Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The attention of many in the church has been misdirected away from the love of God to the love of money, wealth, and possessions. Yes! God does bless his people, but false prophets, false doctrines, the spirit of deception, and greed in the heart is causing many individuals to forget the purpose of God's call. He first called us to his Son, Jesus, then to salvation, love, mercy, forgiveness, humility, and in this process, he will provide for us so that we do not have to sell our souls to survive or have what we need. Sometimes, we look more at what we want than what we really need; we need him""the Lord! Everything else comes with having him first. What message are churches giving to the younger generations? The children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of some of God's people are learning one lesson""one bad lesson""that God is a bank where they can go only to make withdrawals and never make a deposit; a deposit of their lives to him. For when their needs are met, they do not return to the house of God again until there's another need. The churches must change from sending this kind of message, especially to the younger generations. Greed and the love of money can lead us down the wrong path and blind us. In Jesus's temptation in the wilderness, Satan offered him all the kingdoms and riches of the world. Jesus rejected and refused all of it because he loved the Father more, and he did not want anything from Satan. Would you want a friend, husband, wife, etc. to love you because of what they can get from you? I would hope that the church, all the body of Christ, would more and more see God as the loving Father that he is, forgiving, merciful, long-suffering, and always waiting for us to come and not look at him as someone we go to only when we need something; the Lord God and his Son, Jesus, are to be loved, worshipped, praised, and adored. To all the sheep, apostles, prophets, pastors, evangelists, teachers, and all the body of the Lord Jesus who have lost sight of who the Lord is and have lost sight of the purpose of his call, let the Word of God restore the vision of himself to you again.

Book Exceedingly Abundantly

Download or read book Exceedingly Abundantly written by Jacqueline Mingo and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2005-09 with total page 147 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Exceedingly Abundantly was written specifically for Christians who desire to break free from the curse of debt. Having credit is not necessarily a bad thing; credit is often required to operate within this world's financial system. It is the misuse and abuse of credit that creates the bondage of debt in Christians' and non-Christians' lives. Exceedingly Abundantly is a testimony that uses biblical principles and practical examples to help guide Christians to their debt freedom. Many Christians are saddled with an exorbitant amount of debt-robbing God of the tithe and spending their way through situations that only God can fix. After coming to heavily rely on numerous credit cards with high balances, author Jacqueline Mingo was initially ashamed and extremely uncomfortable with her debt. But through her faith, Jacqueline realized that she didn't have to live under such bondage. Through her experience, you too can have the power of freedom from debt and financial independence!

We [have] come to have a delimited and skewed view on debt and its economy ... In this book, I argue, a more holistic social ethics of debt is established by reintegrating these two essential elements of debt: logic and story. From the perspective of a more holistic ethics of debt, neoliberal concept of debt is problematic because by neglecting the story aspect of debt, it has enervated the moral ethos of debt rendering it as a matter of mere contract and mechanical calculation"--Introduction.

Book From Greed to Grace

Download or read book From Greed to Grace written by David McCracken and published by Strategic Book Publishing. This book was released on 2011-04 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From Greed to Grace is the story of one man's struggle to find his path through life from a meager beginning to what many Christians would call a successful conclusion. Author David McCracken's unhappy childhood took place in the 1940s on a small 200-acre farm in Lyon County, Kansas, without running water or electricity. Attending Sunday school at the age of nine for a couple months was the only framework upon which he could build a Christian life. Yet as a teen, he cried out for God's help. The author had no knowledge of the Holy Spirit at that time, but sensed that God heard his prayer and a peace came over the author. The heart of this memoir is devoted to the transformation the author went through that includes his years of struggle to overcome greed and allow God to guide his steps; how he became a successful self-taught day trader in the stock market; and how he won a 39-year-old claim with the VA. Along the way, McCracken served in the United States Air Force, taught speech and debate, was an award-winning debate coach, learned the stock market and became a religious man. This stunning book about overcoming adversity will open windows when others have tried to close doors. JDavid McCracken is now retired and living in Arizona. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How many individuals and corporations would steal or lie to get more money? Money can be used for so much that it's one of the most desired things in this world. But while some people work, get paid, or run an honest business, others steal and cheat to get their hands on more. And once they have more, it's not enough. What about you? Is there greed in you? And is greed always evil? Or does it motivate us to do compete as well? What does the Bible say about greed? How does God look at greed? But wait, don't we need some money? Is money always wrong? We've heard it before: The love of money is the root of all evil. Greed, or avarice, has caused many to "err from the faith" according to Paul, who wrote to Timothy. "Flee these things," he said, urging him--and all of us--to concentrate on Christlike qualities instead of worldly possessions, and on treasures in heaven, not on earth. In this book, the author sheds more light on topics like: The definition of greed, and an array of scriptural references and stories related to it.. Five reasonable yet deceitful reasons why people seek to accumulate wealth, and why some are willing to go against their conscience to do so. How the commandment not to have any graven images relates to the modern-day luxuries we chase after. The four different types of greed. Spiritual insights that refer to Jesus' third temptation in the desert. Current and recent ugly faces of greed, including historical instances, evil companies that have no regard for human life, scheming governments, and shady scammers. Some serious consequences of greed. Various ways in which the commandment "thou shalt not steal" is applicable today. How forsaking greed helps collect heavenly treasures Various ways in which the commandment "thou shalt not steal" is applicable today. Three reasons why money will never satisfy, and how to break free from the demonic grip of greed. Greed is everywhere. It is almost unavoidable. Open your eyes and see the world for how it is. It lies in sin, and one of the best ways to escape the tempter's snares, is to learn about it and be abhorred by it. Stay away from the world. John mentioned, "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world" (1 John 2:15). If we let go of the possessions that so easily possess us, we can focus more on God and His purposes. If this is your intent, then rid yourself of the prevalent sin of greed and start reading. Click on "Add to cart" now!

In the wake of a sobering global recession, many Christians realize they need to rethink their approach to money. Here respected New Testament scholar Ben Witherington III explores what the Bible does--and doesn't--say about money. He clearly and concisely examines what Jesus and his earliest followers taught about wealth and poverty, money and debt, and tithing and sacrificial giving to help readers understand the proper role of money in modern Christian life. Along the way, he critiques the faith promise and health-and-wealth approaches to these issues, showing what good stewardship of God's possessions really looks like. Church study groups, pastors, church leaders, students, and all who are concerned about making sense of money in a world of economic uncertainty will value this book.
