Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: School Social Work: An Evidence-Informed Framework for Practice offers school social work students and veteran practitioners a new framework for choosing their interventions based on the best available evidence. It is the first work that synthesizes the evidence-based practice (EBP) process with recent conceptual frameworks of school social work clinical practice offered by leading scholars and policymakers. Many other books on EBP try to fit empirically validated treatments into practice contexts without considering the multiple barriers to implementing evidence-based practices in places as complicated and multi-faceted as schools. Additionally, there are vital questions in the literature about what the best levels for intervention are in school social work. Responding to the complexity of applying EBP in schools, this volume offers a conceptual framework that addresses the real-world concerns of practitioners as they work to provide the best services to their school clients. For each domain of school social work practice, the authors critically review interventions, presenting the current research with guidelines for addressing such implementation issues as cost, school culture, adaptations for special populations, and negotiating multiple arenas of practice. In addition, the chapters are grounded in the process of evidence-based practice, illustrating how school practitioners can pose useful questions, search for relevant evidence, appraise the evidence, apply it in keeping with client values, and monitor the results.Written by four school social work scholars with over four decades of theoretical, research, and practice experience, this volume will be relevant to both research faculty studying school social work interventions and students learning about school social work practice.

Book Treatment Integrity in Positive Behavior Support Plans

Download or read book Treatment Integrity in Positive Behavior Support Plans written by Elizabeth Anne Tylor and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 83 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study examined the effects of adding a treatment integrity component to the Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSP) of several elementary and middle school students. Single-case design was used to measure student levels of behavior change and concurrent multiple baseline across subjects design was used to measure interventionists' adherence to the PBSP. During baseline, progress monitoring was conducted using the Treatment Integrity Checklist while the treatment condition consisted of an additional performance feedback component. The participants also completed a survey to measure social validity. Results showed significantly higher rates of student engagement in replacement behaviors and moderately lower rates of engagement in target behaviors across all participants during the treatment phase. The intervention also resulted in significantly higher adherence to PBSPs across all participants. A functional relationship between high levels of treatment integrity and positive changes in student behavior levels was also demonstrated. Results of the social validity survey indicated that the intervention was useful, valuable, and successful in measuring and increasing treatment integrity.

Book Treatment Integrity in Treatment Outcome Research

Download or read book Treatment Integrity in Treatment Outcome Research written by Perepletchikova and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2009-08 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Treatment integrity refers to the degree to which an intervention is implemented as intended. This book examines the adequacy of treatment integrity procedures in randomized controlled trials of psychosocial interventions and evaluates the associated factors. Results indicate that investigations that systematically implement treatment integrity procedures are virtually lacking in the literature. Skill-building treatments (e.g., cognitive-behavioral) as compared to non skill-building interventions (e.g., psychodynamic) were implemented with higher attention to integrity. Treatment integrity was addressed to a greater degree when interventions were evaluated using a treatment manual. Implications of the obtained results for psychotherapy research and practice, recommendations for improving how integrity is addressed, as well as guidelines on treatment integrity procedures are discussed. Further, this book includes a measure for assessing the adequacy of treatment integrity procedures and a rater manual.

Book Assessing the Effectiveness of Varying Treatment Integrity Levels on Child Compliance with a Three step Guided Compliance Package

Download or read book Assessing the Effectiveness of Varying Treatment Integrity Levels on Child Compliance with a Three step Guided Compliance Package written by Milayla K. Sahm (|e author) and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Compliance is an important school-readiness skill. Three-step guided compliance has been found to be effective when the procedure is implemented with high integrity. There are concerns with treatment integrity in applied settings. Treatment integrity is important to consider when intervening to increase child compliance in applied settings because low levels of integrity may result in poorer treatment outcomes. Participants displayed similar levels of compliance across varying integrity levels. Children may comply at moderate to high levels with instructions when the procedure is implemented at least 50% of the time.

Book Transporting an Evidence based Behavioral Intervention to Practice

Download or read book Transporting an Evidence based Behavioral Intervention to Practice written by and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The transportability of an evidence-based, behavioral intervention, the Good Behavior Game (GBG), was evaluated. This study compared the impact of two training methods: (a)Direct consultation and professional learning community on treatment integrity, (b) reduction in students' disruptive behavior, acceptability, and (c) contextual barriers of sustaining EBIs in practice settings. Sixteen teachers were recruited from the Sanger Unified School District in Central California and were randomly assigned by a masked analyst to a Direct Consultation or Professional Learning Community condition in a non-response guided multiple-baseline design. A total of 143 students and nine masters-level school psychologists also participated. Large positive intervention effects were observed. Statistical analysis of the between-group differences in treatment integrity, and acceptability yielded largely equivalent ratings. Findings related to contextual variables (e.g., time, cost, institutional support, adaptability) have implications for future research and adoption of the GBG.

Book TIP 35 Enhancing Motivation for Change in Substance Use Disorder Treatment Updated 2019

Download or read book TIP 35 Enhancing Motivation for Change in Substance Use Disorder Treatment Updated 2019 written by U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2019-11-19 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Motivation is key to substance use behavior change. Counselors can support clients' movement toward positive changes in their substance use by identifying and enhancing motivation that already exists. Motivational approaches are based on the principles of person-centered counseling. Counselors' use of empathy, not authority and power, is key to enhancing clients' motivation to change. Clients are experts in their own recovery from SUDs. Counselors should engage them in collaborative partnerships. Ambivalence about change is normal. Resistance to change is an expression of ambivalence about change, not a client trait or characteristic. Confrontational approaches increase client resistance and discord in the counseling relationship. Motivational approaches explore ambivalence in a nonjudgmental and compassionate way.

Book A Descriptive Assessment and Meta Analysis of The Good Behavior Game as a Behavior Change Procedure in Schools

Download or read book A Descriptive Assessment and Meta Analysis of The Good Behavior Game as a Behavior Change Procedure in Schools written by Alysha J. Turner and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The school to prison pipeline (STPP) is a nationwide trend in which students are being removed from the public-school system that leads to the path towards the juvenile and criminal justice system. One of the causes as to why this pipeline has become a trend is disruptive behavior in the classroom being labeled as a severe problem. The Good Behavior Game (GBG) has been shown to be an effective behavioral intervention to address a variety of disruptive behaviors. Although there has been much literature on the GBG, most recent meta-analytic and descriptive reviews have not sufficiently quantified the effects across several variables or influences. The current review analyzed peer-reviewed articles on the GBG across 15 studies, representing 893 students from pre-school through high school. Data from these studies were examined by calculating the mean baseline difference (MBL) and analyzing the effects with respects to education level, settings, and disabilities. Results revealed that the majority of articles resulted in effect sizes ranging from 96% to 70% on decreasing disruptive behaviors in the classroom.
