Book Electric Arc Lamps

Download or read book Electric Arc Lamps written by J. Zeidler and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-06-25 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Electric Arc Lamps: Their Principles, Construction and Working The present volume is a study of arc lamps and their applications, and is intended to be useful to lighting engineers, students, and those engaged in the manufacture of the modern are lamp or interested in its application for artificial lighting. The original work, written by Mr. J. Zeidler and published in Germany, has in the present English edition been greatly enlarged and brought up to date, additions having especially been made to the chapter on Flame Arc Lamps. Examples of manufacture chosen for description are of recent English, German, and American practice, so that the book will also be useful for reference to those to whom a complete survey of the subject is of value. For the sake of the student, an introductory chapter on The Electric Arc has been added, dealing with the main principles of its production and its properties. In the chapter on Light Intensity and Illumination, some examples of exterior and interior lighting by arc lamps are discussed, and the method employed can be adopted to installations of similar or different character. The Standardization Rules of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers on Photometry and Lamps have been added as an Appendix. Book The Fundamentals and Applications of Light Emitting Diodes

Download or read book The Fundamentals and Applications of Light Emitting Diodes written by Govind B. Nair and published by Woodhead Publishing. This book was released on 2020-07-09 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Fundamentals and Applications of Light-Emitting Diodes: The Revolution in the Lighting Industry examines the evolution of LEDs, including a review of the luminescence process and background on solid state lighting. The book emphasizes phosphor-converted LEDs that are based on inorganic phosphors but explores different types of LEDs based on inorganic, organic, quantum dots, perovskite-structured materials, and biomaterials. A detailed description is included about the diverse applications of LEDs in fields such as lighting, displays, horticulture, biomedicine, and digital communication, as well as challenges that must be solved before using LEDs in commercial applications. Traditional light sources are fast being replaced by light-emitting diodes (LEDs). The fourth generation of lighting is completely dominated by LED luminaires. Apart from lighting, LEDs have extended their hold on other fields, such as digital communications, horticulture, medicine, space research, art and culture, display devices, and entertainment. The technological promises offered by LEDs have elevated them as front-runners in the lighting industry. - Presents a concise overview of different types of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) based on inorganic phosphors, organic materials, quantum dots, perovskite-structured materials, and biomaterials - Includes a discussion of current and emerging applications in lighting, communications, horticulture, and medical fields - Addresses fundamentals, luminescence mechanisms, and key optical materials, including synthesis methods

Book Electric Arc Phenomena

Download or read book Electric Arc Phenomena written by Ewald Rasch and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-06-16 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Electric Arc Phenomena A remarkable revolution is taking place in the fundamental conception of Physics. The Electronic Theory is furnishing wholly unexpected answers to the inquirer into the cause of light. This fact (in conjunction with other modern changes, such as improvements in incandescent lighting, etc.) imposes on the arc-lamp engineer the task of making improvements in the very principles of light production - a task which during the last decade has found, in the development of flame arc lamps, a provisional rather than a very desirable solution. One cannot be taught how to find - only how to seek. Whether we succeed or not depends largely on whether our aim has been in a negative or a positive direction with respect to the object. It is not within the scope of the present monograph to give an exhaustive review of the extensive literature which has accumulated on the subject of the electric arc and in which one is likely, quite often, to meet with contradictory statements.
