How strange? When your parents support and destiny oppose that is what the story is all about. A Punjabi boy and a Gujarati girl, two different cultures and religion but still both are alike very same to each other. All of us have different plannings to make the first commitment to our dear ones but when our commitment is never completed than. Something such happened to Rajveer and Anisha. It is an incomplete story with a complete end. Anisha thought her father had made strict rules for her, so he will never support her but the reality of life was that he only stands by her side breaking all his rules he took the best decisions for his daughters happiness. Such are our parents, they are very rude to us in our particular age but they can do anything and everything for our betterment. Parents are always the same whether mine or yours. Their only intension in life is their childs future and better life for him. There is a dialogue in one of my favorite films that In India, parents are everything for children and children are their whole world for parents and its still true. My story conveys the same message.

Download or read book Rapper Writer Pop Cultural Player written by Josephine Metcalf and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-04-08 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of essays critically engages with factors relating to black urban life and cultural representation in the post-civil rights era, using Ice-T and his myriad roles as musician, actor, writer, celebrity, and industrialist as a vehicle through which to interpret and understand the African American experience. Over the past three decades, African Americans have faced a number of new challenges brought about by changes in the political, economic and social structure of America. Furthermore, this vastly changed social landscape has produced a number of resonant pop-cultural trends that have proved to be both innovative and admired on the one hand, and contentious and divisive on the other. Ice-T’s iconic and multifarious career maps these shifts. This is the first book that, taken as a whole, looks at a black cultural icon's manipulation of (or manipulation by?) so many different forms simultaneously. The result is a fascinating series of tensions arising from Ice-T’s ability to inhabit conflicting pop-cultural roles including: ’hardcore’ gangsta rapper and dedicated philanthropist; author of controversial song Cop Killer and network television cop; self-proclaimed ’pimp’ and reality television house husband. As the essays in this collection detail, Ice-T’s chameleonic public image consistently tests the accepted parameters of black cultural production, and in doing so illuminates the contradictions of a society erroneously dubbed ’post-racial’.

Download or read book Gangs written by Jacqueline Schneider and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-11-30 with total page 566 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The task of researching gangs is fraught with difficulties, central to which are issues of definition and reliance on certain forms of data for analyses. These methodological issues have been acknowledged as limitations in most of the existing research, but they have not been explored as being potentially serious flaws contributing to the proliferation of myth, or as aggravating factors that exacerbate what is essentially a relatively uncomplicated social process. Also unclear from existing studies is the extent to which suppositions about gangs feed moral panics or contribute to the misidentification or over-specification of a problem. This captivating volume focuses on gangs, their formation, identity and behaviour with a view to developing a preventive strategy.
Download or read book Who Got the Camera written by Eric Harvey and published by University of Texas Press. This book was released on 2021-10-05 with total page 358 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reality first appeared in the late 1980s—in the sense not of real life but rather of the TV entertainment genre inaugurated by shows such as Cops and America’s Most Wanted; the daytime gabfests of Geraldo, Oprah, and Donahue; and the tabloid news of A Current Affair. In a bracing work of cultural criticism, Eric Harvey argues that reality TV emerged in dialog with another kind of entertainment that served as its foil while borrowing its techniques: gangsta rap. Or, as legendary performers Ice Cube and Ice-T called it, “reality rap.” Reality rap and reality TV were components of a cultural revolution that redefined popular entertainment as a truth-telling medium. Reality entertainment borrowed journalistic tropes but was undiluted by the caveats and context that journalism demanded. While N.W.A.’s “Fuck tha Police” countered Cops’ vision of Black lives in America, the reality rappers who emerged in that group’s wake, such as Snoop Doggy Dogg and Tupac Shakur, embraced reality’s visceral tabloid sensationalism, using the media's obsession with Black criminality to collapse the distinction between image and truth. Reality TV and reality rap nurtured the world we live in now, where politics and basic facts don’t feel real until they have been translated into mass-mediated entertainment.
