Book Supply Chain Integration for Sustainable Advantages

Download or read book Supply Chain Integration for Sustainable Advantages written by Yongyi Shou and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-02-14 with total page 163 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers a systematic literature review and a set of empirical studies on supply chain integration. Supply chain management is recognized as an essential means for firms to achieve competitive advantages, in which supply chain integration is regarded as the core for operational excellence: shorter lead time, lower inventory, faster delivery, and higher product and service quality. Using data from an international survey of manufacturing firms, an interrelated set of studies that investigate supply chain integration from different perspectives at multiple levels are conducted. Intra-organizational factors such as products, production systems, and socio-technical systems are examined to understand their effects on supply chain integration, indicating that firms need to implement different types of supply chain integration for specific competitive priorities. Then, the outcomes of supply chain integration, including its impact on risk management and sustainability management, are investigated from an inter-organizational perspective. The firm is embedded in a manufacturing network, a global supply chain, or both, and it can use supply chain integration as a strategic action for risks. Sustainability has been a vital issue for manufacturers, and supply chain integration can enhance its success. This book makes significant contributions to the relevant literature on supply chain integration and offers insights to supply chain managers in manufacturing industries.

Book Impact of Supply Chain Performance Upon the Firm s Financial Performance

Download or read book Impact of Supply Chain Performance Upon the Firm s Financial Performance written by Venkata Vijay Kumar Pasupuleti and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Study is taken on BSE 100 stocks to analyse the supply chain ratio (SC ratio). Data of past 10 years of these firms is used to calculate the supply chain ratio. It is found that the manufacturing sector has significantly higher networking capital as compared to service sector firms. It is because of firms going for expansion either by sales or additional investments. Trade receivables form the major new net working capital. This results in the negative relation of SC ratio with Return on Equity (ROE) of firms. However, the service sector has positive relation to SC ratio. That is the firms are less impacted by additional working capital, and have a focus on positive earnings only. So, the increase in cash flows goes in parallel to the Return on Equity.

Book Impact of Planning Sourcing Delivery Manufacturing and Sustainability Performance on Firm s Supply Chain Performance in Manufacturing Industry of Pakistan

Download or read book Impact of Planning Sourcing Delivery Manufacturing and Sustainability Performance on Firm s Supply Chain Performance in Manufacturing Industry of Pakistan written by HAFIZ MUHAMMAD RIZWAN AHMED and published by . This book was released on 2023 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nowadays, most organizations consider the adoption of sustainable practices as not only a competitive advantage but also a necessity for long-term survival. However, it yet remained inconclusive how they affect SC performance. Moreover, how do HR and organizational strategies complement these relationships. This study explored various supply chain functions that influence sustainability and supply chain performance. We also investigated the role of HR and organizational strategies moderating these relationships. For this, we proposed a theoretical framework modifying Katiyar et. al. (2018) model to incorporate the above-discussed moderation. We argue that Planning, Sourcing, and delivery performance improves the SC performance directly, as well as through increasing Manufacturing and Sustainability Performance. We also contend that the effect of these factors on SC performance is augmented where there are well-defined HR and organizational strategies. Empirical validity was established by conducting a survey using a close-ended questionnaire. The data was collected through a five-point Liker questionnaire, from which 1000 samples of 300 responses from Pakistan's manufacturing industry are obtained. Structured equation modeling was used to analyze data. The results suggested that manufacturing, and sourcing Performance, seem to have a direct positive effect on supply chain (SC) performance, whereas delivery performance seems to be affecting - Sustainability Performance. Hence, manufacturing performance seems to positively mediate the effect of sourcing performance on SC performance. Results also suggested that HR strategies seem to positively the effect of complement delivery performance whereas negatively complement the effect of sourcing performance on SC performance. Finally, implications to theory and practice are discussed, especially for emerging economies.

Book Government Impact on Sustainable and Responsible Supply Chain Management

Download or read book Government Impact on Sustainable and Responsible Supply Chain Management written by Taghipour, Atour and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2023-07-19 with total page 379 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A supply chain comprises different actors existing in different countries, including suppliers, producers, and customers. Clothes are supplied from Asia to all other regions; most coffee beans are supplied from South America; and cocoa is produced in Africa. Protecting the rights of people who produce goods in different countries is essential. In fact, according to this evolutionary law, companies need to identify, analyze, and prioritize the risks in their supply chains, and new policies must be established based on these results. New measures are taken to prevent or minimize violations of human rights and damage to the environment. Companies also need to set up grievance channels for people in the supply chains for regular reporting on supply chain practices. The German Supply Chain Act gives consumers the security that companies are managed based on fair production, and many similar legislations are likely to follow in other nations. Businesses around the world must prepare for these types of policies to impact their own supply chain management strategy before they are enforced if they wish to avoid revenue-impacting delays. Government Impact on Sustainable and Responsible Supply Chain Management is edited by Atour Taghipour, with about a decade of experience as a director in Automobile and High-Tech Industries, provides new and innovative ways to integrate social and environmental analysis into global value chains and adapt the law that regulates corporate responsibility for the observance of sustainability and human rights in the supply chain. This book is ideal for professionals and researchers working in governmental and private organizations in supply chain management, operations management, logistics, and operations research. Moreover, the book provides insights and support for executives in managing expertise, knowledge, information, and organizational development in different work communities and environments.

Book Effects of Supply Chain Integration and Market Orientation on Firm Performance

Download or read book Effects of Supply Chain Integration and Market Orientation on Firm Performance written by Hefu Liu and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Purpose: The present paper aims to investigate the impact of two different dimensions of supply chain integration on two aspects of firm performance in the emerging economy of China. In addition, the moderating effects of market orientation on the relationship between supply chain integration and firm performance are explored.Design/methodology/approach: Data were obtained from a survey administered to 246 firms in the manufacturing and services industry in China. Hierarchical regression analysis was used to test the hypotheses.Findings: Operational coordination is positively associated with operational performance and business performance. Information sharing affects only operational performance; it has no impact on business performance. Furthermore, the results provide empirical support for the moderating effects of market orientation on the association of supply chain integration and firm performance.Research limitations/implications: The present study uses the focal firm as the unit of analysis. Future studies should examine the research issue at the level of the supply chain. Second, the generalizability of the current findings may be limited because this present study was conducted only in China. Future studies should collect data from firms in different political and cultural environments. Third, the current research used a cross-sectional research design. Future research should consider applying multiple sources of data and conducting a longitudinal study. Finally, the present study measured firm performance using the subjective perceptions of the key respondents. Future research should include objective measures of firm performance.Practical implications: Managers are provided with an in-depth understanding of how the different dimensions of supply chain integration affect the different aspects of firm performance and how the types of market orientation in emerging economies, in general, and in China, in particular, moderate these effects.Originality/value: The current paper contributes knowledge on the value-realizing mechanism of supply chain integration from a resource-based view. It presents a multidimensional explanation of the relationship among supply chain integration, market orientation, and firm performance in the context of China.

Book A Structure Conduct Performance Perspective of How Strategic Supply Chain Integration Affects Firm Performance

Download or read book A Structure Conduct Performance Perspective of How Strategic Supply Chain Integration Affects Firm Performance written by Peter Ralston and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are several factors which affect a firm's ability to successfully integrate internally and externally for organizational improvement. This study seeks to understand the relationship between a firm's strategy, its supply chain integration efforts, and firm performance. Leveraging the theoretical lens of structure - conduct - performance (SCP) from the industrial organization economics literature, and utilizing both archival and survey data, we describe how firms may align their internal and external supply chain integration strategies with customers and suppliers. In doing so, these internal and external integration strategies affect the firm's ability to respond to customer demand, which then impacts operational and financial performance. Our work provides theoretical and empirical evidence of these relationships and thus extends prior strategic supply chain integration literature.
