Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The third volume of John Calvin's Harmony of the Law, which is a four volume set on the books of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. Unlike typical commentaries that take each verse and chapter as they come in the Bible, these commentaries take you through the four books of the Law as they come up with each topic. As each topic is thought of and discussed, Calvin takes us across all four the books of the Hebrew Law to teach us about the value of the Old Law and what it can teach us today. In today's church there is a lot of people wondering what value the Old Testament beliefs hold for us but Calvin shows that they are as important as they were when Calvin first wrote during the reformation. This book continues the study of the Ten Commandments and all the laws and practices that are related to each of the laws.

In the present work, you will find from "The Letter to the Hebrews" to "The General Letter of Judah", also "The Book of Daniel" and "The Book of Revelation", in which the verses are written in German and English, as well as an appendix with various elaborations and statements, etc. (see the table of contents). In the course of his professional development, he used to be a freelancer but was also officially employed; he has experienced a lot rises and falls throughout his life. While studying the Scriptures, he was led by the Spirit of the only God, the Almighty and the only Holy Father in heaven, whereas, by grace, he could recognize many things that are now presented as heresies to the world. In recent years he has been active in the proclamation of the Word of God in Europe, particularly in Brazil (South America), and has enlightened many people by his message, so that they get to know the true God, His holy name and His will and only obey Him – and start to think about all this, i. e. "so that they finally decide themselves in favour of the living God, instead of against Him, and their names are not erased from the divine 'Book of Life' forever."

Download or read book Sex and Race Volume 3 written by J. A. Rogers and published by Wesleyan University Press. This book was released on 2014-09-15 with total page 382 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the Sex and Race series, first published in the 1940s, historian Joel Augustus Rogers questioned the concept of race, the origins of racial differentiation, and the root of the "color problem." Rogers surmised that a large percentage of ethnic differences are the result of sociological factors and in these volumes he gathered what he called "the bran of history"—the uncollected, unexamined history of black people—in the hope that these neglected parts of history would become part of the mainstream body of Western history. Drawing on a vast amount of research, Rogers was attempting to point out the absurdity of racial divisions. Indeed his belief in one race—humanity—precluded the idea of several different ethnic races. The series marshals the data he had collected as evidence to prove his underlying humanistic thesis: that people were one large family without racial boundaries. Self-trained and self-published, Rogers and his work were immensely popular and influential during his day, even cited by Malcolm X. The books are presented here in their original editions.
Download or read book Law Legislation and Liberty Volume 3 written by F. A. Hayek and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 1978 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work provides a study of American women's responses to evolutionary theory and illuminates the role science played in the nineteenth-century women's rights movement. Here the author reveals how a number of nineteenth-century women, raised on the idea that Eve's sin forever fixed women's subordinate status, embraced Darwinian evolution, especially sexual selection theory as explained in The Descent of Man, as an alternative to the creation story in Genesis. The author chronicles the lives and writings of the women who combined their enthusiasm for evolutionary science with their commitment to women's rights, including Antoinette Brown Blackwell, Eliza Burt Gamble, Helen Hamilton Gardener, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. These Darwinian feminists believed evolutionary science proved that women were not inferior to men, that it was natural for mothers to work outside the home, and that women should control reproduction. The practical applications of this evolutionary feminism came to fruition, it si shown, in the early thinking and writing of the American birth control pioneer Margaret Sanger. In contrast to the extensive scholarship that has been dedicated to analyzing what Darwin and other males evolutionists had to say about women, this work offers information on what women themselves had to say about evolution. -- From book jacket.

Download or read book Commentaries on the Laws of England Volume 3 written by William Blackstone and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 2015-07-14 with total page 504 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sir William Blackstone's Commentaries on the Laws of England (1765-1769) stands as the first great effort to reduce the English common law to a unified and rational system. Blackstone demonstrated that the English law as a system of justice was comparable to Roman law and the civil law of the Continent. Clearly and elegantly written, the work achieved immediate renown and exerted a powerful influence on legal education in England and in America which was to last into the late nineteenth century. The book is regarded not only as a legal classic but as a literary masterpiece. Previously available only in an expensive hardcover set, Commentaries on the Laws of England is published here in four separate volumes, each one affordably priced in a paperback edition. These works are facsimiles of the eighteenth-century first edition and are undistorted by later interpolations. Each volume deals with a particular field of law and carries with it an introduction by a leading contemporary scholar. Introducing this third volume, Of Private Wrongs, John H. Langbein discusses Blackstone's account of procedure and jurisdiction, jury trial, and equity. He also examines Blackstone's uneasy attitude toward the celebrated legal frictions of English civil procedure.
Download or read book Bioethics Medicine and the Criminal Law Volume 3 Medicine and Bioethics in the Theatre of the Criminal Process written by Margaret Brazier and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2013-05-02 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To date, little analysis exists of the criminal process's roles as a regulator of medical practice and as an arbiter of bioethics, nor whether criminal law is an appropriate forum for judging ethical medical dilemmas. The conscription of criminal law into moral controversy and the (perceived) rise in criminal investigations of medical errors sets the backdrop for this innovative historical and theoretical analysis of the relationship between medicine, bioethics and the criminal process. Case studies on abortion, end of life and the separation of conjoined twins reveal how judges grapple with bioethics in criminal cases and the impact of 'theatre' on the criminal law's response to ethically controversial medical cases. A central argument is that bioethics and criminal law are not necessarily incompatible; rather, it is the theatre surrounding interactions between bioethics and criminal law that often distorts and creates tension.
Download or read book Righteousness written by Jeffrey J. Niehaus and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2023-12-06 with total page 291 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The third volume of this three-volume work exegetes and comments on every occurrence of the Greek terms for righteousness, righteous, righteously, and righteous judgment in the New Testament. It begins with a general discussion of the righteous word group in the New Testament and concludes with a discussion of the righteousness of God and the righteousness of faith. The same proposal that was explored in Volumes 1 and 2, that righteousness means conformity to God’s Being and doing, is now explored in the NT. Whatever flavor or nuance righteousness terminology may have in different NT contexts, study shows that the underlying sense of righteousness as conformity to God’s Being and doing, both for God and for people, has the explanatory power required to commend the definition. Such a result has further implications for justification studies.
