Book The Future Supply of Nature Made Petroleum and Gas

Download or read book The Future Supply of Nature Made Petroleum and Gas written by R. F. Meyer and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 1105 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Future Supply of Nature-made Petroleum and Gas Technical Reports is a collection of papers that covers various issues and concerns in the world petroleum supply. The materials in the book are organized thematically into sections. The text first covers the world perspectives of conventional petroleum, and then proceeds to discussing the classification of petroleum resources. Section III deals with the conventional oil and gas deposits, while Section IV talks about enhanced oil recovery. Next, the selection deals with gases in tight formations, along with tar sand, heavy oil, and oil shale deposits. The eighth section tackles gases in geopressured reservoirs, while the ninth section details other unconventional petroleum and gas deposits. The last section deals with concerns in technology transfer of petroleum and gas technology. The book will be of great use to researchers and practitioners in disciplines involved in the petroleum industry.

Book The Future of Oil as a Source of Energy

Download or read book The Future of Oil as a Source of Energy written by The Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research and published by Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research. This book was released on 2002-08-12 with total page 43 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines various aspects of the future of oil as a source of energy, including future oil supply, oil demand and market stability. It reflects the analysis and assessments of the energy experts who gathered at the ECSSR's Sixth Annual Energy Conference, entitled The Future of Oil as a Source of Energy. Although the future supply of oil is difficult to forecast due to many uncertainties around production and reserve data, it is estimated that oil from the Gulf and other non-syndicated oil producing regions will form the larger part of global oil supplies after 2010. The volume also explores the potential of alternative energy sources like gas, hydrogen and renewable sources. Despite the projected increase in energy demand due to population growth and higher standards of living in the developed world, heightened environmental concerns and policies to reduce damaging emissions are likely to reduce oil؟s share in the energy market over time. A combination of conversion technologies and energy sources, including natural gas, renewable energy and hydrogen, now has the potential to form more than niche markets in the currently oil-dominated energy sector, at least in certain parts of the globe. Nevertheless, it is expected that oil will continue to be the energy source of choice for most regions.

Book Trends in Oil Supply and Demand the Potential for Peaking of Conventional Oil Production and Possible Mitigation Options

Download or read book Trends in Oil Supply and Demand the Potential for Peaking of Conventional Oil Production and Possible Mitigation Options written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2006-02-17 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent events and analyses have suggested that global production of oil might peak sometime within the next few years to the next one or two decades. Other analyses, however, conclude that oil supply can meet global demand for some decades to come and that oil production peaking is much further off. To explore this issue, the NRC held a workshop, funded by the Department of Energy, bringing together analysts representing these different views. The workshop was divided into four main sessions: setting the stage; future global oil supply and demand balance; mitigation options and time to implementation; and potential follow-up activities. This report provides a summary of the workshop including the key points, issues and questions raised by the participants, and it identifies possible topics for follow-up studies. No consensus views, conclusions, or recommendations are presented.

Book The Refinery of the Future

Download or read book The Refinery of the Future written by James G. Speight and published by William Andrew. This book was released on 2010-12-21 with total page 410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As feedstocks to refineries change, there must be an accompanying change in refinery technology. This means a movement from conventional means of refining heavy feedstocks using (typically) coking technologies to more innovative processes that will coax the last drips of liquid fuels from the feedstock. This book presents the evolution of refinery processes during the last century and as well as the means by which refinery processes will evolve during the next three-to-five decades. Chapters contain material relevant to (1) comparisons of current feedstocks with heavy oil and bio-feedstocks; (2) evolution of refineries since the 1950s, (3) properties and refinability of heavy oil and bio-feedstocks, (4) thermal processes vs. hydroprocesses, and (5) evolution of products to match the environmental market. Process innovations that have influenced refinery processing over the past three decades are presented, as well as the relevant patents that have the potential for incorporation into future refineries.• Comparison of current feedstocks with heavy oil and bio-feedstocks. • Evolution of refineries over the past three decades. • Properties and refinability of heavy oil and bio-feedstocks. • Thermal processes vs. Hydroprocesses. • Evolution of products to match the environmental market. - Investigates the engineering and plant design challenges presented by heavy oil and bio-feedstocks - Explores the legislatory and regulatory climate, including increasingly stringent environmental requirements - Examines the trade-offs of thermal processes vs. hydroprocesses
