Book Voice of Nonconformity

Download or read book Voice of Nonconformity written by Keith A Ives and published by Lutterworth Press. This book was released on 2011-05-26 with total page 458 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "A study of William Robertson Nicoll, a non-conformist individual who had considerable influence in the late 19th Century. Originally a minister, he was considered a great leader and was also a theological conservative, and therefore committed to maintaining the orthodox stance of the Christian Churches, but at the same time, he encouraged many of the new ideas, which he felt would prove a useful and hopeful benefit for the Church. Due to health issues he was later forced to retire his position and focused on work as an editor and journalist, bringing with him the same sense of leadership he had previously been known for. The debate over his legacy continues and is addressed within this study using previously unstudied information on Nicoll's life."

Book When The Church Rides the Beast

Download or read book When The Church Rides the Beast written by Franklin S. Fowler Jr. and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2015-08-07 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book candidly unfolds Revelation 13, 17, and 18, which describe who the apocalyptic antichrist is! In the very heart of Johns end-time prophetic narrative comes stunning imagery of the final three phases of this powerful being and his church. They are the fulfillment of Daniels prophecies of the little horn, vile person, and king of the north! With unreserved clarity, John is told that this religious power would be centered in the city of the seven hills with stunning geopolitical ties to the leaders of the world. The clues of when it begins are amazing. It is inaugurated at a time when a woman and a beasta church and a statehave merged. There is no other conclusion that can be drawn than that this is when the Roman Catholic Church was awarded the Vatican City State in 1929. The papal leaders from that point on, with its final forty-two months of history, are given in vivid detail. In arresting detail, God discloses the horrifying suppressive power this church will soon wield and the worlds gullible worship of its falsehoods. This amazing document mines the very depths of truths God has revealed, as never before, for us today.

Book In the End God

  • Author : John AT Robinson
  • Publisher : James Clarke & Company
  • Release : 2011-05-26

  • Pages : 251 pages

Download or read book In the End God written by John AT Robinson and published by James Clarke & Company. This book was released on 2011-05-26 with total page 251 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Death, judgement, heaven and hell - these are the 'Four Last Things' traditionally linked together under the heading of 'Eschatology'. In this book, John Robinson examines them all with trenchancy and lucidity, providing a new and vital understanding of how these themes relate to contemporary Christian life. In the End, God ... identifies a gap that exists in the treatment of eschatology within the Christian faith. As Robinson points out, eschatology had traditionally dealt with the last things in a way that is remote and removed from everyday life and Christianity, and the goal of his book is to make eschatology fully relevant to the modern world. Although it is commonly held that eschatology within modern Christianity is centred on the fact and moment of death, Robinson shows that the true nature of eschatology is something quite different. It is not about the last things after everything else, but rather is about the relation of all things to the 'last things' or, as it were, about the 'lastness' of all things. Revealing the foundation of biblical eschatology to be the experience of God by the community of faith, Robinson calls readers to embrace the eschatological vision of the Bible, but to do so in a way that is alert to its mythic character. In the course of these explorations he also lays bare his own theology of universal salvation. However, contrary to what one may expect, this universalism is one that seeks to take both human freedom and the reality of hell with the utmost seriousness. This special edition of John A.T. Robinson's classic text also includes an extended introductory essay by Professor Trevor Hart of the University of St Andrews, and an exchange between Robinson and Thomas F. Torrance, first published in 1949 in the Scottish Journal of Theology."

Book Revelation The Great Enigma

Download or read book Revelation The Great Enigma written by Dr. Nathan Ogan and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2015-09-09 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the most difficult portions of the New Testament to consider and discuss with any real sense of certainty is the book of Revelation. While its title in Greek means to "uncover," or "disclose," the book seems to be more confounding in its content than enlightening for contemporary readers. So we might ask, "How could such an elusive and complicated text come to be called Revelation?" Considering the diversity of opinions and interpretations of the book, would it be more fitting to call it The Great Enigma? Even the author himself seems perplexed at times by what he hears and sees... "Astonished" is the term he uses in Revelation 17:7. While my intent certainly isn't to disparage the author by inferring that the book defies beneficial definition, it is to face the truth of the rather perplexing place Revelation holds in Christian literature.
