Book Has the Dutch Miracle Come to an End

Download or read book Has the Dutch Miracle Come to an End written by Jan C. van Ours and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 37 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the past decades unemployment in the Netherlands has gone down substantially. The main suspects responsible for this decline are the growth of part-time labor, the reform of the benefit system and wage moderation. Nevertheless, in 2002 the unemployment rate in the Netherlands has increased somewhat. However, since the huge decline in unemployment was due to structural improvements in the functioning of the labor market there is not a lot of reason to worry about the recent rise in unemployment. The current structure of the labor market is a lot 'healthier' than it was in the early 1980s. Therefore, the upward movement of the unemployment rate is bound to be a mild one.

Book Force of Order and Methods An American View into the Dutch Directed Society

Download or read book Force of Order and Methods An American View into the Dutch Directed Society written by M. Blanken and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Netherlands is an unusual nation in many ways. It is not only that nearly half her land is below sea level. Nor is it that she is one of the world's most crowded lands; her more than 13 million people create a population density of about 1000 per square mile. Nor is it that half her national income is dependent upon world trade. Nor is it that so small a nation could achieve peace and prosperity with so little natural resources. What is most unusual is that the Netherlands has made such a rapid and total adjustment to the demands of modern technological society. In no small measure this was achieved by a deliberate policy of planning, direction, control and development. Its postwar history tells how a determined people under intelligent govern ment leadership rose from a broken economy to a level of economic and social development that places their society among the most modern in the world. The Netherlands is a success stor} that in some measure has been overlooked by a wider world. This will be an attempt to record her story, touching upon some of the causes and results of this success. The Netherlands is undoubtedly one of the most planning conscious of modern nations. This is not to say that the Dutch government or its people have any concept comparable to the totality of Soviet Five Year It might be more accurate to see Dutch planning as similar to Plans.

  • ISBN : 1135907706
  • Pages : 358 pages

Download or read book The Netherlands written by Frank J. Lechner and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2012-08-21 with total page 358 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Netherlands is the first concise, authored introduction available on the topic. The Netherlands has been a key entrepot in the world capitalist system for centuries, but because of relatively recent demographic changes, it has become symbolic of the clash of European and Islamic cultures. Perhaps the most secular nation in the world, it now houses a very large Islamic population. That population is the fruit of globalization, and how the Dutch have responded to this broad cultural shift tells us a great deal about the changing nature of national identity in the age of globalization. In particular, Frank Lechner explains how globalization calls forth very particularistic and localist responses. Along with providing a broad overview of the contemporary Netherlands, Lechner will focus on how globalization is generating new discourses, cultures, and state policies. Among other topics, the book will feature chapters on soccer culture, religion (and the lack thereof), the media, the welfare state, multiculturalism, and the Netherlands place in the larger European Union.

Book Why Is the Netherlands the Best Country

Download or read book Why Is the Netherlands the Best Country written by Siv Gustafsson and published by Amsterdam University Press. This book was released on 2008-01-01 with total page 45 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Annotation. Population economics is about your own life. Issues such as: optimal age at motherhood, career planning, birth timing, marriage and divorce are questions that every individual has to decide on. All these private decisions are both influenced by the economic situation and have economic consequences. Therefore economics of the family contributes both on the micro level for individuals making decisions and on the macro level for governments worrying for example about aging of the population. Because institutional arrangements differ between countries inter-county comparisons can explain behaviour. Book Swords into Plowshares

Download or read book Swords into Plowshares written by David Hoicka and published by Singapore Mediation Solutions. This book was released on with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a world that often feels torn by conflict and strife, the ancient words of the prophet Isaiah offer a vision of profound hope. "They will beat their swords into plowshares," he wrote, "and their spears into pruning hooks." It's a powerful image - a future where the tools of war are transformed into the instruments of peace and prosperity. For the defense industry, this vision is more than just a lofty ideal. It's a roadmap for a brighter tomorrow. As the world changes and the priorities of nations shift, the companies that have long been at the forefront of military innovation are faced with a choice. They can cling to the ways of the past, or they can adapt, evolve, and apply their immense strengths to solving the challenges of a new era. This book is the story of those who have chosen the latter path. In the pages that follow, you'll meet the visionary leaders and organizations who are at the vanguard of a powerful transformation. From pioneering environmental remediation to revolutionizing civilian manufacturing, they're turning swords into plowshares in the most literal sense. But this isn't just a story of corporate strategy or market trends. It's a profoundly human tale of courage, resilience, and the unshakable belief that a better world is possible. Behind every innovation and every bold new venture are countless individuals - engineers and entrepreneurs, dreamers and doers - who have staked their livelihoods and their futures on the conviction that their skills and expertise can make a real difference. Their journeys have not been easy. The path from conflict to creation is strewn with obstacles and uncertainties. But through their struggles and their triumphs, these pioneers are charting a course that others can follow. They're proving that the choice between swords and plowshares is a false one - that with enough creativity and commitment, we can forge a future where both people and profits can flourish. This is a message that matters to us all. Whether you're a defense industry executive or a concerned global citizen, the transformation chronicled in these pages holds profound implications. It speaks to the power of innovation to drive positive change, the importance of corporate responsibility in an interconnected world, and the potential for even the most entrenched institutions to evolve and adapt. But more than that, it speaks to the resilience of the human spirit. In a time of global challenges and existential threats, it's easy to give in to despair. But the stories you're about to read are a powerful reminder that another way is possible. That by turning our swords into plowshares - by channeling our resources and our resolve into the work of building rather than destroying - we can create a world of prosperity, sustainability, and peace. So let's draw inspiration from the visionaries in these pages. Let's see in their example not just a path for the defense industry, but a model for us all. And let's move forward with the conviction that, together, we can make Isaiah's ancient prophecy a modern reality. The journey from swords to plowshares is one we must all take - and it starts here, with the turn of a page. This book is priced at an affordable price point to enable widest availability. If this collection of inspiring stories how to make Swords into Plowshares, saves even one life or brings happiness to a single person, it will fill me also with hope and happiness, knowing I've made a difference as the author.
