Specifically, the following problems were investigated: 1. The effect of selected dynamic exercises upon the performance of the vertical jump. 2. The effect of selected isometric exercises upon the performance of the vertical jump. 3. The effect of skipping rope and jumping upon the performance of the vertical jump. 4. The effect of the selected treatments both within each group and between the groups.

Book A Comparison of the Effects of Rope Skipping and Jogging on Cardiovascular Fitness

Download or read book A Comparison of the Effects of Rope Skipping and Jogging on Cardiovascular Fitness written by Karst W. Brandsma and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The purpose of this study was to compare rope skipping and jogging and their effects on cardiovascular fitness as measured by a treadmill test. Balke's Treadmill Test was used with the reserve area calculated from the data received. A secondary purpose was to find a reliability coefficient of the Balke Treadmill Test using the reserve area. Three groups were used in this study. Group I was the rope skipping group and skipped rope for ten minutes during their training sessions. Group II was the jogging group and they jogged for 30 minutes during their training sessions. Group III was the control group. Group I and II were equated. A pre-test was given to all subjects before the training pro- grams and a post-test was administered after the training programs. A t test was used to test the four null hypotheses. The .05 level of significance was used to reject the hypotheses. The following conclusions were drawn from this study. Both jogging and rope skipping programs significantly increase cardiovascular fitness. There was no statistical difference of cardiovascular fitness improvement between the rope skipping and jogging programs. The control group did not improve significantly from pre-test to post-test. A reliability coefficient of .81 was found to exist"--Document.
