Book The Honeymoon Stage

Download or read book The Honeymoon Stage written by Oscar Schwartz and published by . This book was released on 2017-07-03 with total page 77 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Honeymoon Stage is a collection of poems written for friends on the internet over a five-year period. These friends were spread across the globe, and most of them the poet had never met, and will never know. Poetry was the method by which the correspondents felt they could authenticate themselves to one another, despite their separation in space, and their friendships being mediated through screens. The poems engage with the flattened syntax of internet language, registering its awkwardness while bringing human qualities to the centre of the exchange. They inhabit a surreal world marked by shifting identities and video-clip encounters, blog-like intimacies and strange scraps of information, discovering in this reality new ways of thinking and feeling." --Back cover.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sunrise love is the love of youth. Love that is fresh and innocent in the morning, and love that we want to wake up to every day. This collection was inspired by living in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, otherwise known as the honeymoon capital of the mid-west. A perfect gift for honeymooners of all ages, it is AnSperry's hope to inspire lovers of all ages to fall back into the bliss of new love every day. "First I want to compliment AnSperry on the organic wholeness of this collection. The title perfectly ties together the ecstasy stage of romantic attachments. It is a very finely focused meditation; the language obviously well-crafted, transparent, and clear. Also, there is a delightful sense of playfulness. The paintings complement the poems admirably. I caught myself thinking many times this woman with such a genius for interior design has brought that same genius to the matching of visuals and auditory music. Bravo!"Anthony Garrett, professor

Book The Honeymoon Wilderness

Download or read book The Honeymoon Wilderness written by Pier Giorgio Di Cicco and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Honeymoon Wilderness is Pier Giorgio Di Cicco's first full-length collection of new poetry to be published since 1986 when he withdrew from the world of literature to join a monastery. These are poems of fear and wonder from a man deeply engaged in the contemplation of the everyday. They resonate with the surprising imagery and heart-wrenching lyrical intelligence that is the hallmark of Di Cicco's best work. The Honeymoon Wilderness amply demonstrates why Di Cicco must still be considered one of our major, essential poets.

Book Victorian Honeymoons

Download or read book Victorian Honeymoons written by Helena Michie and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2006-12-21 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While Victorian tourism and Victorian sexuality have been the subject of much critical interest, there has been little research on a characteristically nineteenth-century phenomenon relating to both sex and travel: the honeymoon, or wedding journey. Although the term 'honeymoon' was coined in the eighteenth century, the ritual increased in popularity throughout the Victorian period, until by the end of the century it became a familiar accompaniment to the wedding for all but the poorest classes. Using letters and diaries of 61 real-life honeymooning couples, as well as novels from Frankenstein to Middlemarch that feature honeymoon scenarios, Michie explores the cultural meanings of the honeymoon, arguing that, with its emphasis on privacy and displacement, the honeymoon was central to emerging ideals of conjugality and to ideas of the couple as a primary social unit.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED DEBUT BOOK OF POETRY FROM LANA DEL REY, VIOLET BENT BACKWARDS OVER THE GRASS “Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass is the title poem of the book and the first poem I wrote of many. Some of which came to me in their entirety, which I dictated and then typed out, and some that I worked laboriously picking apart each word to make the perfect poem. They are eclectic and honest and not trying to be anything other than what they are and for that reason I’m proud of them, especially because the spirit in which they were written was very authentic.”—Lana Del Rey Lana’s breathtaking first book solidifies her further as “the essential writer of her times” (The Atlantic). The collection features more than thirty poems, many exclusive to the book: Never to Heaven, The Land of 1,000 Fires, Past the Bushes Cypress Thriving, LA Who Am I to Love You?, Tessa DiPietro, Happy, Paradise Is Very Fragile, Bare Feet on Linoleum, and many more. This beautiful hardcover edition showcases Lana’s typewritten manuscript pages alongside her original photography. The result is an extraordinary poetic landscape that reflects the unguarded spirit of its creator. Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass is also brought to life in an unprecedented spoken word audiobook which features Lana Del Rey reading fourteen select poems from the book accompanied by music from Grammy Award-winning musician Jack Antonoff.
