Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Economy of Human Life: Translated From an Indian Manuscript Written by an Ancient Bramin, to Which Is Prefixed, an Account of the Manner in Which the Said Manuscript Was Discovered; In a Letter From an English Gentleman Residing in China The spirit of virtue and morality which breaths in this ancient piece of Eastern instruction, its force and conciseness, and the hopes that it may do good, have prevailed with the person to whom it was sent, to communicate to the public what was translated only for his particular amusement. There are some reasons, which at present make it proper to conceal not only his Own name, but the name of his correspondent, who has now resided in China several years, and been engaged in a business very different from that of collecting literary curiosities... These reasons will not subsist long; and, as he seems to intimate a design on his return to England, to publish an entire translation of Cao-Tsou's whole journey, the public then, in all probability, will have an opportunity of being satisfied concerning any particulars which they may be curious to know. Download or read book The Economy of Human Life Translated from an Indian Manuscript Written by an Ancient Bramin to Which Is Prefixed an Account of the Manner in Which the Said Manuscript Was Discovered written by ROBERT. DODSLEY and published by Gale Ecco, Print Editions. This book was released on 2018-04-24 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by advances in the printing press. In its determination to preserve the century of revolution, Gale initiated a revolution of its own: digitization of epic proportions to preserve these invaluable works in the largest archive of its kind. Now for the first time these high-quality digital copies of original 18th century manuscripts are available in print, making them highly accessible to libraries, undergraduate students, and independent scholars. The Age of Enlightenment profoundly enriched religious and philosophical understanding and continues to influence present-day thinking. Works collected here include masterpieces by David Hume, Immanuel Kant, and Jean-Jacques Rousseau, as well as religious sermons and moral debates on the issues of the day, such as the slave trade. The Age of Reason saw conflict between Protestantism and Catholicism transformed into one between faith and logic -- a debate that continues in the twenty-first century. ++++ The below data was compiled from various identification fields in the bibliographic record of this title.
