Download or read book Resources to Reserves 2013 written by International Energy Agency and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The availability of oil and gas for future generations continues to provoke international debate. In 2005, the first edition of Resources to Reserves found that the known hydrocarbon resources were sufficient to sustain likely growth for the foreseeable future. Yet the book also predicted that developing oil and gas resources - and bringing them to market - would become more technically demanding. Resources to Reserves 2013 - a comprehensive update to the 2005 edition - confirms these earlier findings and investigates whether oil and gas resources can be produced at a reasonable cost and in a timely manner, while also protecting environmentally sensitive areas. Released amid a boom in shale gas and oil development in North America that is transforming the global energy landscape, the book surveys the cutting-edge technologies needed to find, produce and bring these reserves to the market, and it reviews the challenges on greenhouse gas emissions associated with fossil fuel production. With renewed interest in coal as a potential source of liquid and gaseous fuels, it also looks at technology advances for this fossil fuel.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The precipitous fall in oil prices, continued geopolitical instability and the ongoing global climate negotiations are witness to the dynamic nature of energy markets. In a time of so much uncertainty, understanding the implications of the shifting energy landscape for economic and environmental goals and for energy security is vital. The World Energy Outlook 2015 (WEO-2015) will present updated projections for the evolution of the global energy system to 2040, based on the latest data and market developments, as well as detailed insights on the prospects for fossil fuels, renewables, the power sector and energy efficiency and analysis on trends in CO2 emissions and fossil-fuel and renewable energy subsidies.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For multi-user PDF licensing, please contact customer service. Energy touches our lives in countless ways and its costs are felt when we fill up at the gas pump, pay our home heating bills, and keep businesses both large and small running. There are long-term costs as well: to the environment, as natural resources are depleted and pollution contributes to global climate change, and to national security and independence, as many of the world's current energy sources are increasingly concentrated in geopolitically unstable regions. The country's challenge is to develop an energy portfolio that addresses these concerns while still providing sufficient, affordable energy reserves for the nation. The United States has enormous resources to put behind solutions to this energy challenge; the dilemma is to identify which solutions are the right ones. Before deciding which energy technologies to develop, and on what timeline, we need to understand them better. America's Energy Future analyzes the potential of a wide range of technologies for generation, distribution, and conservation of energy. This book considers technologies to increase energy efficiency, coal-fired power generation, nuclear power, renewable energy, oil and natural gas, and alternative transportation fuels. It offers a detailed assessment of the associated impacts and projected costs of implementing each technology and categorizes them into three time frames for implementation.
Download or read book Critical Analysis of World Uranium Resources written by Susan Hall and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2014-06-30 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The U.S. Department of Energy, Energy Information Administration (EIA) joined with the U.S. Department of the Interior, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) to analyze the world uranium supply and demand balance. To evaluate short- term primary supply (0-15 years), the analysis focused on Reasonably Assured Resources (RAR), which are resources pro- jected with a high degree of geologic assurance and considered to be economically feasible to mine. Such resources include uranium resources from mines currently in production as well as resources that are in the stages of feasibility or of being permit- ted. Sources of secondary supply for uranium, such as stockpiles and reprocessed fuel, were also examined. To evaluate long- term primary supply, estimates of uranium from unconventional and from undiscovered resources were analyzed.

Download or read book Natural Gas Market Assessment written by Canada. National Energy Board and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excess productive capacity has gradually decreased in the natural gas market. This report provides information and the Board's observations on these changed conditions and then looks ahead to examine the prospects for gas supply over the period 1993 to 1996. The analysis and outlook are directed to both peak day and annual gas supply. A historical review of gas supply over 10 years is provided, including observations on the excess of deliverability over production, changes in remaining reserves, the trend in reserves-to-production ratios, trends in production, connection rates, gas storage, the response of Alberta supply in peak demand periods and recent developments. The Baord's methodology for estimating productive capacity is described and the results of the Board's analysis of Western Canada's productive capacity are presented and compared with other deliverability studies. A summary of the current and anticipated pipeline capacity in the producing provinces is presented and estimates for productive capacity are compared with pipeline capacity. Observations on factors influencing the interpretation of results conclude the document.

This book was released on 2002 with total page 15 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report examines the factors which affect gas supply in the short term in the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin, and presents an outlook for gas deliverability in 2004. The main objective is to advance understanding of the short-term gas supply situation by examining recent trends in the production characteristics of the Basin and applying these trends to a short-term forecast. A historical review of natural gas production & drilling activity for the Basin is also provided. The outlook is restricted to conventional supplies, with analytical results in terms of initial productivity and production decline rates of a typical connection. The outlook does not assess the potential for development of coalbed methane or tight gas, and does not include withdrawals from storage reservoirs.
