This story intrigued us by introducing us to a mere mortal named Danny who, by chance, on one mysterious Halloween night, found himself face-to-face with an haggard old man in disguise who changed into a hideous creature called a hell angel. After Danny was captured and taken to an enormous castle, he met and fell in love with Valentonia, the kings daughter. After many conflicts and battles, the two of them escaped and found refuge. They married and had a handsome child, Gabriel, thereby creating the first hybrid, half human and half angel. The Illegal Child 2 was suspenseful and dramatic throughout the book. The hell angels kidnapped Gabriel. They took him to a monstrosity of a castle, and Valentonia and Danny enlisted the help of heaven angels and worldly creatures to rescue their son. The Illegal Child 3 is the last and final book. It will leave you on the edge of your seat, biting your nails and engulfing yourself in every morsel of the book. This magical story features two married peopleone, a male human and one, a female angeland their half-breed son. The Illegal Child 3 starts with their son being kidnapped by hell angels, who want him because of his unique essence of being both human and angel. They take him to their camp and begin the process of making him their king. There are fights between griffins, creatures that are half lion and half eagles; hell angels, who resemble the devil himself; and warg creatures that resemble powerful wolves with pointed fangs and ripped armsall clashing to bring about the release of Gabriel. Meanwhile, his mother, Valentonia, with the help of her husband, Daniel, assemble a group of heaven angels to retrieve her son, Gabriel. Gabriel became the greatest angel ever made during this adventure, and finally, the war between hell and heaven angels ends.

How can a human being be illegal for simply existing? Ebo is alone. His brother, Kwame, has disappeared, and Ebo knows it can only be to attempt the hazardous journey to Europe, and a better life—the same journey their sister set out on months ago. But Ebo refuses to be left behind in Ghana. He sets out after Kwame and joins him on the quest to reach Europe. Ebo's epic journey takes him across the Sahara Desert to the dangerous streets of Tripoli, and finally out to the merciless sea. • Pages : 280 pages

Download or read book More Than One Child written by Shen Yang and published by . This book was released on 2021-08-08 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'I broke a law simply by being born.' In the late 1980s, Shen Yang was born during the fiercest years of China's One-Child Policy. As the second daughter of the family, she was a massive liability - an excess child, a product of illegal birth. From being raised by her grandparents in a remote village as soon as she was born, to being whisked away to her aunt's home in a distant faraway city, Shen Yang's existence was doomed to be shrouded in the utmost secrecy and silence. Armed with a false identity and ID card, she experienced years of neglect and humiliation from her aunt's volatile family who saw her as yet another burden to bear. On top of it all, it seemed her own biological parents had come to forget about her. In a riveting memoir, by turns witty and inspiring, Shen Yang bravely provides a vivid account of the family planning era in China, as she jots down her journey towards overcoming the limits of her upbringing and forging her own identity amidst the sorrows of her childhood. More than One Child is not only Shen Yang's story; it is the untold story of the enormous, yet invisible community of excess-birth children. And this book is Shen Yang's way of saying goodbye to her childhood, and goodbye to an era. 'This is the voice of China's Invisible Generation - vividly written, well balanced, brilliant, humorous and very sharp - it elicits a rollercoaster of emotions that breaks through the silence shrouding the lives of excess children born during the One-Child Policy.' --Xinran (Author of The Good Women of China, and The Promise: Love and Loss in Modern China) "The One-Child-per-Family policy was a tragedy forced upon China's mothers, children and their families. Finally, in this book, Shen Yang has dared to tell the truth, speaking out bravely about the experiences she lived through." --Ma Jian (Author of The Dark Road) "Now that the one-child policy has been relaxed, the stories of these illegal children will soon be a part of China's national collective memory. But to those who grew up tainted with this humiliation, the scars are permanent. One is Chinese writer Shen Yang, who wrote her story in part to extinguish the nightmares that still haunt her." --Vincent Ni, The Guardian

Book excerpt: A definitive resource for understanding such far-reaching and often interconnected crimes as cyber theft, drug trafficking, human smuggling, identity theft, wildlife poaching, and sex tourism. While many international corporations have benefited from the global economy and distribution of information, globalization has also had serious negative consequences. This important reference work offers students and general readers a critical understanding of how technology, governments, political unrest, war, and economic strife contribute to an increase in global crime. This A–Z encyclopedia covers key people, events, and organizations and includes key documents that will help readers to understand the numerous problems created by the many transnational crimes that are growing in severity and frequency around the world. Entries address perpetrators and their methods; victims; who really profits; and law enforcement responses. In addition to cyber theft and sales of weapons and narcotics, the set provides a detailed look at global crimes not typically covered, such as corruption, fraudulent medicine, illegal sports betting, organ trafficking, maritime piracy, trafficking in cultural property, and wildlife and forest crime. Although some historical events and people are included, the focus is on recent and contemporary topics.
