Book excerpt: Computational and Data-Driven Chemistry Using Artificial Intelligence: Volume 1: Fundamentals, Methods and Applications highlights fundamental knowledge and current developments in the field, giving readers insight into how these tools can be harnessed to enhance their own work. Offering the ability to process large or complex data-sets, compare molecular characteristics and behaviors, and help researchers design or identify new structures, Artificial Intelligence (AI) holds huge potential to revolutionize the future of chemistry. Volume 1 explores the fundamental knowledge and current methods being used to apply AI across a whole host of chemistry applications. Drawing on the knowledge of its expert team of global contributors, the book offers fascinating insight into this rapidly developing field and serves as a great resource for all those interested in exploring the opportunities afforded by the intersection of chemistry and AI in their own work. Part 1 provides foundational information on AI in chemistry, with an introduction to the field and guidance on database usage and statistical analysis to help support newcomers to the field. Part 2 then goes on to discuss approaches currently used to address problems in broad areas such as computational and theoretical chemistry; materials, synthetic and medicinal chemistry; crystallography, analytical chemistry, and spectroscopy. Finally, potential future trends in the field are discussed. - Provides an accessible introduction to the current state and future possibilities for AI in chemistry - Explores how computational chemistry methods and approaches can both enhance and be enhanced by AI - Highlights the interdisciplinary and broad applicability of AI tools across a wide range of chemistry fields
Download or read book Copper Bioinorganic Chemistry From Health To Bioinspired Catalysis written by Jalila Simaan and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2023-07-26 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bioinorganic chemistry is an interdisciplinary research field which centers on metals in biology. Over the past few decades, advances in chemistry, biology as well as in spectroscopic methods have shed light on the role of copper in human pathologies and allowed the growing discovery of copper-containing biological systems. Following this trend, much effort is being constantly chanelled towards understanding these fundamental biological processes or enzymes. In addition, chemists are developing molecules to target copper or copper enzymes as therapeutic tools. On the other hand, inspired by the function of biological systems, small molecular weight complexes inspired by the active site of copper enzymes are being prepared and studied. These bioinspired complexes can function both as mechanistic tools and as functional catalysts for oxidative transformations. The seven chapters in this book, contributed by internationally recognized authors cover recent developments on these aspects illustrated by interdisciplinary fields from biology, chemistry, spectroscopy to bioinspired catalysis. It contains aspects ranging from human health issues (copper homeostasis in bacteria and the development of molecules as anticancer or antibacterial agents) to bioinspired catalysis.

Download or read book The Liquid State and Its Electrical Properties written by E.E. Kunhardt and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 581 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the various disciplines of science advance, they proliferate and tend to become more esoteric. Barriers of specialized terminologies form, which cause scientists to lose contact with their colleagues, and differences in points-of-view emerge which hinder the unification of knowledge among the various disciplines, and even within a given discipline. As a result, the scientist, and especially the student, is in many instances offered fragmented glimpses of subjects that are funda mentally synthetic and that should be treated in their own right. Such seems to be the case of the liquid state. Unlike the other states of matter -- gases, solids, and plasmas -- the liquid state has not yet received unified treatment, probably because it has been the least explored and remains the least understood state of matter. Occasionally, events occur which help remove some of the barriers that separate scientists and disciplines alike. Such an event was the ASI on The Liquid State held this past July at the lovely Hotel Tivoli Sintra, in the picturesque town of Sintra, Portugal, approximately 30 km northwest of Lisbon. Since this broad a subject could not be covered in one Institute, the focus of the ASI was on a theme that provided a common thread of understanding for all in attendance -- the Electrical Proper ties of the Liquid State.
