Book Energy Efficiency and the Future of Real Estate

Download or read book Energy Efficiency and the Future of Real Estate written by N. Edward Coulson and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-08-01 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores how energy efficiency is a major component in the development of sustainable real estate. Efficiency is one of the most frequently-mentioned aspects of government policies for green building design in the United States and around the world. There has been a significant amount of effort devoted to the creation of green practices in real estate, including building construction, building assessment, city planning, investment, governmental regulation and policies, and industrial development. One of the key emphases of the above activities is energy efficiency, thus it is crucial for researchers and readers to have a comprehensive overview of the topic, as this book provides.

Book Evaluation of Future Strategic and Energy Efficient Options for the U S Capitol Power Plant

Download or read book Evaluation of Future Strategic and Energy Efficient Options for the U S Capitol Power Plant written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2009-09-12 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The U.S. Capitol Complex in Washington, D.C., comprises some of the most historic and symbolic buildings in the nation. The steam and chilled water required to heat and cool these buildings and related equipment is generated and distributed by the Capitol Power Plant (CPP) district energy system. Portions of the CPP system are now 50 to 100 years old and require renewal so that reliable utility services can be provided to the U.S. Capitol Complex for the foreseeable future. Evaluation of Future Strategic and Energy Efficient Options for the U.S. Capitol Power Plant provides comments on an interim set of publicly available consultant-generated options for the delivery of utility services to the U.S. Capitol Complex. The report provides recommendations to bring the interim options to completion, including suggestions for additional analyses, so that the CPP can be best positioned to meet the future strategic and energy efficiency requirements of the U.S. Capitol Complex.

Book Energy Optimization and Prediction in Office Buildings

Download or read book Energy Optimization and Prediction in Office Buildings written by Carlos Rubio-Bellido and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-04-20 with total page 89 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explains how energy demand and energy consumption in new buildings can be predicted and how these aspects and the resulting CO2 emissions can be reduced. It is based upon the authors’ extensive research into the design and energy optimization of office buildings in Chile. The authors first introduce a calculation procedure that can be used for the optimization of energy parameters in office buildings, and to predict how a changing climate may affect energy demand. The prediction of energy demand, consumption and CO2 emissions is demonstrated by solving simple equations using the example of Chilean buildings, and the findings are subsequently applied to buildings around the globe. An optimization process based on Artificial Neural Networks is discussed in detail, which predicts heating and cooling energy demands, energy consumption and CO2 emissions. Taken together, these processes will show readers how to reduce energy demand, consumption and CO2 emissions associated with office buildings in the future. Readers will gain an advanced understanding of energy use in buildings and how it can be reduced.

Book Environmental Design

Download or read book Environmental Design written by Randall Thomas and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2006 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written and edited by a team of specialists at Max Fordham LLP, one of the UK's leading environmental and building services engineering consultancies, Environmental Design is the result of their extensive experience in designing environmentally-friendly buildings. The principles of their approach, which they have taught in numerous schools of architecture and engineering, are clearly presented here. The book starts with some basic scientific principles and environmental issues and then moves on to site planning, energy use, materials and building form. Natural ventilation systems, high-efficiency mechanical equipment and alternative energy sources are also covered. State-of-the-art buildings of exceptional quality are incorporated throughout the text and illustrate the authors' belief that environmentally responsible architecture can be visually exciting. They conclude with a selection of detailed case studies of award-winning projects - including, new for this third edition, Beaufort Court, King's Langley and the National Trust Headquarters, Swindon. This book is essential reading for architects, engineers, planners and students of these disciplines.
