Book excerpt: Green survived a tornado, but now the town faces a new storm—one that threatens the schools! As Green continues to recover from a horrendous tornado, newlyweds Lois and Chris just want to return to a normal life in their home on Route Two. But even more threats to Green loom on the horizon. The state of Louisiana announces plans to close Green’s schools, which will put Chris out of work and end a long-standing tradition of community pride. Lois and Chris know the loss will crush the community and harm students forced to travel more than an hour to classes. Then there’s that new highway that’s creeping even closer . . . But Green has another tradition: Rallying around each other. Newspaper owner Lois, Mayor Eva, and college students unite to fight the bureaucrats, with some surprising—and unexpected results. "A tender tale filled with community, friendship, and love. Judy Christie creates characters you'll want to know and places you'll want to be. Don't miss your chance to rally round with the Gang from Green!" -- Lisa Wingate, National Bestselling Author of Larkspur Cove and Dandelion Summer "Have you gone to Green yet? If not, you're missing out on all the fun. Think small southern towns are boring? Then visit Green, Louisiana and get to know Lois and Chris and their friends, families and ... animals! First, it was Gone to Green, then Goodness Gracious Green, then the Glory of Green and now it's time to Rally Round Green. Politics, potluck, storms, secrets, meth labs and remodeling, dogs and more dogs, and oh yes, chickens. Can't forget the chickens. Rally Round Green is the best Green book yet! What are you waiting for? C'mon on down to Green and find out what all the fuss is about!" -- Lenora Worth, author of Hometown Sweetheart

Book excerpt: The Negro Motorist Green Book was a groundbreaking guide that provided African American travelers with crucial information on safe places to stay, eat, and visit during the era of segregation in the United States. This essential resource, originally published from 1936 to 1966, offered a lifeline to black motorists navigating a deeply divided nation, helping them avoid the dangers and indignities of racism on the road. Download or read book Six Sigma Green Belt Round 2 written by Tracy L. Owens and published by Quality Press. This book was released on 2011-07-15 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You've been trained and tested and you've been successful. Now, where will you take it from here? This book is intended for the Green Belt or anybody who has attended Six Sigma training and has been coached through a complete project, and who now wants to or needs to step out on their own and manage improvement projects without a dedicated coach. For a Green Belt, it is probable that the first project was coached by another Six Sigma practitioner, either within the organization or consulting for them, and that the coach’s performance may have been evaluated based on the success of the Green Belt’s project. Now that the first project is done, the coach has likely moved on to the next new Green Belt candidate. So, what happens to yesterday’s Green Belt? Detailed in these pages is a user-friendly guide to completing an improvement project quickly and thoroughly. The author has identified the nine most critical elements of a project and presented the tools needed to deliver those nine. A person who has been exposed to Six Sigma training will not have a difficult time understanding and applying the tools and techniques presented. Even a non-Green Belt will find this material to be usable with only a little coaching. Dotted throughout the book are descriptions of team meetings, five in all, that will serve the purpose of delivering the nine critical elements in a 90-day time frame. The book’s final chapter is intended as a guide to process management and process improvement in or outside the context of an improvement project. Once the concepts and topics become familiar to the reader, Chapter 10 can be read independently and repeatedly to help the organization manage its processes and improve them every day.

Download or read book Integral Green Slovenia written by Darja Piciga and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-06-03 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ronnie Lessem and Alexander Schieffer's Integral Green Society and Economy series has three overarching aims. The first is to link together two major movements of our time, one philosophical, the other practical. The philosophical movement is towards what many today are calling an 'integral' age, while the practical is the 'green' movement, duly aligned with that of sustainable development. The second is to blend together elements of nature and community, culture and spirituality, science and technology, politics and economics, thus serving to bring about an 'integral green' vision, albeit with a focus on business and economics. As such, the authors transcend the limitations to sustainable development and environmental economics, which are overly ecological, if not also technological, in orientation, and exclude social and cultural elements. Thirdly, this particular volume, with Darja Piciga, focuses specifically on Slovenia, as well as on Europe generally, drawing on the particular issues and capacities that this country and continent represents, particularly for sustainable development and social knowledge-based economy. The emphasis on Slovenia arose, not only because it lies at the heart of Europe, but because a specific movement for an Integral Green Slovenian Society and Economy, has been co-evolved there, by the three editors in conjunction with Slovene organisations, communities and movements, with a view to integrating existing and emerging knowledge resources, initiatives and practices into a model, as an alternative to austerity, for Slovenia and other European countries.
