Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Divinitie Lords. In the wake of Elden, it was they who ruled. Countless lords who mostly had different views on the world’s system of multiple rulers. Though this never caused a conflict, or at least to a major scale of destruction. Remarkably gifted in all types of fields, the Divinities were blessed with eternal life. It was the world’s dream. The thought of peace, kindness, and will to stride for greatness. A feud had arisen between two completely different foes. This would cause a war were alliances came together for both sides. Personal reasons. One lord began working on a way to save Elden from a horrific fate but ran out of time. Outside his original plans, Gellik made preparations. Thalasis, lord of Shadows, creates a massive energy wave of dark magic that almost completely levels the world’s life during the war, as everyone was busy fighting each other. However, the true enemy that dreadful day was Malavis, who was hiding in the shadows till the war was over. It was all his intention to become the only remaining ruler of the world. There was the only one left standing in his way. In the end, Gellik would get the last laugh by saving Elden with his keen research—an ability to store information that would otherwise be lost forever. After the war, a new Divinitie would rise. Though he wouldn’t be like anything before. The Miraculous Stone. Gentle and unsure, he would use his new-found powers to recreate life in the world. This would be the beginning of Elden’s bright future. First it was the Order. They would become the first of intelligent life, charged with creating ideas that could better the world as a whole. Then the newest to join the order thinks of an idea that is beyond anything they’ve seen before, which causes another order member, Anteevon, to become jealous. The order grants him permission to bring his dream to life, giving him the greater wand that is used to forge the masterful ideas they come up with. He would embark on a journey that would take him across the world. The first to use the Gateway would also be the last. Dreoravers, they sought out the means to gain the power to get revenge. Orthboneus wanted his idea to better their world; instead it became a nightmare. With the first users becoming a threat, he used his magical powers to lock them away inside. During which the Miraculous Stone created more life. Years of kingdoms rising; names and titles earned. Once Orthboneus Liro was drained completely, he could no longer hold the Ravers in place. Fleeing before they woke. Feeling betrayed, their rage grew even more, unleashing a wrath that would cause Elden to respond quickly. Ojintez, King of the Klays, would take this time of desperation to unite. In turn, after a swift war achieves victory. But the Ravers would retreat back to the now corrupted Gateway. The Stone alongside the Order would commend him of this incredible feat, naming him hero of Elden and head of the new protectors of the world. The Council.

Book excerpt: “What do you think a hero is? It’s just the right person in the right place making the right choice at the right time. Heroes aren’t born. They’re made.” A demonic assassin. A half-orc boxer. A ratman necromancer. Though they take many different shapes and forms, there are heroes all around us. Bravery can be found in the most unexpected places: a subterranean dwarven city; the sands of a temple courtyard in Ancient Egypt; a besieged castle, a Victorian brothel, a goblin warren, the post-apocalyptic ruins of a demon-infested village. Heroes dwell in the shadows as well as the light; you just have to look a little harder to find them. Who do they fight? Some heroes challenge injustice in all its numerous guises, while others hunt monsters both human and bestial. Others battle inner demons, the ghosts of their past, their deepest nightmares – or even the gods themselves. Why do they fight? For glory? Sometimes. For honor? Perhaps. There are those who instinctively strive to protect those weaker than themselves, and there are others emboldened only by a sense of obligation, or the promise of wealth. Whether by the blade or other means, they endeavor to take down all who threaten what is good and right in their world. By hook or by crook, through cunning or combat, with tooth and claw or iron and steel, they are all united in one goal, willingly or not: to live – and die, if necessary – a hero. Choose your weapon. Fight for what you believe in. Never give up. Nineteen fantasy writers gather to bring nineteen tales to life, each one a unique glimpse into a wholly original world.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Licentious Gotham, set in the streets, news depots, publishing houses, grand jury chambers, and courtrooms of the nation's great metropolis, delves into the stories of the enterprising men and women who created a thriving transcontinental market for sexually arousing books and pictures. The experiences of fancy publishers, flash editors, and racy novelists, who all managed to pursue their trade in the face of laws criminalizing obscene publications, dramatically convey nineteenth-century America's daring notions of sex, gender, and desire, as well as the frequently counterproductive results of attempts to enforce conventional moral standards. In nineteenth-century New York, the business of erotic publishing and legal attacks on obscenity developed in tandem, with each activity shaping and even promoting the pursuit of the other. Obscenity prohibitions, rather than curbing salacious publications, inspired innovative new styles of forbidden literature--such as works highlighting expressions of passion and pleasure by middle-class American women. Obscenity prosecutions also spurred purveyors of lewd materials to devise novel schemes to evade local censorship by advertising and distributing their products through the mail. This subterfuge in turn triggered far-reaching transformations in strategies for policing obscenity. Donna Dennis offers a colorful, groundbreaking account of the birth of an indecent print trade and the origins of obscenity regulation in the United States. By revealing the paradoxes that characterized early efforts to suppress sexual expression in the name of morality, she suggests relevant lessons for our own day.
