Download or read book The Acute Effects of an Ascending Intensity Eccentric Safety Bar Squat Protocol on Vertical Jump Performance in Trained Male Students written by Bolu Xu and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ABSTRACT: The present study was designed to investigate the acute effects of an ascending intensity eccentric Safety Squat Bar (SSB) squat protocol on vertical jump performance. After the maximal strength test by using SSB, twenty trained male students were recruited for two experimental sessions: squat condition (SC) and control condition (CC). In SC, an ascending intensity squat protocol, which combined 40% 1 RM, 60% 1 RM, 80% 1 RM, 100% 1 RM, 120% 1 RM separated eccentric SSB squat, was performed with a three-minute rest interval after warm-up. The vertical jump height was measured at the baseline, after warm-up, and after each SSB eccentric squat. In CC, subjects were asked to seat after warm-up. The vertical jump height was measured at the same time point as SC. A significant difference of vertical jump height was observed after 60% 1 RM eccentric SSB squat (p = .031), after 80% 1 RM eccentric SSB squat (p

Book The Acute Effects of Two Squat Protocols on Post Activation Potentiation and Vertical Jump

Download or read book The Acute Effects of Two Squat Protocols on Post Activation Potentiation and Vertical Jump written by Stefan W. Pietrobono and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ABSTRACT: The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of two different squat protocols on post-activation potentiation and VJ. Fifteen resistance trained men were tested on three different occasions, the first which was used to assess 3-RM front squat using the APRE protocol and extrapolating a 1-RM during the last set. The subject then scheduled two testing days which were separated by one week. The first squat protocol was a single repetition of a six second supra maximal eccentric-only front squat to parallel at 110% of 1-RM. The second squat protocol was three full repetitions to parallel at a load equivalent to 3-RM. The warm-up was kept the same for both days of protocol testing, with the establishment of baseline VJ height occurring after the warm-up and before the squat stimulus. VJ height was re-assessed immediately, 2, 4, 6, and 8 min post squat stimulus. VJ scores were not significantly different between the two protocols at baseline, however at each time interval post-stimulus(immediately, 2min, 4min, 6min, and 8min) the supra maximal protocol was shown to elicit a significant (p

Book Acute Effects of Antagonist Static Stretching on Vertical Jump Performance

Download or read book Acute Effects of Antagonist Static Stretching on Vertical Jump Performance written by Patrick W. Davidson and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: The purpose of the current study was to examine the acute effects of antagonist static stretching on vertical jump performance. Resistance trained males (N 31) participated in the study. Each subject performed four trials during each of static squat and countermovement (CMJ) vertical jumps during each session in this repeated measures design. Subjects jumped before treatment, immediately after treatment, at 5 mm post-treatment, and at 15 mm post- treatment. Subjects performed two sessions of testing, one featuring a static stretching treatment where the antagonist muscles for the vertical jump were stretched, the other a control. A significant (p .05) main effect was found for time, where all vertical jumps performed immediately after treatment and at 15 mm post-treatment were significantly (p

Book EFFECTS OF DEPTH JUMPS AND HANG POWER CLEANS ON VERTICAL JUMP PERFORMANCE

Download or read book EFFECTS OF DEPTH JUMPS AND HANG POWER CLEANS ON VERTICAL JUMP PERFORMANCE written by Renee E. Zernicke and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ABSTRACT:The purpose of this investigation was to examine the effects of a depth jump training program versus a hang power clean training program on performance variables such as countermovement vertical jump (CMVJ) and squat jump (SJ) over 6 weeks. Division III female volleyball players (N = 14) completed the pre- and post-testing sessions along with 12 training sessions. The pre-test session was comprised of two trials of a CMVJ and two trials of a SJ. Following the CMVJ and SJ trials, the hang power clean group performed a I-repetition maximum (I-RM) in the hang power clean, while optimal box height was assessed for the depth jump group. The post-test session was comprised of two trials of the CMVJ and SJ. Two 2 x 2 mixed factorial ANOVAs were calculated to analyze the differences between the depth jump training group and hang power clean training group from pre-test to post-test. No significant (p =.26) mean difference was found in the CMVJ between groups. No significant (p =.13) mean difference was found in the SJ between groups. The depth jump training group and hang power clean group both significantly (p =.00) increased in the CMVJ and SJ from pre- to post-test.

Book The Acute Effects of Power Cleans and Squat Cleans on Postactivation Potentiation of 40 Meter Sprint and Vertical Jump Performance

Download or read book The Acute Effects of Power Cleans and Squat Cleans on Postactivation Potentiation of 40 Meter Sprint and Vertical Jump Performance written by Lauren J. Stobbie and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: The purpose of the investigation was to examine the effects of postactivation potentiation (PAP) elicited from a power clean versus a squat clean on performance measures such as the countermovement vertical jump and 40 meter sprint. College-aged males (N = 9) completed all baseline measurements and testing protocols. Each subject completed a baseline testing session comprised of a lRM power clean, countermovement vertical jump, and 40 meter sprint. Subjects then participated in four additional PAP testing sessions, each separated by one week. Two one-way repeated measures ANOVAs were computed to determine if significant changes occurred between baseline, post-power clean protocol, and post-squat clean protocol measurements. No significant (p ~.058) mean difference was found in vertical jump scores for the college-aged males across the baseline, pre and post measurements. No significant (p >.355) mean difference was found in 40 meter sprint scores across the three protocols for the college-aged males.

This book was released on 2009 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of Complex Training on lower body power, measured by vertical jump, following a six week program. Furthermore, the project was also aimed at determining whether it matters that the first exercise in the complex set is a strength or power exercise. Thirty-six recreationally trained men and women ages twenty to twenty-nine years, from a college physical education course, were randomly assigned to three groups: squat and countermovement squat jumps, kettlebell swings and countermovement squat jumps, and a control group which did not participate in complex training throughout the six weeks. All participants were pre and post tested in vertical jump. The results reveal a statistically significant main effect difference in pre-post vertical jump measures within each group (p

Book excerpt: ABSTRACT: The present study was designed to examine the acute effects of unstable surface training (UST) and whole body vibration (WBV) on countermovement (CMJ) and squat jump (SJ) performance in NCAA Division III college female athletes. Subjects consisted of 20 female athletes currently performing strength and conditioning programs. Subjects random-ly completed 6 sessions of 20 body wt squats to tempo in one of three conditions (CON r UST r or WBV) followed by 4 min passive rest and three each of the CMJs and SJs. Testing was performed on non-consecutive days. Subjects were assessed for jump height (JH) r max force (F) r rate-offorce development (RFD)r max power (P) r and vertical takeoff velocity (V). Post testing r the CMJ and SJ in each condition were analyzed for eccentric utilization ratio (EUR). There was no significant interaction in the current study (p > .05) There were no significant main effects for condition (p > .05). Significant main effects (p .05) were found for JHr RFDr P r and V for jump type (CMJ SJ) In Division III female athletes UST and WBV did not improve performance on the CMJ or SJ. On an acute basis r the use of UST or WBV was not shown to be beneficial for increasing Fr RFDr P r Vr or for improving the EUR.
