Download or read book Quantification of Delay and Disruption in Construction and Engineering Projects written by Robert Gemmell and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page 838 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Delay and disruption often impacts entire projects and is prevalent throughout the entire construction and engineering industries - no project or construction professional is immune to the effects. This book is aimed at any construction professional anywhere in the world who is involved in preparing, assessing, managing and/or deciding issues concerning the assessment of additional time to complete the work, and also additional payment for delay and/or disruption to the progress of a construction or engineering project. Delay and disruption is endemic in the construction industry and leads to time and cost overruns. It is therefore essential that delays and/or disruptions are identified early so that corrective action can be taken. However, when delay and/or disruption actually occurs, the issue of quantifying the period of any delay, the effects of disruption, and the quantification of the resulting loss during, and especially at the end, of a project is complicated.

Download or read book Delay Analysis in Construction Contracts written by P. John Keane and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2015-06-29 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The most significant unanticipated costs on many construction projects are the financial impacts associated with delay and disruption to the works. Assessing these, and establishing a causal link from each delay event to its effect, contractual liability and the damages experienced as a direct result of each event, can be difficult and complex. This book is a practical guide to the process of delay analysis and includes an in-depth review of the primary methods of delay analysis, together with the assumptions that underlie the precise calculations required in any quantitative delay analysis. The techniques discussed can be used on projects of any size, under all forms of construction contract, both domestic and international. The authors discuss not only delay analysis techniques, but also their appropriateness under given circumstances, demonstrating how combined approaches may be applied where necessary. They also consider problematic issues including ‘who owns the float’, concurrent delay, early completion programmes, and disruption. The book has been brought fully up to date, including references to the latest publications from the CIOB, AACEI and SCL, as well as current case law. Broad in scope, the book discusses the different delay analysis approaches likely to be encountered on national and international projects, and features practical worked examples and case studies demonstrating the techniques commonly used by experienced practitioners. This is an invaluable resource to programmers and schedulers, delay analysts, contractors, architects, engineers and surveyors. It will also be of interest to clients’ professional advisors managing extension of time or delay claims, as well as construction lawyers who require a better understanding of the underlying assumptions on which many quantitative delay analyses are based. Reviews of First Edition "John Keane and Anthony Caletka are pukka analysts in that tricky area of delays, programming and extension of time. I highly recommend their book Delay Analysis in Construction Contracts. Buy the book." (Building Magazine, February 2009) "The book′s stated purpose is to provide a practical guide for those interested in schedule delay analysis. It provides a good in–depth review of the most common delay analysis techniques.... An excellent book, full of practical tips for the reader and very timely in its publication. It is well worth the cost and a good read for anyone involved in schedule delay analysis." (Cost Engineering, February 2009) It achieves in spades its stated aim of being a practical guide for contractors, contract administrators, programmers and delay analysts, as well as construction lawyers who require a better understanding of the underlying assumptions on which many quantitative delay analyses are based. This book was released on with total page 914 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Federal Relations Authority (FLRA) is an independent administrative federal agency created by Title VII of the Civil Service Reform Act of 1978 (also known as the Federal Service Labor-Management Relations Statute) (the Statute). Pub. L. 95-454, 5 U.S.C. §7101 et seq. The Statute allows certain non-postal federal employees to organize, bargain collectively, and participate through labor organizations of their choice in decisions affecting their working lives. The Postal Reorganization Act (Pub. L. 91-375, Aug. 12, 1970) governs labor-management relations in the Postal Service. The Authority is a quasi-judicial body with three full-time Members who are appointed for five-year terms by the President with the advice and consent of the Senate. One Member is appointed by the President to serve as Chairman of the Authority and as the Chief Executive and Administrative Officer of the FLRA. The Chairman also chairs the Foreign Service Labor Relations Board. The Authority adjudicates unfair labor practices disputes, issues raised by representation petitions, exceptions to grievance arbitration awards, and resolves negotiability disputesraised by the parties during collective bargaining. Consistent with its statutory charge to provide leadership in establishing policies and guidance to participants in the Federal labor-management relations program, the Authority also assists Federal agencies and unions in understanding their rights and responsibilities under the Statute through statutory training of parties. Publishing decisions in bound volumes is yet another way in which the FLRA makes Authority case law available to its customers. Authority decisions, decisions of the Federal Service Impasses Panel, and decisions of the Office of Administrative Law Judges are also available – and searchable – soon after issuance on the FLRA’s decisions page at: www.flra.gov/decisions. As the FLRA’s website provides current, up-to-date access to decisions, and the FLRA continues to publish decisions in bound volumes, it no longer issues Reports of Case Decisions.
