In the second novel of The Werewolves of Rebellion series, Phillip Andrews, second-in-command of the Werewolves of Rebellion, bumps into Daffodil, a leggy blond, and falls hard for her. There’s only one problem—she’s the River Rebel’s branded property. But Daffodil has even worse problems and finds herself in a dangerous, abusive sexual game with Ezra Smith, acting president of the River Rebels. Upon meeting Phillip, Daffodil can’t get him out of her mind. He gives her hope and strength, things no man has ever inspired in her before. If she tries to leave the River Rebels, Ezra will surely find her and murder Phillip. And when she foils one of Ezra’s human-trafficking shipments, Daffodil is forced to escape the MC and go into hiding in Phillip’s arms. As Halloween approaches, the Werewolves of Rebellion are faced with bizarre deaths in their MC. Men are found drained of everything, leaving only mummified husks behind. Demon-women tantalize dreams and frighten everyone in the MC. Bernadette, mate to club president Frank Nightshade, is now an apprentice witch, but although she keeps trying to protect the MC and Frank’s clan from evil, now she must save Phil and his new woman, Daffodil, too. The only way that Phil and Daffodil can be together is to vanquish the demons, but in doing so, how many will lose their lives, and will it be worth it for their love?

Book Devils

    Book Details:
  • Author : Fyodor Dostoevsky
  • Publisher : Oxford Paperbacks
  • Release : 2008-05-08
  • ISBN : 0199540497
  • Pages : 801 pages

Download or read book Devils written by Fyodor Dostoevsky and published by Oxford Paperbacks. This book was released on 2008-05-08 with total page 801 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Devils, also known in English as The Possessed and The Demons, was first published in 1871-2. The third of Dostoevsky's five major novels, it is at once a powerful political tract and a profound study of atheism, depicting the disarray which follows the appearance of a band of modish radicals in a small provincial town. Dostoevsky compares infectious radicalism to the devils that drove the Gadarene swine over the precipice in his vision of a society possessed by demonic creatures that produce devastating delusions of rationality. Dostoevsky is at his most imaginatively humorous in Devils: the novel is full of buffoonery and grotesque comedy. The plot is loosely based on the details of a notorious case of political murder, but Dostoevsky weaves suicide, rape, and a multiplicity of scandals into a compelling story of political evil. This new translation also includes the chapter `Stavrogin's Confession', which was initially considered to be too shocking to print. In this edition it appears where the author originally intended it.

Book Dostoevsky s The Devils

Download or read book Dostoevsky s The Devils written by William J. Leatherbarrow and published by Northwestern University Press. This book was released on 1999 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The most openly political of Dostoevsky's four major novels, The Devils has left literary scholars intrigued with its difficult narrative structure which veers back and forth between first and third person, and fascinated by the political overtones and social commentary it includes. For these reasons, The Devils often anchors courses on Dostoevsky's works. This critical companion contains essays that shed light on both the tricky literary structure of the novel as well as its social and political components.

Book Russian Literature and Its Demons

Download or read book Russian Literature and Its Demons written by Pamela Davidson and published by Berghahn Books. This book was released on 2000 with total page 552 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Merezhkovsky's bold claim that "all Russian literature is, to a certain degree, a struggle with the temptation of demonism" is undoubtedly justified. And yet, despite its evident centrality to Russian culture, the unique and fascinating phenomenon of Russian literary demonism has so far received little critical attention. This substantial collection fills the gap. A comprehensive analytical introduction by the editor is follwed by a series of fourteen essays, written by eminent scholars in their fields. The first part explores the main shaping contexts of literary demonism: the Russian Orthodox and folk tradition, the demonization of historical figures, and views of art as intrinsically demonic. The second part traces the development of a literary tradition of demonism in the works of authors ranging from Pushkin and Lermontov, Gogol and Dostoevsky, through to the poets and prose writers of modernism (including Blok, Akhmatova, Bely, Sologub, Rozanov, Zamiatin), and through to the end of the 20th century.

Book All the Devils Are Here

Download or read book All the Devils Are Here written by David Greven and published by University of Virginia Press. This book was released on 2024-04-10 with total page 287 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The English literary influence on classic American novelists’ depictions of gender, sexuality, and race With All the Devils Are Here, the literary scholar David Greven makes a signal contribution to the growing list of studies dedicated to tracing threads of literary influence. Herman Melville’s, Nathaniel Hawthorne’s, and James Fenimore Cooper’s uses of Shakespeare and Milton, he finds, reflect not just an intertextual relationship between American Romanticism and the English tradition but also an ongoing engagement with gender and sexual politics. Greven limns the effect of Shakespeare’s Much Ado about Nothing on Hawthorne’s exploration of patriarchy, and he shows how misogyny in King Lear informed Melville’s evocation of “the step-mother world” of orphaned men in Moby-Dick. Throughout, Greven focuses particularly on male authors’ treatment of femininity, arguing that the figure of woman functions for them as a multivalent signifier for artistic expression. Ultimately, Greven demonstrates the ambitions of these writers to comment on the history of the Western tradition and the future of art from their unique positions as Americans.

This book was released on 2023-11-19 with total page 785 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This carefully crafted ebook: "Demons (The Possessed / The Devils) - The Unabridged Garnett Translation" is formatted for your eReader with a functional and detailed table of contents. Demons is an 1872 novel by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. Though titled The Possessed in the initial English translation, Dostoyevsky scholars and later translations favour the titles The Devils or Demons. An extremely political book, Demons is a testimonial of life in Imperial Russia in the late 19th century. As the revolutionary democrats begin to rise in Russia, different ideologies begin to collide. Dostoyevsky casts a critical eye on both the liberal idealists, portraying their ideas and ideological foundation as demonic, and the conservative establishment's ineptitude in dealing with those ideas and their social consequences. The entire novel takes place in a small town outside of Petersberg and is narrated by a man named Mr. Govorov. Mr. Govorov does not witness every conversation first hand, but nonetheless the narrator describes the story as if he partook in every situation or as a chronicler, who had the events described to him. We know very little of Mr. Govorov, except that he is a close friend of Stephan Trofimovich. Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoyevsky ( 1821 – 1881) was a Russian novelist, short story writer, essayist and philosopher. Dostoyevsky's literary works explore human psychology in the context of the troubled political, social, and spiritual atmosphere of 19th-century Russia. Many literary critics rate him as one of the greatest and most prominent psychologists in world literature.
