Book The End of the World Is Nigh

Download or read book The End of the World Is Nigh written by Tony Moyle and published by . This book was released on 2019-02-25 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Everyone's heard of Nostradamus. No one's heard of Philibert Montmorency. One was a legend. The other, not so much... A newly discovered Nostradamus prophecy has taken the internet by storm thanks to 'The Oblivion Doctrine', a group of online conspiracy theorists. Apparently the end is nigh. And in case anyone's interested, nigh is definitely a Tuesday. Doctor Ally Oldfield, Professor of Medieval Languages, is summoned to Lyon for a second opinion. She's not happy about it. But then again she's rarely happy about anything. She's got a coffee deficiency, a low tolerance towards almost everybody, and nothing good to say about Nostradamus whatsoever. And in her expert opinion, although the prophecy is over five hundred years old, it's definitely not by Nostradamus. So if he didn't write it, who did? Helped by Gabriel Janvier, the second-worst 'prepper'of all time, and Mr. Palomer, a mysterious old philanthropist, Oldfield must scour history to discover the truth before the prophecy comes true or The Oblivion Doctrine's fake news destroys civilisation anyway. In the search for truth, only history can save the future. The End of the World is Nigh is the first book in the Dr. Ally Oldfield series. If you love books about con-men, conspiracies, Renaissance history, massive agitated boar, exploding beds, marmalade and historical satire then this is the book for you. Ok you've never read a book like that before...here's your chance, get into the laughter today! From the Author of 'How to Survive the Afterlife' series. What reviewers have said about Tony's books: It draws you in and refuses to let you go until the very end. Think of the weirdest and most unlikely hero and multiply it by something. This is another joyous romp through the slightly crazy and extremely inventive mind of Tony Moyle. It's a great page turner and laugh out loud funny, highly recommended. A witty, laugh out loud series, strange and silly at times, and one of the best reads I've had in a while. As a life-long Terry Pratchett fan I have searched high and low for some-one else to read that would draw me into their world, leaving me excited and desperate for the next page in the journey. Tony Moyle's has given me hope. I couldn't put it down. I would recommend this book to all, young and old alike. It gets you thinking. Superb read, well worth the insanely small purchase price. It was ok!

Book The Rapture Exposed

    Book Details:
  • Author : Barbara R. Rossing
  • Publisher : Basic Books
  • Release : 2007-03-30
  • ISBN : 0465004962
  • Pages : 242 pages

Download or read book The Rapture Exposed written by Barbara R. Rossing and published by Basic Books. This book was released on 2007-03-30 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The idea of "The Rapture" -- the return of Christ to rescue and deliver Christians off the earth -- is an extremely popular interpretation of the Bible's Book of Revelation and a jumping-off point for the best-selling "Left Behind" series of books. This interpretation, based on a psychology of fear and destruction, guides the daily acts of thousands if not millions of people worldwide. In The Rapture Exposed, Barbara Rossing argues that this script for the world's future is nothing more than a disingenuous distortion of the Bible. The truth, Rossing argues, is that Revelation offers a vision of God's healing love for the world. The Rapture Exposed reclaims Christianity from fundamentalists' destructive reading of the biblical story and back into God's beloved community.

Book The Late Great Planet Earth

Download or read book The Late Great Planet Earth written by Hal Lindsey and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2016-10-11 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The impact of The Late Great Planet Earth cannot be overstated. The New York Times called it the "no. 1 non-fiction bestseller of the decade." For Christians and non-Christians of the 1970s, Hal Lindsey's blockbuster served as a wake-up call on events soon to come and events already unfolding -- all leading up to the greatest event of all: the return of Jesus Christ. The years since have confirmed Lindsey's insights into what biblical prophecy says about the times we live in. Whether you're a church-going believer or someone who wouldn't darken the door of a Christian institution, the Bible has much to tell you about the imminent future of this planet. In the midst of an out-of-control generation, it reveals a grand design that's unfolding exactly according to plan. The rebirth of Israel. The threat of war in the Middle East. An increase in natural catastrophes. The revival of Satanism and witchcraft. These and other signs, foreseen by prophets from Moses to Jesus, portend the coming of an antichrist . . . of a war which will bring humanity to the brink of destruction . . . and of incredible deliverance for a desperate, dying planet.

  • Pages : 561 pages

Download or read book The End Is Always Near written by Dan Carlin and published by HarperCollins. This book was released on 2019-10-29 with total page 561 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Now a New York Times Bestseller. The creator of the wildly popular award-winning podcast Hardcore History looks at some of the apocalyptic moments from the past as a way to frame the challenges of the future. Do tough times create tougher people? Can humanity handle the power of its weapons without destroying itself? Will human technology or capabilities ever peak or regress? No one knows the answers to such questions, but no one asks them in a more interesting way than Dan Carlin. In The End is Always Near, Dan Carlin looks at questions and historical events that force us to consider what sounds like fantasy; that we might suffer the same fate that all previous eras did. Will our world ever become a ruin for future archaeologists to dig up and explore? The questions themselves are both philosophical and like something out of The Twilight Zone. Combining his trademark mix of storytelling, history and weirdness Dan Carlin connects the past and future in fascinating and colorful ways. At the same time the questions he asks us to consider involve the most important issue imaginable: human survival. From the collapse of the Bronze Age to the challenges of the nuclear era the issue has hung over humanity like a persistent Sword of Damocles. Inspired by his podcast, The End is Always Near challenges the way we look at the past and ourselves. In this absorbing compendium, Carlin embarks on a whole new set of stories and major cliffhangers that will keep readers enthralled. Idiosyncratic and erudite, offbeat yet profound, The End is Always Near examines issues that are rarely presented, and makes the past immediately relevant to our very turbulent present.

Book Because the Time is Near

Download or read book Because the Time is Near written by John MacArthur and published by Moody Publishers. This book was released on 2007-03-01 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The end of the world is coming. From roadside signs to science fiction films, this slogan underscores our society’s nervous fascination with the future. Whether it’s a giant asteroid, a worldwide plague, or some other global catastrophe, the end of the world is a terrifying prospect—at least for those who have no idea what it will be like. For Christians, however, the end of the world should be anything but dreadful. In fact, it should be something we actually look forward to. Why? Because God has told us how the world will end. And He has assured us that the end of this age will mark the beginning of a new, glorious one in which we will serve and worship Him in sinless perfection. Our eternal hope, as believers, is intimately tied to the end of this world. All of this is laid out in the book of Revelation. Not only is Revelation the inspired Word of God, it is also the only New Testament book that includes a promised spiritual blessing for those who study and apply its message. As such, it is an essential part of every Christian’s devotional life. Those who ignore Revelation deprive themselves of a rich treasure of divine truth, and the promised blessings that come from understanding that truth. Join John MacArthur as he explains the book of Revelation in a way that is both doctrinally precise and intensely practical.

Book How to Fly a Horse

Download or read book How to Fly a Horse written by Kevin Ashton and published by Anchor. This book was released on 2015-01-20 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a technology pioneer at MIT and as the leader of three successful start-ups, Kevin Ashton experienced firsthand the all-consuming challenge of creating something new. Now, in a tour-de-force narrative twenty years in the making, Ashton leads us on a journey through humanity’s greatest creations to uncover the surprising truth behind who creates and how they do it. From the crystallographer’s laboratory where the secrets of DNA were first revealed by a long forgotten woman, to the electromagnetic chamber where the stealth bomber was born on a twenty-five-cent bet, to the Ohio bicycle shop where the Wright brothers set out to “fly a horse,” Ashton showcases the seemingly unremarkable individuals, gradual steps, multiple failures, and countless ordinary and usually uncredited acts that lead to our most astounding breakthroughs. Creators, he shows, apply in particular ways the everyday, ordinary thinking of which we are all capable, taking thousands of small steps and working in an endless loop of problem and solution. He examines why innovators meet resistance and how they overcome it, why most organizations stifle creative people, and how the most creative organizations work. Drawing on examples from art, science, business, and invention, from Mozart to the Muppets, Archimedes to Apple, Kandinsky to a can of Coke, How to Fly a Horse is a passionate and immensely rewarding exploration of how “new” comes to be.

  • Publisher : HarperChristian + ORM
  • Release : 2010-09-20
  • ISBN : 1418567175

Download or read book The Apocalypse Code written by Hank Hanegraaff and published by HarperChristian + ORM. This book was released on 2010-09-20 with total page 331 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hank Hanegraaff reveals the code to Revelation. Breaking the code of the book of Revelation has become an international obsession. The result, according to Hank Hanegraaff, has been rampant misreading of Scripture, bad theology, and even bad politics and foreign policy. Hanegraaff argues that the key to understanding the last book of the Bible is the other sixty-five books of the Bible — not current events or recent history and certainly not any complicated charts. The Apocalypse Code offers sane answers to some very controversial questions: What does it mean to take the book of Revelation (and the rest of the Bible) literally? Who are the “Antichrist” and the “Great Whore of Babylon,” and what is the real meaning of “666”? How does our view of the end times change the way we think about the crisis in the Middle East? Are two-thirds of all Jews really headed for an apocalyptic holocaust? The Apocalypse Code is a call to understand what the Bible really says about the end times and why how we understand it matters so much in today’s world. “Provocative and passionate, this fascinating book is a must-read for everyone who’s interested in end-times controversies.” — Lee Strobel, Author, The Case for the Real Jesus “ This book is a withering and unrelenting critique of the positions of apocalyptic enthusiasts — Tim LaHaye. Every fan of the Left Behind series should read this book. The fog will clear, and common sense will return to our reading of the Bible.” — Gary M. Burge, Professor of New Testament, Wheaton College and Graduate School.

Book The Earth Chain of Globes

Download or read book The Earth Chain of Globes written by William Quan Judge and published by Philaletheians UK. This book was released on with total page 17 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The companion globes of our Earth are not separate bodies, they interblend with each other. Though united by growth (co-adunition), they are not of the same dense substance (consubstantiality) as our Earth. They represent different states of consciousness. Life evolves along seven planetary bodies in seven rounds, from unconsciousness to full consciousness. Each body is the focus and locus of ascending states of monadic consciousness, from inorganic to organic. Neither Mars nor Mercury belong to the Earth-chain of globes. They are, along with the other planets, septenary units in the great host of “chains.” In our sevenfold constitution the body represents the Earth in her septenary chain, but we cannot see objectively any other of our principles, let alone the principles of other planetary bodies, unless they are on the same plane of development as our Earth is now. It is neither necessary nor allowed for us to know the relation between Mars, Mercury, and the Earth, nor to know whether Mars and Mercury are in any particular state.
