This book was released on 2018-08-23 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The hand demonstrates the history of the human race and also an individual person. Needless to mention here, the hand has played the most important role since human evolution. It is indispensable in human lives. The hand with accurate movements and delicate senses serves to smooth our daily life and complex social activity. Its quick and precise motions amaze us as if there is a mind in it. Even in the new era of innovative technologies such as IoT (Internet of Things) and autonomous robots with AI, we still wonder if such precise and clever machine as the hand could be made in the future. The human hand is an invaluable and unapproachable gift from the nature. It is our wish to learn the precise structure of the hand. Hand surgery has progressed rapidly in recent years, and an impaired hand can be treatable to a large extent. Any medical staff who participates in treating the hand should know its exact anatomy. On top of static structure of a cadaver hand, anatomical knowledge of a functioning hand is mandatory. The hand is not an inorganic machine, but a living organ. It is necessary to understand why the structure has come to the present shape and aligned in the hand. Anatomy of the hand is sometimes tedious for medical students who have to memorize numerous tissues with complex academic terminology. The main object of this book is to learn the dynamic anatomy of the reader's own hand rather than that of a cadaver's static dead hand. This book would serve as an oasis for the medical students to refresh their interest in the hand anatomy. This book was published primarily as a reference for hand surgeons. But, it became popular among orthopedic surgeons, plastic surgeons, and surgeons in other fields. Thereafter, hand-therapists, physiotherapists and occupational therapists gradually increased in number as the readers. Many robot researchers, teachers for children, and some musicians who were keenly interested in the hand anatomy joined the group. It was an unexpected pleasure and happiness for the author, who wishes the contribution of this book to the progress of hand surgery as well as for the promotion of world peace. The contents of this English edition published in 2018 are as follows. Chapter 1 Functions of the hand 1. Functions of the hand 2. Dysfunctions of the hand 3. How to evaluate the hand function Chapter 2 Birth and development of the hand 1. Phylogeny of the hand 2. Development and growth of the hand in the human embryo Chapter 3 Surface anatomy of the hand 1. Skin anatomy 2. Motion analysis Chapter 4 Deep anatomy of the hand 1. Bone 2. Joint 3. Muscle and tendon 4. Tendon sheath 5. Fasciae 6. Fascial space 7. Nerve 8. Artery 9. Vein 10. Lymphatic system Many illustrations are used instead of unclear photos to emphasize important points. The right hand is only employed in these photos and illustrations. The all 199 illustrations and photos will help you easily and precisely understand the function and anatomy of the hand.

Book Hand and Wrist Anatomy and Biomechanics

Download or read book Hand and Wrist Anatomy and Biomechanics written by Bernhard Hirt and published by Thieme. This book was released on 2016-10-12 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hand and Wrist Anatomy and Biomechanics A Comprehensive Guide There is a saying that "hand surgery without a tourniquet is like repairing a clock in a barrel full of dark ink." Operating without a sound fundamental knowledge of anatomy can be compared to "stirring around in the soup." Classic anatomy instruction covers only a fraction of the area of hand surgery: bones, muscles/ligaments, vessels, and nerves. The many different connective-tissue structures are often only briefly highlighted. The complex interaction of the various structures remains a mystery to most. This book presents the specialty of applied anatomy and is intended for medical professionals involved with the hand and its functionality: hand surgeons, trauma specialists, orthopaedists, plastic surgeons, occupational therapists, and physio-therapists. Key Features: Almost 150 illustrations, anatomical drawings, and photos of anatomy in vivo. Up-to-date information on clinical aspects such as diseases, their causes, and their treatment. Part 1 deals with the anatomy and functional anatomy of the hand Part 2 is dedicated to the surface anatomy of the structures of the forearm, wrist, and hand

This book was released on 2015-08-05 with total page 66 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Anatomy and Functions of the Muscles of the Hand and of the Extensor Tendons of the Thumb The following observations were made in dissection of fifty-three hands. If it be asked why a special study of parts of the Human Body, which have been long known, should occupy the attention of the anatomist, when there are so many opportunities for fresh research, I will say that the investigator will be amply rewarded in thus re-examining regions that have been studied by former anatomists; he will often discover serious misconceptions of previous observers, and be able to correct descriptions which have for years been accepted as true ones. Book The Evolution of the Primate Hand

Download or read book The Evolution of the Primate Hand written by Tracy L. Kivell and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-08-10 with total page 587 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book demonstrates how the primate hand combines both primitive and novel morphology, both general function with specialization, and both a remarkable degree of diversity within some clades and yet general similarity across many others. Across the chapters, different authors have addressed a variety of specific questions and provided their perspectives, but all explore the main themes described above to provide an overarching “primitive primate hand” thread to the book. Each chapter provides an in-depth review and critical account of the available literature, a balanced interpretation of the evidence from a variety of perspectives, and prospects for future research questions. In order to make this a useful resource for researchers at all levels, the basic structure of each chapter is the same, so that information can be easily consulted from chapter to chapter. An extensive reference list is provided at the end of each chapter so the reader has additional resources to address more specific questions or to find specific data.
