Book The Dragon s Footprints

Download or read book The Dragon s Footprints written by Alex He and published by McGill-Queen's Press - MQUP. This book was released on 2016-10-17 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Dragon’s Footprints: China in the Global Economic Governance System under the G20 Framework examines China’s participation in the G20; its efforts to increase its prestige in the international monetary system through the internationalization of its currency, the renminbi; its role in the multilateral development banks — the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and the New Development Bank; and its involvement in global trade governance, in light of the dazzling growth its economy has experienced since its ascension to the World Trade Organization in 2001. Clearly, China has its own views on how to engage with governance bodies and what benefits it expects to reap from its participation in global economic governance. There is no doubt that China is leaving its footprint on many aspects of the international financial system through its growing engagement with and greater integration into the global economy. The Dragon’s Footprints provides an in-depth discussion of what China has gained and learned from this experience and considers the implications for its foreign policy and future economic development.

Book Dinosaurs Dragons and the Bible

Download or read book Dinosaurs Dragons and the Bible written by Bodie Hodge and published by New Leaf Publishing Group. This book was released on 2023-05-09 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dinosaurs, Dragons, and the Bible is a one-of-a kind Christian apologetic resource sure to captivate families, scientists, historians, and theologians! Using the Bible as the absolute authority, Bodie Hodge of Answers in Genesis, the Creation Museum, and the Ark Encounter, provides answers to the most asked questions about these amazing creatures. As Christians, we must not ignore what the Scriptures say about dinosaurs and dragons and accept the secular world’s wisdom. This #ProBible handbook offers fascinating answers based on fossil footprints, soft tissue, biblical references to dragons, serpents, and leviathans, and much more. Go beyond the Hollywood version of these magnificent creatures to discover the truth of these icons of Creation and testaments of God’s power in the Genesis Flood. Designed for almost all ages, the book answers questions such as: How Did Huge Dinosaurs Fit on the Ark? Are Dinosaurs and Dragons the Same Thing? How Do I Use the Bible as the Framework to Look at Dinosaurs? Were Dinosaurs on Noah’s Ark (and Did Any Go Extinct Before the Flood)? Are Dinosaur Fossils in the Cretaceous, Jurassic, and Triassic Rock Millions of Years Old or from the Flood? Why Don’t We Find the Word “Dinosaur” in the Bible? Are There Any Human and Dinosaur Fossils Buried Together? Dinosaurs are nearly synonymous with evolution in the minds of much of the world. Studying these answers will help Christian families, church leaders, scientists, and theologians develop greater faith in the infallibility of God’s Word and His role as Creator. A Note from the author, Bodie Hodge: “I want to encourage parents and churches to be able to respond biblically to the secular attacks (war) on our children. So, as any good General would do in times of war, we need to study our opponent and know exactly what the secular side is teaching our children. Then, get equipped with solid biblical answers from our highest commanding officer (God and His Word) to defend our children against the attacks. Then, teach this knowledge diligently and apologetically to the next generation, like parents and churches are supposed to do (e.g., Ephesians 6:4-11, 2 Timothy 3:16–17).”

Book Small Footsteps in the Land of the Dragon

Download or read book Small Footsteps in the Land of the Dragon written by Barbara Brooks Wallace and published by Pangea Publications LLC. This book was released on 2016-02-28 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Growing up in China! People often ask if I liked growing up in China. Did it feel different? Different from what? How could it feel different if the sights and sounds, and, yes, even the pungent smells had always been there in my life from the time I was born? Now, looking back on it, I suppose I can see where it was different compared to growing up in America, and perhaps can understand why people might ask. But it wasn't different back then. No, it wasn't then at all. Even when we were caught up in the swirl of things happening in China on a national scale, the Communist uprising, the attacks by Japan that presaged World War II, things that actually affected my life more directly in one way or another, I was only a child busy with growing up in my own little world, taking my own personal small footsteps in the Land of the Dragon.

Book The Dragons and the Snakes

Download or read book The Dragons and the Snakes written by David Kilcullen and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 2020 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book applies concepts from evolutionary science and military innovation to explore how state and nonstate adversaries of the Western powers have learned to defeat (or render irrelevant) the model of high-tech, expensive, precision warfare pioneered by the United States in 1991 and globally dominant since. The book begins with a historical overview of the period since the Cold War, framed by CIA Director James Woolsey's 1993 comment that "we have slain a large dragon" (the Soviet Union) "but now we find ourselves in a jungle filled with a bewildering variety of poisonous snakes, and in many ways the dragon was easier to keep track of." The book describes the selective pressures acting on adversaries as a result of the evolutionary fitness landscape created by western military dominance. It then explores ideas from social and evolutionary science - including social learning, natural selection, artificial selection, predator effects, and the distinction between concept-led peacetime innovation and wartime coevolution - to explain how adversaries adapt. It presents a series of case studies on nonstate actors (including Al Qaeda, Hezbollah, and Islamic State), Russia, and China, as well as sections on North Korea and Iran. The book concludes by considering how western powers can respond to the increasing ineffectiveness of their military model and examines likely strategic futures.

They have failed to carry out the commission given to them by the Great Wolf, but unknown to them, and the animals of the Wilds, the stolen cubs and animals are entrenched in a struggle of their own. Being schooled with the black wolves, Tristian and Challenger combat the ideas of morphism, fight against the myths of fear created against the white wolves and their beliefs, and give healing to, the greatest fighter ever to live among the black wolves. There are many dragons to defeat. It is not just a physical fight the white wolves are up against, but a war of ideologies. Both the kingdoms of the white and dark wolf are divided. Treachery in the black wolf’s court leads Snuffer and Warrior to battle for control of the eastern fortress. The dark wolves have tried to destroy the Way since it was handed down from the House of Alexander, but now Khoa has pledged to destroy the black wolves and in the process may lose himself and tear apart his kingdom. Though the adults have failed to reach out and spread the Way, it is the cubs that manage to bridge the gap between species in a subtle but dramatic way. Is it enough to hold back the approaching war, and to change the path of history for the white and dark wolves? Can the cubs survive and make it back to the Wilds?
