Book Shakespeare and the First Hamlet

Download or read book Shakespeare and the First Hamlet written by Terri Bourus and published by Berghahn Books. This book was released on 2022-06-10 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first edition of Hamlet – often called ‘Q1’, shorthand for ‘first quarto’ – was published in 1603, in what we might regard as the early modern equivalent of a cheap paperback. Yet this early version of Shakespeare’s classic tragedy is becoming increasingly canonical, not because there is universal agreement about what it is or what it means, but because more and more Shakespearians agree that it is worth arguing about. The essays in this collected volume explore the ways in which we might approach Q1’s Hamlet, from performance to book history, from Shakespeare’s relationships with his contemporaries to the shape of his whole career.

In modern times, the sexy unofficial vampire boss gets in deep trouble after her group's move to St. Louis. Along with her right hand vamp "Scummy" (who battles an eternal hangover, an everlasting erection and extreme lack of couth) and a cast of other assorted degenerates, they must prepare for one last battle against an old antagonist from days past. None of this is made easier by the training of new "rookie" vampire, a local St. Louis "hoosier", along the way. Imagine if vampires were far more human than anyone gives them credit for but too rich, too bored, and too immortal to play by any of the rules.

Book The Good The Bad and The Silly

Download or read book The Good The Bad and The Silly written by Ranjit Kulkarni and published by Athena Creations. This book was released on 2020-04-29 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Get Ready for Swami and Jigneshbhai! The one thing that Jigneshbhai likes is a quite life. But his restless friend doesn't let him have much of it. Especially when it comes to his health. "My cholesterol has gone up. My triglycerides are also on the higher side, The sugar level is also not very comfortable. I am on the edge of being prediabetic," Swami announced, and that was just the start. When that innocent health check-up report was seen by Raji Periamma, it leads to Swami and Jigneshbhai meeting a specialist. And it turns out to be only the first step in a series of unexpected episodes. It starts with an accidental meet with astrologers, leads them to a funny drunkard and results in some unnecessary action at the cinema hall. It starts a set of funny coincidences and uneasy trickery leading up to a temple visit that shakes Swami’s faith. As Jigneshbhai and Swami manoeuvre this motley group of the bad and the silly, it takes a speech and a doctor’s appointment for the confusion to unwind and let the multiple cats out of the multiple bags! The author builds an intriguing tale of good vs evil through a set of motley silly characters and everyday situations that accompany Swami's book smartness and Jigneshbhai's street smartness. Often delving into the difference between knowledge and wisdom with philosophical musings, the author peppers them with tongue-in-cheek humour. The characters of the wealthy old man and a spiritual talking dog Deja add a taste of comic wisdom. Ranjit Kulkarni takes us on a ride with Jigneshbhai and Swami in his debut novel - a ride that is a mix of humour and wisdom, and as the title aptly suggests a mix of the good, the bad and the silly.

Book The In Between Spaces of Asylum and Migration

Download or read book The In Between Spaces of Asylum and Migration written by Zoë O’Reilly and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-11-16 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on ethnographic research with asylum seekers living in a ‘direct provision’ centre in Ireland, and comprising participatory visual methods, this work offers a unique examination of the ‘direct provision’ system that analyses the tensions between exclusion and marginalization, and involvement and engagement with local communities. It gives voice to the perspectives of residents themselves through an analysis of photographic images and texts created by the participants of the project, providing fresh insight into the everyday experiences of living in these liminal zones between borders, and the various forms of attachment, engagement and belonging that they create. While the book’s empirical focus is on the Irish context, the analysis sheds light on broader policies and experiences of exclusion and the increasing number of liminal spaces between and within borders in which people seeking protection wait. Situated at the intersection of social anthropology, human geography and participatory arts and visual culture, it will appeal to scholars and students focusing on migration and asylum, ethnicity and integration, as well as those with an interest in participatory and visual research methods.

Those forgettable games, seasons, and plays that made the good times even better? The Good, the Bad, & the Ugly presents all the best moments and personalities in the history of the Seattle Seahawks. There are Seahawks you loved for all the right reasons, and those you couldn't stand, sublime and embarrassing records, and trades, both savvy and savagely bad. Brawls and fights. Rivalries. Compelling photos. And much, much more. If you're a through-thick-and-thin Seahawks fan, The Good, the Bad, & the Ugly is especially for you. It will remind you of the good and great times and bring a knowing smile about some of those other times, when you proved to yourself just how loyal you are. For everyone else, this warts-and-all portrait of the Seahawks will provide countless fond memories, goose bumps, and laughs.
