  • Pages : 300 pages

Download or read book God Has a Name written by John Mark Comer and published by Thomas Nelson. This book was released on 2024-10-15 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What you believe about God sets the foundation of the person you will become. In God Has a Name, pastor and New York Times bestselling author John Mark Comer invites you to rethink many of the prevalent myths and misconceptions about God and weigh them against what God actually tells us about himself. After all, what you believe about God will ultimately shape the type of person you become. We all live at the mercy of our ideas, and nowhere is this more true than our ideas about God. The problem is many of our ideas about God are wrong. Not all wrong, but wrong enough to form our souls in detrimental and disheartening ways. God Has a Name is a simple yet profound guide to understanding God in a new light--focusing on what God says about himself in the Bible. This one shift has the potential to radically alter how you relate to God, not as a doctrine, but as a relational being who responds to you in an elastic, back-and-forth way. John Mark Comer takes you line by line through Exodus 34:6-8--Yahweh's self-revelation on Mount Sinai, one of the most quoted passages in the Bible. Along the way, Comer addresses some of the most profound questions he came across as he studied these noted lines in Exodus, including: Why do we feel this gap between us and God? Could it be that a lot of what we think about God is wrong? Not all wrong, but wrong enough to mess up how we relate to him? What if our "God" is really a projection of our own identity, ideas, and desires? What if the real God is different, but far better than we could ever imagine? No matter where you are in your spiritual journey, God Has a Name invites you to step into a fresh and biblically rooted vision of who God is that has the potential to alter your life with God and shape who you become.

Book From Apocalypticism to Merkabah Mysticism

Download or read book From Apocalypticism to Merkabah Mysticism written by Andrei Orlov and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2006-12-01 with total page 502 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present volume contains essays dealing with the Second Temple Jewish traditions and documents preserved solely in their Slavonic translations. It examines these Slavonic pseudepigraphical materials in the context of their mediating role in the development of early Jewish mystical traditions from Second Temple apocalypticism to Merkabah mysticism attested in rabbinic and Hekhalot materials. The book represents the first attempt to study Slavonic pseudepigrapha collectively as a unique group of texts that share common theophanic and mediatorial imagery crucial for the development of early Jewish mysticism. The study demonstrates that mediatorial traditions of the exalted patriarchs and prophets played an important role in facilitating the transition from apocalypticism to early Jewish mysticism.

Book Moses

  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 72 pages

Download or read book Moses written by Tumisang Mabe and published by Tumisang Mabe. This book was released on 2024-02-09 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Moses was a man chosen by God after the prophecy God told Abraham that his descendants will be in a foreign land away from their promise land and they will be enslaved for four generations depicting four hundred years. And He told him after this time he would rescue them by His mighty hand and punish the nation that enslaved them. When this time came God had no choice but to free his people from slavery and start his kingdom with them on the earth that he had promised his friend Abraham. He chose Moses to show His marvelous power when He frees His people from the yoke of the Egyptians Moses knew all about the gods of the Egyptians but trusted and saw that the God of his people the Israelites was greater than the gods of the Egyptians. We read that Moses was the most humble man of his day. I believe God loved him more for his character and humbleness even above his calling as the bible teaches that, "He resists the proud and gives grace to the humble." Let's take this journey of the man born to free God's people from slavery. The ministry of Moses was a very huge ministry it was like no other ministry we have ever read about in the bible. Moses was in ministry every day and night, if anything happened in the camp of the Israelites answers would be required from him. He was a mediator between the people and God. When God was angry with the people Moses would advocate for them and brought peace. Moses became a friend of God. In the bible we read that Abraham was a friend of God and we are also told that God addressed Moses as someone would speak to his friend. (Exodus 33:11) However in the journey Moses did something that made him to leave ministry and let others take over from him but this man journeyed with God and the Israelites in an amazing way. This was the man who taught a much broader view about the ways of Priesthood and altars. I am aware of Abraham and others but Moses was taken by God to a much high order of priesthood. This Man went to a place were normal men don't go. He saw things that happened back in eternity. He saw things that happened back when God created the heavens and the earth. He saw the creation of men and angels.

Book Gleanings in Exodus

    Book Details:
  • Author : Arthur W. Pink
  • Publisher : Sovereign Grace Publishers,
  • Release : 2002-09
  • ISBN : 1589603125
  • Pages : 390 pages

Download or read book Gleanings in Exodus written by Arthur W. Pink and published by Sovereign Grace Publishers,. This book was released on 2002-09 with total page 390 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Historically, the book of Exodus treats of the deliverance of Israel from Egypt; but viewed doctrinally, it deals with redemption. Just as the first book of the Bible teaches that God elects unto salvation, so the second instructs us how God saves, namely, by redemption. Redemption, then, is the dominant subject of Exodus. Following this, we are shown what we are redeemed for-worship, and this characterizes Leviticus, where we learn of the holy requirements of God and the gracious provisions He has made to meet these. In Numbers we have the walk and warfare of the wilderness, where we have a typical representation of our experiences as we pass through this scene of sin and trial-our repeated and excuseless failures, and God's long-sufferance and faithfulness.
