Download or read book Electro catalysis At Chemically Modified Solid Surfaces written by Jacques Simonet and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2017-10-13 with total page 449 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book documents Professor Jacques Simonet's contribution to building new electrode materials and their related catalytic reactions. Research includes synthesis of new alloys of palladium, discovery of new composite electrodes (including gold- and silver-graphene) and the creation of new materials through judicious cathodic or anodic doping. Additionally, studies demonstrate the malleability and reactivity of previously unused precious and semi-precious metals for the creation of 2D and 3D catalytic materials. Studies key to innovative research show how transition metals may reversibly cathodically insert small size electro-active molecules such as CO2 and O2, and be applied to methods of depollution brought by carbon and nitrogen oxides.Written for practical use, Simonet has provided both theory and tools needed for those aiming to recreate and develop his experiments in electrochemical catalysis and surface modifications. This full publication of research gives graduate and post-graduate students of chemistry, electrochemistry and catalysis an in-depth insight into key historical and modern developments in the field.

Download or read book Electropolymerization written by Ewa Schab-Balcerzak and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2011-12-22 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, great focus has been placed upon polymer thin films. These polymer thin films are important in many technological applications, ranging from coatings and adhesives to organic electronic devices, including sensors and detectors. Electrochemical polymerization is preferable, especially if the polymeric product is intended for use as polymer thin films, because electrogeneration allows fine control over the film thickness, an important parameter for fabrication of devices. Moreover, it was demonstrated that it is possible to modify the material properties by parameter control of the electrodeposition process. Electrochemistry is an excellent tool, not only for synthesis, but also for characterization and application of various types of materials. This book provides a timely overview of a current state of knowledge regarding the use of electropolymerization for new materials preparation, including conducting polymers and various possibilities of applications.

Download or read book Electrochemistry in Research and Development written by R. Kalvoda and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the papers presented at the UNESCO Scientific Forum on Chemistry in the Service of Mankind - Electrochemistry in Research and Development, held in Paris, June 4-6, 1984. Electrochemistry is concerned with the way electricity produces chemical changes and in turn chemical changes result in the production of electricity. This interaction forms the basis for an enormous variety of processes ranging from heavy industry through batteries to biological phenomena. Although there are many established applications, modern research has led to a great expansion in the possibilities for using electrochemistry in exciting future developments. To encourage this progress, UNESCO has set up an Expert Committee on Electrochemistry and its Applications in the European and North American region, which has already held a number of meetings devoted to specific topics. To achieve a synthesis of the main directions of development and to demonstrate the importance of these for the needs of our modern society, the Expert Committee organized a Forum on Electrochemistry in Research and Development. The object of this was to assess the future trends in research and development and to establish a dialogue between experts in electrochemistry and their colleagues in the many other disciplines which can make use of electrochemistry. The Forum was also intended to present electrochemistry and its applications in a form accessible to non-specialists so that science policy-makers will be aware of the potentialities of this subject for the future needs of mankind.
