Book Geometric Harmonic Analysis

Download or read book Geometric Harmonic Analysis written by Dorina Mitrea and published by . This book was released on 2022 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph presents a comprehensive, self-contained, and novel approach to the Divergence Theorem through five progressive volumes. Its ultimate aim is to develop tools in Real and Harmonic Analysis, of geometric measure theoretic flavor, capable of treating a broad spectrum of boundary value problems formulated in rather general geometric and analytic settings. The text is intended for researchers, graduate students, and industry professionals interested in applications of harmonic analysis and geometric measure theory to complex analysis, scattering, and partial differential equations. Volume I establishes a sharp version of the Divergence Theorem (aka Fundamental Theorem of Calculus) which allows for an inclusive class of vector fields whose boundary trace is only assumed to exist in a nontangential pointwise sense.

Book A Course on Plasticity Theory

Download or read book A Course on Plasticity Theory written by David Steigmann and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2023-01-20 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Plasticity Theory is characterized by many competing and often incompatible points of view. This book seeks to strengthen the foundations of continuum plasticity theory, emphasizing a unifying perspective grounded in the fundamental notion of material symmetry. Steigmann's book offers a systematic framework for the proper understanding of established models of plasticity and for their modern extensions and generalizations. Particular emphasis is placed on the differential-geometric aspects of the subject and their role in illuminating the conceptual foundations of plasticity theory. Classical models, together with several subjects of interest in contemporary research, are developed in a unified format. The book is addressed to graduate students and academics working in the field of continuum mechanics.

Book Field Analysis and Electromagnetics

Download or read book Field Analysis and Electromagnetics written by Mansour Javid and published by Courier Dover Publications. This book was released on 2019-05-15 with total page 545 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Intended for advanced undergraduates and graduate students in electrical engineering and physics, this text presents a science-oriented, mathematically complete, and unified approach to the study of field theory and electromagnetics. To facilitate a detailed development of the theoretical material, the authors reject the traditional historical "case study" approach in favor of the theory's logical development, followed by examples that illuminate facets of the theory. The book may be divided into three parts: field analysis, basic electromagnetic theory, and applications. Basic laws and concepts — along with their implications — are thoroughly discussed before detailed mathematical analysis is undertaken. In addition to rigorous treatments of all relevant derivations and proofs, appropriate emphasis is placed upon the physical significance of mathematical operations.

Book Mathematical Techniques and Physical Applications

Download or read book Mathematical Techniques and Physical Applications written by J Killingbeck and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 737 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mathematical Techniques and Physical Applications provides a wide range of basic mathematical concepts and methods, which are relevant to physical theory. This book is divided into 10 chapters that cover the different branches of traditional mathematics. This book deals first with the concept of vector, matrix, and tensor analysis. These topics are followed by discussions on several theories of series relevant to physics; the fundamentals of complex variables and analytic functions; variational calculus for presenting the basic laws of many branches of physics; and the applications of group representations. The final chapters explore some partial and integral equations and derivatives of physics, as well as the concept and application of probability theory. Physics teachers and students will greatly appreciate this book.

Book Yield Design

Download or read book Yield Design written by Jean Salençon and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-05-06 with total page 171 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the middle of the 20th Century yield design approaches have been identified with the lower and upper bound theorem of limit analysis theory – a theory associated with perfect plasticity. This theory is very restrictive regarding the applicability of yield design approaches, which have been used for centuries for the stability of civil engineering structures. This book presents a theory of yield design within the original “equilibrium/resistance” framework rather than referring to the theories of plasticity or limit analysis; expressing the compatibility between the equilibrium of the considered structure and the resistance of its constituent material through simple mathematical arguments of duality and convex analysis results in a general formulation, which encompasses the many aspects of its implementation to various stability analysis problems. After a historic outline and an introductory example, the general theory is developed for the three-dimensional continuum model in a versatile form based upon simple arguments from the mathematical theory of convexity. It is then straightforwardly transposed to the one-dimensional curvilinear continuum, for the yield design analysis of beams, and the two-dimensional continuum model of plates and thin slabs subjected to bending. Field and laboratory observations of the collapse of mechanical systems are presented along with the defining concept of the multi-parameter loading mode. The compatibility of equilibrium and resistance is first expressed in its primal form, on the basis of the equilibrium equations and the strength domain of the material defined by a convex strength criterion along with the dual approach in the field of potentially safe loads, as is the highlighting of the role implicitly played by the theory of yield design as the fundamental basis of the implementation of the ultimate limit state design (ULSD) philosophy with the explicit introduction of resistance parameters. Contents 1. Origins and Topicality of a Concept. 2. An Introductory Example of the Yield Design Approach. 3. The Continuum Mechanics Framework. 4. Primal Approach of the Theory of Yield Design. 5. Dual Approach of the Theory of Yield Design. 6. Kinematic Exterior Approach. 7. Ultimate Limit State Design from the Theory of Yield Design. 8. Optimality and Probability Approaches of Yield Design. 9. Yield Design of Structures. 10. Yield Design of Plates: the Model. 11. Yield Design of Plates Subjected to Pure Bending. About the Authors Jean Salençon is Emeritus Professor at École polytechnique and École des ponts et chaussées, ParisTech, France. Since 2009 he has been a member of the Administrative Board of CNRS (Paris, France). He has received many awards including the Légion d’Honneur (Commander), Ordre National du Mérite (Officer) and Palmes Académiques (Commander).
