Book The Effects of Energy Drinks on Division 1 Soccer Midfielders

Download or read book The Effects of Energy Drinks on Division 1 Soccer Midfielders written by Jordan D. Vitale and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Caffeine is a popular ergogenic aid that is commonly used in young athletes to improve performance. Energy drinks are just one of the many ways to consume caffeine. There have been mixed results about whether or not caffeine actually improves different types of exercise performance. The studies that do exist focus primarily on the effects that caffeine has on males. There is very little research on the effects of caffeine on females, especially during anaerobic exercise. The purpose of this study is to expand the known effects that energy drinks have on anaerobic exercise performance and explore a new population of female soccer midfielders through the use of a Wingate test. A total of 10 participants were chosen from a division I collegiate women’s soccer team and were asked to volunteer in the study. Each participant was informed of testing protocol and expectations before agreeing to participate and signing a consent form. Peak power and rate of fatigue was the main focus of the study. All of the data was analyzed through the use of an independent t-test to discover the relationship between energy drink consumption and peak power, and energy drink consumption and rate of fatigue. It is hypothesized that the consumption of an energy drink prior to a Wingate anaerobic test would result in overall better anaerobic performance, specifically with increased power and a lower fatigue index.

Book Acute Effects of AdvoCare Spark Energy Drink on Repeated Sprint Performance and Anaerobic Power in NCAA Division I Football Players

Download or read book Acute Effects of AdvoCare Spark Energy Drink on Repeated Sprint Performance and Anaerobic Power in NCAA Division I Football Players written by Nnamdi Ifekandu Gwacham and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 70 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Consumption of supplements and energy drinks is common among athletes; however, there is a lack of research on the efficacy of energy drink consumption before and during short-duration, intense exercise. The purpose of this research was to investigate the acute effects of a low-calorie, caffeine-taurine, energy drink (AdvoCare Spark®) on repeated sprint performance and anaerobic power in National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I football players. Twenty well-trained Division I football players (age: 19.7 [plus or minus] 1.8 years, height: 184.9 [plus or minus] 5.3 cm, weight: 100.3 [plus or minus] 21.7 kg) participated in a double-blind, randomized crossover study in which they received the energy drink or an isoenergetic, isovolumetric, noncaffeinated placebo. The two trials were separated by 7 days. The Running Based Anaerobic Sprint Test (RAST), consisting of six 35-m sprints with 10 s of rest between each sprint, was used to assess anaerobic power. Sprint times were recorded with an automatic electronic timer. On average, there was no statistically significant difference between the placebo (15.06 [plus or minus] 3.80 W·s-1) and beverage (15.3 [plus or minus] 4.18 W·s-1) measurements of fatigue index. Neither were there statistically significant main effects of the beverage treatment on power F(1, 18) = 3.84, p = 0.066; or sprint time F(1, 18) = 3.06, p = 0.097. However, there was a significant interaction effect between caffeine use and the beverage for sprint times (F = 4.62, p = 0.045), as well as for anaerobic power (F = 5.40, p = 0.032), indicating a confounding effect. In conclusion, a caffeine-taurine energy drink did not improve the sprint performance or the anaerobic power of collegiate football players, but the level of caffeine use by the athletes likely influenced the effect of the drink.

Book Analyse der Studie von Lara et al Caffeine containing energy drink improves physical performance in female soccer players

Download or read book Analyse der Studie von Lara et al Caffeine containing energy drink improves physical performance in female soccer players written by Raphael Städtler and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2023-01-23 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

This book was released on 2013 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Purpose: This study is presented as an effort to provide more information on the effects of energy drinks (ED) on intermittent exercise, and add to the published research in Caffeine (CAF) combined with Carbohydrate (CHO) as an ergogenic aid compared to CAF alone. Methods: In three trials, each separated by seven days, seven healthy male and seven healthy female collegiate soccer players randomly ingested an ED, a sugar-free ED, or a placebo beverage 40 minutes before performing a Loughborough Intermittent Shuttle Test (LIST). Rate of perceived exertion (RPE) and heart rate (HR) were measured through the LIST. Results: There were significant differences in weight, height, estimated VO, and daily CAFintake between males and females. TTE during was 16.18 plus or minus 8.26, 17.71 plus or minus 11.64, and 12.43 plus or minus 5.99 for the ED, sugar-free ED, and placebo respectively. No significant differences were found between the trials after an ANCOVA with CAF intake, gender, and weight as covariates. There were no significant differences between RPE scores for the ED, sugar-free ED, and placebo trials. An ANCOVA with CAF intake, gender, and weight as covariates did no result in significant differences. A significant correlation between RPE and HR was found throughout the trials. Conclusions: These results demonstrate no significant improvements in collegiate soccer players for performance of extended duration intermittent exercise or RPE after ingesting an ED or sugar-free ED when compared with a placebo.

Sport climbing is divided in three disciplines (bouldering, lead climbing, speed climbing) that requires different physiological and psychological abilities witch again lead to different mechanical loading and thereby possible injuries. Furthermore, climbing is practiced by a diversified population from the recreational climber to the professional athlete.
