too many don't seem all that concerned about it. This is a book for those of us who are ready to take holiness seriously, ready to be more like Jesus, ready to live in light of the grace that produces godliness. This is a book about God's power to help us grow in personal holiness and to enjoy the process of transformation.

But what actually happens in heaven? What are we going to be doing there? Won't it get boring at some point? According to Scripture, a large part of our experience of heaven will be a continual revealing of God's glory. Not just his glory in the moment, but during all of time. The mysteries of providence, the hidden movements of God throughout history, and the forgotten and unnoted works of even the most obscure of God's people will be unveiled so that we can see how wise, loving, gracious, and powerful our God is. And though we will experience perfection in heaven, we will never be omniscient, which means we will always be learning more about God's glory, inspiring us to return joyful praise and thanksgiving. If your vision of heaven has been limited to clouds and harps and angels, it's time to expand that view with the truth found in this biblically based look at the afterlife.

Book excerpt: “A needed corrective to self-indulgent Christianity.” Philip Yancey “A stirring challenge.” Lee Strobel “A strong antidote against a domesticated God.” Matthew Lee Anderson When was the last time you were overawed by God’s majesty? Have you ever stood in stunned silence at his holiness and power? In our shallow, self-centered age, things like truth and reverence might seem outdated, lost. Yet we’re restless. And our failed attempts to ease our unrest point to an ancient ache for an experience of the holy. Drew Dyck makes a compelling case that what we seek awaits us in the untamed God of Scripture—a God who is dangerous yet accessible, mysterious yet powerfully present. He is a God who beckons us to see him with a fresh, unfiltered gaze. Yawning at Tigers takes us past domesticated Christianity, into the wilds where God’s raw majesty, love, and power become more real and transformative than we could ever imagine.

Book excerpt: A profound exploration of how to hold on to hope when our unchanging faith collides with a changing culture, from two respected Christian storytellers and thought leaders. “Offers neither spin control nor image maintenance for the evangelical tribe, but genuine hope.”—Russell Moore, president of ERLC As the pressures of health warnings, economic turmoil, and partisan politics continue to rise, the influence of gospel-focused Christians seems to be waning. In the public square and popular opinion, we are losing our voice right when it’s needed most for Christ’s glory and the common good. But there’s another story unfolding too—if you know where to look. In Gospelbound, Collin Hansen and Sarah Eekhoff Zylstra counter these growing fears with a robust message of resolute hope for anyone hungry for good news. Join them in exploring profound stories of Christians who are quietly changing the world in the name of Jesus—from the wild world of digital media to the stories of ancient saints and unsung contemporary activists on the frontiers of justice and mercy. Discover how, in these dark times, the light of Jesus shines even brighter. You haven’t heard the whole story. And that’s good news.

Book excerpt: A Transforming Knowledge of the Living God The timeless appeal of this classic book, written by a preacher with a worldwide ministry during the first half of the twentieth century, demonstrates the deep hunger for a saving knowledge of God present in each generation. Arthur Pink sought to give readers not just a theoretical knowledge of God but pointed them toward a personal relationship of yielding to him and living according to his biblical precepts. Pink's book explores attributes such as God's decrees, foreknowledge, sovereignty, holiness, grace, and mercy, among many others, all packaged in a style especially useful for pastors, teachers, and Bible students. Our God who is above all names cannot be found through human searching alone, Pink teaches, but can be known only as he is revealed by the Holy Spirit through his living Word.
