Book Clinical Cases in Cardiac Electrophysiology Supraventricular Arrhythmias

Download or read book Clinical Cases in Cardiac Electrophysiology Supraventricular Arrhythmias written by Lucian Muresan and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-12-01 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first of a three-volume project aimed at providing unique case reports (20 cases per volume) of a large number of supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias encountered in clinical practice. The book is focused on the treatment of supraventricular arrhythmias, namely focal atrial tachycardias, typical and atypical AVNRT and accessory pathways (both manifest and concealed). All presented-cases were performed using the CARTO electro-anatomical mapping system, which allows the reader to better understand the arrhythmia features due to the high number of images provided. A large number of high-quality figures, which represent the core of the authors’ work, enrich the contents: all cases are built around suggestive figures acquired during the patients’ hospitalization, which clearly illustrate important concepts used in catheter ablation of cardiac arrhythmias. The figures are not only related to the catheter ablation procedure, but also to the patient history, thus helping the reader to place the invasive treatment of the arrhythmias into clinical context: electrocardiograms, Holter ECGs, signal-averaged ECGs, chest X-Rays, transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography images, MRI, CT scans, coronary angiography images are provided when considered relevant, in order to better present the patient’s condition. Short videoclips with activation maps of the atria or the ventricles during the studied arrhythmia complete the information provided. Teaching-oriented, all chapters include questions and answers and key messages at the end of each case. For this reason, it will be an invaluable tool for cardiologists, clinical cardiac electrophysiologists, and interventional cardiac electrophysiologists in training, but also for all those interested in learning more about the subject.

Book Case Studies in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology E Book

Download or read book Case Studies in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology E Book written by John M. Miller and published by Elsevier Health Sciences. This book was released on 2016-12-21 with total page 435 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Keeping up with the use of new technologies in cardiology is becoming increasingly challenging. Case Studies in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology helps to bridge the gap between knowledge and application with 28 cases spanning both common and uncommon arrhythmias and ablation scenarios, each of which includes the clinical presentation, baseline ECG, ECG during arrhythmia, stepwise electrophysiologic diagnostic maneuvers and some of their pitfalls, and optimal therapy. - Includes 28 cases spanning the spectrum of what an electrophysiologist is likely to see in practice. - Shows the correct way of conducting procedures, as well as "detours" that an unwary practitioner may take: misdiagnoses and why they are wrong; incorrect therapeutic choices and why these may be not only unsuccessful but even harmful. - Encourages you to read and interpret the ECGs, mapping diagrams, and other diagnostic information before revealing the expert opinion or actual results of each case. - Summarizes the key learning points in each case. - Discusses potential procedural complications, including anticipation, avoidance, recognition, and response and resolution. - Covers complex ablations (atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia) as well as prior failed ablations.

This book was released on 2015-03-12 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Podrid's Real-World ECGs combines traditional case-based workbooks with a versatile Web-based program to offer students, health care professionals, and physicians an indispensable resource for developing and honing the technical skills and systematic approach needed to interpret ECGs with confidence. ECGs from real patient cases offer a complete and in-depth learning experience by focusing on fundamental electrophysiologic properties and clinical concepts as well as detailed discussion of important diagnostic findings and relevant management decisions. Six comprehensive volumes encompass more than 600 individual case studies—plus an online repository of hundreds more interactive case studies (www.realworldECGs.com)—that include feedback and discussion about the important waveforms and clinical decision-making involved. From an introductory volume that outlines the approaches and tools utilized in the analysis of all ECGs to subsequent volumes covering particular disease entities for which the ECG is useful, readers will take away the in-depth knowledge needed to successfully interpret the spectrum of routine to challenging ECGs they will encounter in their own clinical practice. Dr. Philip Podrid, the primary author, is an academic cardiologist and Professor of Medicine and Pharmacology at Boston University School of Medicine and a Lecturer at Harvard Medical School. He has taught ECG interpretation for more than 35 years to medical students, house staff (interns and residents), cardiology fellows, physicians, nurses, and EMTs. Volume 4: Arrhythmias Volume 4, Arrhythmias--Part A: Core Cases presents 62 cases that are fundamental to the understanding and diagnosis of arrhythmias. Included are rhythm disorders involving the sinus node, those generated by the atrial myocardium, those involving the AV node or junction, and those that originate within the ventricular myocardium. An additional 58 cases for further study are available in a separate digital edition,Volume 4, Arrhythmias–Part B: Practice Cases.
