Occasionally there are not suffi cient observations to estimate either a time series or a cross - section equation. Even if sufficient cross-sectional data are available, there may be time related variables which should be included for correct model specification. The necessity of pooling cross-sectional data over time creates a new dimension of difficulty to the problem of estimation. Sev= eral estimators have been suggested to deal with this problem. However. Up to now no study has been made to investigate their relative merits, systematically. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate various estima4 tion methods by a simulation study which takes into account the practical problem of multicollinearity. Multicollinearity is an important problem in empirical analysis, because most economic variables are highly corre lated with each other in the real world. An alternate model is chosen which employs the vibrational theory but uses passive receptors that are activated by energy transfer from odor mole cules. Furthermore the importance of the inhalation process has been recently demonstrated by Macrides and Charover.2 Here we propose that the molecule itself is activated by the small amounts of energy availa ble through nozzling. Although nozzling is an old and discredited the ory, we propose to show how fruitful ideas may still be obtained. First, the evidence to date will be reviewed for pre-columbian human malaria, introduction with colonization, zoonotic transfer from cebid monkeys, and anthroponotic transfer to monkeys. Second, the role of demographic and ecological changes following European contact in the proliferation of malaria will be addressed with attention to changes in the habitat of malarial vectors following the Amazonian reforestation between 1500-1750. Third, cultural behaviors of indigenous Amazonians, such as primate hunting and pet - keeping, will be addressed in terms of their role in the perpetuation of the contemporary enzootic cycle of vivax-type malarias. The branch or axillary stem usually remains adnate to the main stem for a short distance before separation occurs. The vascular trace to the axillary bud appears immediately following movement of the median leaf trace into the petiole, and is produced by migration and convergence of vascular tissue from each side of the leaf gap. The branch trace remains as a continuous segment of the main stele until immediately before branch divergence. In cor relation with other data the stelar structure seems strongly to sug gest that the internodal growth of the main stem and axillary branch. Is synchronized and interrelated.
