Book CRC Handbook of Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy

Download or read book CRC Handbook of Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy written by Asha Varma and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-01-10 with total page 596 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (FAAS), which has gained worldwide acceptance as an analytical technique. FAAS offers 100-1000 times better determination and detection limits than other techniques for a majority of the elements. This technique requires a small sample size, and demands less sample-preparation time than others. The handbook is a collection of thousands of references for detection and determination of various elements in agricultural products, biological and clinical samples, and metallurgical and electronic materials. Each chapter is devoted to an element or a similar group of elements. Included are instrumental setup parameters, references, and author and subject indexes. Also presented are detailed appendixes covering glossary, list of manufacturers of spectrophotometers and its accessories, list of chemical suppliers, and list of reviews and abstracts. The handbook covers topics such as heavy metals, clinical products, and trace metal analysis. This desk-top reference is meant for chemists who handle day-to-day analysis problems in laboratories in government, clinical, industrial and academic settings. It is invaluable for those involved in research in environmental science, analytical chemistry, clinical chemistry and forensic science.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Geo-Platinum 87 Symposium, held at the Open University during April 1987, was designed as a forum for presentation of new research results on the occurrence, genesis, geochemistry, mineralogy and analysis of the platinum-group elements (PGE). With the support of the Open University and the Mineral Industry Research Organisation, the symposium was attended by 115 representatives of university departments, research institutions and members of the mining and mineral exploration industries. An introduction to the symposium was provided by two invited papers from C. J. Morrissey (Riofinex North) and C. R. N. Clark (Johnson Matthey) which were designed to give perspective to the goals of PGE research work. The first of these papers gave a provocative insight into the aims and objectives of an exploration manager, examining the influence of supply, demand and perceived world reserves on exploration strategy. The second invited paper gave a valuable view of the industrial uses, market trends and predicted changes in the commercial value of the platinum-group elements from the standpoint of a refining company and supplier. These invited papers are reproduced in this volume and are followed by twenty four full papers and twenty abstracts that reflect the wide range of research topics presented at the symposium.

Book Innovative and Applied Research on Platinum Group and Rare Earth Elements

Download or read book Innovative and Applied Research on Platinum Group and Rare Earth Elements written by Federica Zaccarini and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2020-12-10 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book (Special Issue) presents the geological environment, physical/chemical properties, and crystallographic data for two new minerals associated with chromitites from the Othrys ophiolite complex: Eliopoulosite, V7S8/IMA2019-96, and Grammatikopoulosite, NiVP/IMA2019-090. The distribution, mineralogy, and field relationships of PGE-enriched ores, which are important for our understanding of the metallogenic controls on the concentration of PGE and their exploration, are addressed in papers, providing (a) the first detailed data on the chromitites and platinum-group elements (PGE) mineralization from Ulan-Sar’dag ophiolite, Central Asian Fold Belt/East Sayan, Russia, (b) peculiarities on the distribution of PGE in arsenopyrites and pyrites from the Natalkinskoe gold ore deposit, NE Russia, and (c) the occurrence of zoned laurite found in the Merensky Reef of the Bushveld layered intrusion, South Africa, characterized by textural/compositional features suggesting “hydrothermal” origin. Two papers deal with (a) the rare earth element (REE) distribution in various mineral deposits of Sweden, obtained during the EURARE project, and their application to the exploration of REE and (b) the optimization of the beneficiation process for the REE recovery from black sands. Five papers provide new data of genetic and exploration significance on trace elements, including REE and PGE in various ore-types, and factors controlling the Cr stable isotope (δ53Cr values) in chromitites from the Balkan peninsula.
