Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is about Induma: There are many creatures on this planet that is much like earth, it was ''made'' according to their belief by Evangeline-the ''Angel'' of redemption. Moriane was born on Evangeline's star but was banished for her bloodthirsty nature-Tarn the Demon of the underworld is much like we would see Hades but a little different-he has compassion. Anyway Induma has one sun (the Great Star) and two moons (the Arrents') the normal Stars they call 'Tears of the Angel' or simply 'Orbs of light, Sparks from the Life-bringer' (the sun). At night in the summer, sometimes (but only if there are no Arrents, the Plants' flowers will glow, sand, patterns on certain animals and such will shine-its kind of like camouflage) Induma is 'Destined' to fall right before the angel is healed and returns home. What survives her wrath and retribution will be lead by her healer in the second book. the healer is Arikka the daughter of Elysiums' king Matyus and Tartaroos' queen Lyndsey, but the child is ''illegitimate'' and her mom tried to kill her-later Jaysen adopts herKFor more read the book. This one is about Jaysen: He has cobalt blue eyes that are shot through with slightly tarnished silver. He is a knight and message bearer to both kingdoms-his heart belongs to his wife Marria pronounced Mariah, he is about 5'7'' and weighs roughly...135lbs. He has a generous mouth, chiseled features and usually has a 5 o'clock shadow. He is loyal to Tararoo and King Rodryc, he despises Elysium and King Matyus, has pity on Queen Shyloe and kills Queen Lyndsey. He adopts children and helps many others, but he usually does not keep the children he finds. His parents died of some illness when he was young and he was raised by the Klyne so he is a little detached and has a raw undertone. He doesnt really like the ''Angel'' Moriane but loves ''Her Consort'' Tarn. Jaysens' true name is Mitah while the name most know him as is Knight Jaysen Night or simply 'Messenger'. The knight likes helping and his greatest fear is that he will not make a difference in the world he so loves. Jaysen is...loyal only to those he really loves. He is human to a fault he is a telepath and a self-healer, he also can heal others. His blood creates roses (colored by his emotions, thoughts, or whim) in the great-stars' (the suns) light, the light is also the only was he can heal himself or others. Occasionally he cannot heal himself, and usually will not heal others especially if he has been sick, injured recently or suspects himself of being poisoned because his blood transfers the poison or illness. Not only that but it also hurts. Jaysen can kill without feeling until he is by himself or trying to sleep. The Pulkan (vampires, lycans, ect as well as gifted humans ect..) have a special interest in him because he is supposed to raise a child who is too heal Moriane (the angel) and send her back to her domain with Tarn, returning a different creature to look after the remaints of the inhabitants of Induma. (I hope you fall in love with him, I did..)

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Long before man came to live on Marley Knott's Mountain, it was foretold by a mountain circuit rider who came and held a tent revival around the foothills of that mountain that God would use that mountain to bring forth a multitude of souls to the Lord. People had come far and wide to the revival, and witnessed the power of God to heal and deliver their friends. Everyone but a few scoffers received salvation. How can this prophecy be true? No one lived up on that big mountain. The land was so rugged, not many animals could roam up there, much less people. But God had a plan. Not long afterward, a man named Marley Knott brought in his big draft horses and bucksaws and hewed out a road up through that mountain. He built his family a small cabin on the north side and they lived there until their deaths, but no revival. The prophecy had been talked about for years. People speculated much about it. Even called the old circuit rider a false prophet. But God knew better. Slowly, ever so slowly, people began to build small shacks up in the mountain to escape progress. They were set in their ways and would not conform to change. The road that Marley Knott hewed out provided a way to get up there, and that is just what they did. They loaded wagons, often having to set some of their possessions off and come back later for them. But they nevertheless trudged forward, and soon families dotted the mountain. Some couldn't cut the harsh winters and moved back down leaving but a remnant. Those who stayed battled the elements and often lacked food put down roots so far down in that mountain, they actually became part of the mountain, no less the rocky ground.

Book Among Herders of Inner Mongolia

Download or read book Among Herders of Inner Mongolia written by Christel Braae and published by Aarhus Universitetsforlag. This book was released on 2017-10-20 with total page 1000 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a study of a unique collection of Inner Mongolian artifacts at the National Museum of Denmark. They are described, analyzed and presented in a catalogue of more than 800 items, documenting the daily life of pastoral society in and around the tent, in the herding of the animals, in caravan trade and in hunting, crafts, sports and games, and in ritual life. Information about the objects was obtained during two expeditions to Inner Mongolia in the 1930s led by the Danish author Henning Haslund-Christensen, who had many years' experience of travel and expedition life in Mongolia. This is also a detailed account of the expeditions; of the routes, means and measures, as well as the worries and hopes of the participants; of their struggles with scientific aspirations; and of the conditions for collecting against the backdrop of the Chinese civil war and the Japanese occupation. The First and Second Danish Expeditions to Central Asia took place in 1936-1937 and 1938-1939 respectively. These expeditions were the sole foreign parties with access to the area at the time, and therefore their members were among the few observers of Inner Mongolian pastoral society at a time and place for which information was, and still is, scant and fragmented. Hence, the material objects and data obtained are of great scientific importance in the documentation of the life and material culture of Inner Mongolian herders in the 1930s - the main subject of the present book.

Book The Broadview Anthology of Restoration and Early Eighteenth Century Drama

Download or read book The Broadview Anthology of Restoration and Early Eighteenth Century Drama written by J. Douglas Canfield and published by Broadview Press. This book was released on 2001-05-31 with total page 2001 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first new full-scale anthology of Restoration and eighteenth-century drama in over sixty years. Concentrating on plays from the heyday of 1660-1737, it focuses especially on Restoration drama proper (1660-1688) and Revolution drama (1689-1714), with a smaller selection of plays from the early Georgian period (1715-1737) and a glimpse at the later Georgian period’s “laughing comedy” (1770s and 80s). It includes nine sub-genres (heroic romance, political tragedy, personal tragedy, tragicomic romance, social comedy, subversive comedy, corrective satire, menippean satire, and laughing comedy), with the preponderance of exposure given to the jewel of this theatre, its comedy. The core canonical plays from the era—from Dryden’s All for Love and Behn’s The Rover to Congreve’s The Way of the World and Sheridan’s School for Scandal—are all here, but so are a remarkably wide range of non-canonical works. There are many more plays by women than in any previous general anthology of drama of the period. Also included are a number of works from the neglected 1660s, whose comedies feature delightful, subversive, levelling folk elements. In all there are forty-one plays; each is fully annotated and prefaced with an historical introduction. Also included are a general introduction, head-notes for each genre, and a glossary.

Download or read book Hegel s God written by William Desmond and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-07-05 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hegel is widely regarded as one of the major thinkers of the modern era, if not the entire tradition of philosophy. Hegel, like many philosophers, took seriously traditional philosophical perplexities about God, but unlike many modern philosophers he claimed to take the specific characteristic of Christianity into account in his philosophizing. This book presents a new examination, interpretation and critical engagement with Hegel's philosophy of religion, and with his concept of God in particular. William Desmond explores the distinctive stresses of Hegel's approach to God, the influence it has exerted, and the fundamental problems that his approach exhibits.

Swaddled and screaming, we were spirited away by those who hid us, trained us, and kept us safe until our time came. They poured their lives into us. Some died to save us. And now we, the Remnants, protected by Knights of the Last Order, have gathered. Called until we breathe our last ... to save the world.

Book Being Human in a Consumer Society

Download or read book Being Human in a Consumer Society written by Alejandro Néstor García Martínez and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-04-15 with total page 223 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers a new perspective on sociological studies of the consumer society, introducing neglected normative questions relating to the good life and human flourishing - subjects more commonly discussed in fields of moral, political, and social philosophy. With attention to a wide range of subjects, including postemotional law and responsibility, dehumanised consumption and prosumerism, fashion, embodiment, conspicuous consumption, and sustainability, this book analyzes the structural and cultural transformations that can be identified in consumer society. It also offers a critical - but not pessimistic - view of the important question of whether consumption is leading to an increasing isolation, individualization or commodification of human beings, suggesting an analytical framework for understanding consumer culture and human praxis. Bringing together work from across disciplines by scholars in the US, Europe, and the UK to engage with questions concerning our globalized and globalizing world, where consumerism is a keystone for understanding our contemporary culture and its social structures, Being Human in a Consumer Society will appeal to scholars and students of sociology, social theory, and contemporary philosophy.

Book The Routledge Handbook of Far Right Extremism in Europe

Download or read book The Routledge Handbook of Far Right Extremism in Europe written by Katherine Kondor and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-09-12 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Routledge Handbook of Far-Right Extremism in Europe is a timely and important study of the far and extreme right-wing phenomenon across a broad spectrum of European countries, and in relation to a selected list of core areas and topics such as anti-gender, identitarian politics, hooliganism, and protest mobilisation. The handbook deals with the rise and the developments of far-right movements, parties, and organisations across diverse countries in Europe. Crucially, it discusses the main topics and issues pertaining to far-right ideology and positioning, and considers how central and less central actors of far-right milieus have fared within the given context. Comprising a wide range of subject expertise, the contributors focus on far-right organisations on the margins of the electoral sphere, as well as street-level movements, and the relationship between them and electoral politics. The handbook spans nearly twenty European country cases, grouped according to geographical/regional area. It includes case studies where the far right has gained increased momentum, as well as countries where it has been much less successful in mobilising public opinion and the electorate (e.g. Ireland and Portugal). Another important feature is the inclusion of street-level mobilisations, such as football firms, thereby expanding and updating existing research, which is primarily focused on political parties and organisations. Multidisciplinary and comprehensive, this handbook will be of great interest to scholars and students of Criminology, Political Science, Extremism Studies, European Studies, Media and Communication, and Sociology. This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No 101029801.

Book James Still

Download or read book James Still written by Carol Boggess and published by University Press of Kentucky. This book was released on 2017-10-27 with total page 533 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: James Still (1906–2001) first achieved national recognition in the 1930s as a poet, and he remains one of the most beloved and important writers in Appalachian literature. Though he is best known for the seminal novel River of Earth—which Time magazine called a "work of art" and which is often compared to John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath as a poignant literary exploration of the Great Depression—Still is also recognized as a significant writer of short fiction. His stories were frequently published in outlets such as the Atlantic and the Saturday Evening Post and won numerous awards, including the O. Henry Memorial Prize. In the definitive biography of the man known as the "dean of Appalachian literature," Carol Boggess offers a detailed portrait of Still. Despite his notable output and importance as a mentor to generations of young writers, Still was extremely private, preferring a quiet existence in a century-old log house between the waters of Wolfpen Creek and Dead Mare Branch in Knott County, Kentucky. Boggess, who befriended the author in the last decade of his life, draws on correspondence, journal entries, numerous interviews with Still and his family, and extensive archival research to illuminate his somewhat mysterious personal life. James Still: A Life explores every period of Still's life, from his childhood in Alabama, through the years he spent supporting himself in various odd jobs while trying to build his literary career, to the decades he spent fostering other talents. This long-overdue biography not only offers an important perspective on the author's work and art but also celebrates the legacy of a man who succeeded in becoming a legend in his own lifetime.
