Download or read book The Doggo Book written by Alan Ira Gordon and published by . This book was released on 2021-01-27 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dog-Speak or DoggoLingo (alternately at times referred to as woof, bork or yiff) is the idea is that such words are a dog's own idiom and are purported to be the thinking words that go on in a dog's own brain. In other words, cutesy changes to everyday words that we idiot humans assume that a dog would speak if he or she were having a conversation with a person. For both parties in the hooman-doggo relationship, it's upbeat, joyful and, let's be honest and face it, both the dog and person are completely and mutually-clueless in their own relentlessly friendly way. Because we speak completely different languages. Which is why we invent internet languages like "DoggoSpeak" to at least imagine what's going on under our canine companions' thinking caps. And I'm pretty certain that the dogs have come-up with their own "HoomanSpeak" dialect to explain to each other what they think we're saying. They're just not telling us about it. Yet. Which leads us to The Doggo Book, to express how wonderful it is to have our four-legged friends in our two-legged lives.

Download or read book The Dog written by Joseph O'Neill and published by Vintage. This book was released on 2015-06-09 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A New York Times Notable Book Nominated for the Man Booker Prize In this extraordinary, both comic and philosophically profound novel, the acclaimed author of Netherland uncovers the hidden contours of a glittering Middle Eastern city—and the quiet dilemmas of modernity. When our unnamed hero, a self-sabotaging and oddly existential lawyer, finds his life in New York falling apart, he seizes an opportunity to flee to Dubai, taking a mysterious job for a fabulously wealthy Lebanese family. As he struggles with his position as the “family officer” of the capricious Batros brothers, he also struggles with the “doghouse,” a condition of culpability in which he feels trapped, even as he composes endless electronic correspondence—both sent and unsent—in an attempt to find a way out. An unforgettable fable for our globalized times, The Dog is told with Joseph O’Neill’s hallmark eloquence, empathy, and stylistic mastery.
Download or read book Beloved Dog written by Maira Kalman and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2017-10-31 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Maira Kalman, with wit and great sensitivity, reveals why dogs bring out the best in us Maira Kalman + Dogs = Bliss Dogs have lessons for us all. In Beloved Dog, renowned artist and author Maira Kalman illuminates our cherished companions as only she can. From the dogs lovingly illustrated in her acclaimed children’s books to the real-life pets who inspire her still, Kalman’s Beloved Dog is joyful, beautifully illustrated, and, as always, deeply philosophical. Here is Max Stravinsky, the dog poet of Oh-La-La (Max in Love)-fame, and her own Irish Wheaton Pete (almost named Einstein, until he revealed himself to be “clearly no Einstein”), who also made an appearance in the delightful What Pete Ate: From A to Z. And of course, there is Boganch, Kalman’s in-laws’ “big black slobbering Hungarian Beast.” And that’s just the beginning. With humor and intelligence, Kalman gives voice to the dogs she adores, noting that they are constant reminders that life reveals the best of itself when we live fully in the moment and extend unconditional love. “And it is very true,” she writes, “that the most tender, complicated, most generous part of our being blossoms without any effort, when it comes to the love of a dog.”

But despite her remarkable gift for canine communication, Carleen is determined to finally prove that she is a real person.
