Book The Effect of Economic Changes on Consumer Behavior

Download or read book The Effect of Economic Changes on Consumer Behavior written by Dila Baydar and published by . This book was released on 2023 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With this study, we aim to analyze how economic changes affect consumer buying habits. Essentially this study focuses on consumer behavior. For instance, how do households determine their choices in times of crisis? In which situations they are willing to save? Could they change their primary needs in any given situation? In order to evaluate the answers to these questions, it is necessary to understand the social structures of the countries and to review the choices of the households. Economics is strongly related to other majorities. In order to understand economics correctly and deeply we have to analyze other social and rational sciences. Behavioral economics investigates social formations. In this study, we used behavioral economics as a tool to understand the analyzes we made on consumer behavior. Behavioral economics is the combination of economics and other social sciences. When it is combined with researches in this paper, it should help to understand if empirical analysis we made support the assumptions on consumer behavior. Considering this, many data such as distribution of income percentage received from the World Data and OECD Statistics by years in different countries, the distribution of savings, and the types of products consumed by people were analyzed econometrically by looking at the consumer price index. When evaluating the cross-sectional data, we will use different methods. For instance, regression and correlation between the variables, how does it affect consumer behavior to consumer behavior. During the analyzing process we use Eviews and Stata tools, we will obtain a lot of graphs e.g. histograms, line charts and after that we will compare the graphs. At the end of this study, we expect that there is a strong relationship between consumer behaviors and the events which occur different time periods.

Book Impact of Covid 19 on German Consumer Behavior Elaboration Regarding a Sustained Change of Online Shopping

Download or read book Impact of Covid 19 on German Consumer Behavior Elaboration Regarding a Sustained Change of Online Shopping written by Michel Brandes and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2021-10-11 with total page 73 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Master's Thesis from the year 2021 in the subject Business economics - Offline Marketing and Online Marketing, Hamburg School of Business Administration gGmbH, language: English, abstract: The goal of this study was to elaborate the differences between COVID-19 induced and a potentially restriction free consumer behavior in 2024 regarding a sustained change of online shopping and the usage of digital services. Two different scenarios were developed (I) asking participants about their behavior during the COVID-19 pandemic and (II) asking participants about their behavior in a pandemic and restriction free environment in 2024. In order to elaborate potential effects, a research model was derived based on a conceptual framework investigating the long-term adherence of behavioral changes combined with item relationships regarding the sustained usage of services. The data was derived through online questionnaires. Afterwards, the conducted data was operationalized and elaborated through multiple (M)ANOVA. The key findings were that the satisfaction levels for both online shopping as well as for the digital services significantly decreased in scenario II. According to the research model this allows the conclusion that a sustained usage is negatively affected. Therefore, the observed acceleration of online shopping could potentially slow down and return to average growth levels. The reduction of satisfaction levels was supported by a correlation reduction of the frequency of use and money spent items which confirmed the reduction of online shopping as well as the usage of digital services. For the retail and e-commerce industry the findings allow strategic implications to prepare for the post pandemic consumer behavior. Consumers will potentially carry their positive experiences with them and translate those into future expectations towards retail and e-commerce. To mention are that due to the decreased satisfaction levels the traditional stationary retail store remains relevant and therefore should be strategically emphasized within retailer’s channel strategy.

Book Living Economy Influences Social Consumption Behavior

Download or read book Living Economy Influences Social Consumption Behavior written by Johnny Ch LOK and published by . This book was released on 2019-12-12 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In general, consumer behavioral research economists have improved the research task of analysing and predicting economic change how it can influence consumer behavior. A great deal of economic work has been devoted to building and testing models, that is systems of relationships designed to how the interdependent variation of a set of variable, and with estimating the constants in these consumer behavioral influence models. Moreover, a system of equations in which the values of some variables appear for consecutive time periods can be used for any countries' consumer behavioral changing prediction purposes , but the predictions which can be express the way in which the system would vary through time if it were allowed to run undistributed. The aspect of the research consumer behavioral changing matter is now recognized and specifies the assumed properties , since they have importance bearing not only in prediction, but also on the estimation, e.g. how and why and when the country's consumer purchase habit will sudden change. Hence, the consumer behavioral research economists' role is to provide the country's market information about the systematic factors at work , so that the variable element of guess-work is reduced as far as possible. All practical economists who are not econometricians will readily assent to this statement as it relates to identities or definitions. No one in his senses will be content with predictions: what the most minimum of income level influences consumer individual shopping desire reduces, what the most minimum of savings level influences general consumers' shopping desires reduce etc. which do not satisfy the usual accounting identifies.Economics is the science which indicates human ( consumer) role is as a relationship between ( achieving sale effect ) and consumers feel scarce to buy the product ( psychological response), because general consumers feel scarce or shortage supplying to the product in themselves country market. They will choose to attempt to visit any shops to buy the product immediately. So, scarce or shortage supplying factor may be one important factor to influence general consumers expect to buy the kind of product immediately if they feel the brand of product is shortage to sell to them in any shops in the country. It may be more important to compare cheaper price factor, inflation factor, the shop's geographical location far away to the consumer individual home factor, savings or investment etc. different factors to influence the country's consumers purchase desires to be raised up or fallen down.

Book Consumer Demand in the United States

Download or read book Consumer Demand in the United States written by Lester D. Taylor and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-11-25 with total page 530 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A classic treatise that defined the field of applied demand analysis, Consumer Demand in the United States: Prices, Income, and Consumption Behavior is now fully updated and expanded for a new generation. Consumption expenditures by households in the United States account for about 70% of America’s GDP. The primary focus in this book is on how households adjust these expenditures in response to changes in price and income. Econometric estimates of price and income elasticities are obtained for an exhaustive array of goods and services using data from surveys conducted by the Bureau of Labor Statistics and aggregate consumption expenditures from the National Income and Product Accounts, providing a better understanding of consumer demand. Practical models for forecasting future price and income elasticities are also demonstrated. Fully revised with over a dozen new chapters and appendices, the book revisits the original Houthakker-Taylor models while examining new material as well, such as the use of quantile regression and the stationarity of consumer preference. It also explores the emerging connection between neuroscience and consumer behavior, integrating the economic literature on demand theory with psychology literature. The most comprehensive treatment of the topic to date, this volume will be an essential resource for any researcher, student or professional economist working on consumer behavior or demand theory, as well as investors and policymakers concerned with the impact of economic fluctuations.

Book Economic News Sentiment and Behavior

Download or read book Economic News Sentiment and Behavior written by Juliane A. Lischka and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-11-04 with total page 139 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the relations between objective, media-related, and social attitudinal as well as behavioral realities of private, expert, and corporate agents in the traditions of mass communication, journalism studies and behavioral economics. Results based on time series analyses for German data show that the news reports in a volatile manner on the economy and may influence its development through third-person effects. Bad economic news does not cause a decrease in private purchase intentions. Bad news may lead to a change in corporate decisions, such as advertising expenditures, because corporate decision makers may presume changes in consumer behavior through news.

Book Time Factor Influences Consumer Behavior

Download or read book Time Factor Influences Consumer Behavior written by Johnny Ch Lok and published by . This book was released on 2019-07-30 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We have four main factors that affect consumer behaviour they are;1.Consumer Behaviour - Cultural factors .Culture plays a very vital role in the determining consumer behaviour it is sub divided in.‧Culture is a very complex belief of human behaviour it includes the human society, the roles that the society plays, the behaviour of the society, its values customs and traditions. Culture needs to be examined as it is a very important factor that influences consumer behaviour.‧Sub-CultureSub-culture is the group of people who share the same values, customs and traditions. You can define them as the nation, the religion, racial groups and also groups of people sharing the same geographic location‧Social Class Society possesses social class; in fact every society possesses one. It is important to know what social class is being targeted as normally the buying behaviour of a social class is quite similar. Remember not just the income but even other factors describe social class of a group of consumers.2.Consumer Behaviour - Social Factors Social factors are also subdivided into the following‧Reference groupsUnder social factors reference groups have a great potential of influencing consumer behaviour. Of course its impact varies across products and brands. This group often includes an opinion leader.‧Family The behaviour of a consumer is not only influenced by their motivations and personalities but also their families and family members who can two or more people living together either because of blood relationship or marriage.‧Role and status People who belong to different organizations, groups or club members, families play roles and have a status to maintain. These roles and status that they have to maintain also influences consumer behaviour as they decide to spend accordingly.3.Consumer Behaviour - Personal factors A number of personal factors also influence the consumer behaviour. In fact this is one major factor that influences consumer behaviour. The sub factors under personal factor are listed below.‧Age and life cycle stageAge of a consumer and his life cycle are two most important sub factors under personal factors. With the age and the life cycle the consumers purchase options and the motive of purchase changes, with his decisions of buying products change. Hence this stage does affect consumer behaviour.‧OccupationOccupation of a consumer is affects the goods and services a consumer buys. The occupations group has above average interest in buying different products and services offered by organizations. In fact organizations produce separate products for different occupational groups.‧Financial or economic situations Everything can be bought and sold with the help of money. If the economic situation of a consumer is not good or stable it will affect his purchase power, in fact if the consumers or the economy of a nation is suffering a loss it defiantly affects the consumers purchase or spending decisions.‧Life stylePeople originating from different cultures, sub cultures, occupations and even social class have different styles of living. Life style can confirm the interest, opinions and activities of people. Different life styles affect the purchase pattern of consumers.

Book The Economics of Consumption

Download or read book The Economics of Consumption written by Tullio Jappelli and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2017-09-01 with total page 313 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Consumption decisions are crucial determinants of business cycles and growth. Knowledge of how consumers respond to the economic environment and how they react to the risks that they encounter during the life-cycle is therefore important for evaluating stabilization policies and the effectiveness of fiscal packages implemented in response to economic downturns or financial crises. In The Economics of Consumption, Tullio Jappelli and Luigi Pistaferri provide a comprehensive examination of the most important developments in the field of consumption decisions and evaluate economic models against empirical evidence. The first part of the book provides the basic ingredients of economic models of consumption decisions. The central part reviews the empirical literature on the effect of income and wealth changes on consumption and on the relevance of precautionary saving and credit market imperfections. The last chapters extend the basic framework to such important areas as bequests, leisure, lifetime uncertainty, and financial sophistication. Jappelli and Pistaferri shed light on important issues, including how consumption responds to changes in economic resources, how economic circumstances and consumers' characteristics influence behavior, and whether consumption inequality depends on income shocks and their persistence.

Book The Joyless Economy

Download or read book The Joyless Economy written by Tibor Scitovsky and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 1992 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Annotation When this classic work was first published in 1976, its central tenet--more is not necessarily better--placed it in direct conflict with mainstream thought in economics. Within a few years, however, this apparently paradoxical claim was gaining wide acceptance. Scitovsky's ground-breaking book was the first to apply theories of behaviorist psychology to questions of consumer behavior and to do so in clear, non-technical language. Setting out to analyze the failures of our consumerist lifestyle, Scitovsky concluded that people's need for stimulation is so vital that it can lead to violence if not satisfied by novelty--whether in challenging work, art, fashion, gadgets, late-model cars, or scandal. Though much of the book stands as a record of American post-war prosperity and its accompanying problems, the revised edition also takes into account recent social and economic changes. A new preface and a foreword by economist Robert Frank introduce some of the issues created by those changes and two revised chapters develop them, discussing among others the assimilation of counter-cultural ideas throughout American society, especially ideas concerning quality of life. Scitovsky draws fascinating connections between the new elite of college-educated consumers and the emergence of a growing underclass plagued by drugs and violence, perceptively tracing the reactions of these disparate groups to the problems of leisure and boredom. In the wake of the so-called "decade of greed" and amidst calls for a "kindler, gentler" society, The Joyless Economy seems more timely than ever.
