Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Descent of the Sun" is a philosophical and religious paintings written through F. W. Bain. Published in the past due nineteenth century, the book explores the undying situation of the solar as an image of divine electricity and enlightenment. F. W. Bain, a British writer and pupil, delves into the mystical factors of the solar's descent, drawing on Eastern and Western philosophies to get to the lowest of the profound implications of this celestial phenomenon. Bain weaves a tapestry of non-secular and metaphysical thoughts, the usage of the descent of the solar as a metaphor for the soul's journey towards self-attention and non-secular enlightenment. The book explores subject subjects of cosmic concord, the interaction between light and darkness, and the cyclical nature of lifestyles. Bain's poetic and insightful fashion urges readers to reflect on the underlying meaning of existence and the interconnection of the cosmos. "The Descent of the Sun" is a thought-upsetting and contemplative paintings that crosses cultural and theological limitations, giving readers perception into the widely wide-spread longing for inner illumination. F. W. Bain's exam of religious truths and cosmic symbolism makes this painting both ageless and attractive for all and sundry searching for wisdom and enlightenment.

Download or read book Cuauht moc Descent of the Sun Priests written by d l davies and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2010-07-28 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This story takes place in the early 16th Century; a time when the world seemed to be expanding at an almost exponential rate. It occurs in South America in a land known as Maya: this is not a tale of what was, but rather, a story of what might have been if I had been in charge of that era. In the second story, Cuauhtémoc is sent to the City of Emperors. He meets the old Emperor and in the process accidentally gives him a new name. He meets the three Crown Princes; gets into another fight with pirate raiders as well as several of his own people; saves the life of a young girl and very nearly kills the Sun’s High Priest: it was a busy week, even for him. The tale unwinds and in the end, Maya has a new Emperor, when the old Emperor dies . . . or does he? If you want to know more; read the book.

Book The Descent of Love

Download or read book The Descent of Love written by Bert Bender and published by University of Pennsylvania Press. This book was released on 2015-11-16 with total page 457 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Upon its publication in 1871, Charles Darwin's The Descent of Man and Selection in Relation to Sex sent shock waves through the scientific community and the public at large. In an original and persuasive study, Bert Bender demonstrates that it is this treatise on sexual selection, rather than any of Darwin's earlier works on evolution, that provoked the most immediate and vigorous response from American fiction writers. These authors embraced and incorporated Darwin's theories, insights, and language, creating an increasingly dark and violent view of sexual love in American realist literature. In The Descent of Love, Bender carefully rereads the works of William Dean Howells, Henry James, Elizabeth Stuart Phelps, Sarah Orne Jewett, Kate Chopin, Harold Frederic, Charles W. Chesnutt, Edith Wharton, and Ernest Hemingway, teasing from them a startling but utterly convincing preoccupation with questions of sexual selection. Competing for readership as novelists who best grasped the "real" nature of human love, these writers also participated in a heated social debate over racial and sexual differences and the nature of sex itself. Influenced more by The Descent of Man than by the Origin of Species, Bender's novelists built upon Darwin's anthropological and zoological materials to anatomize their character's courtship behavior, returning consistently to concerns with physical beauty, natural dominance, and the power to select a mate. Bringing the resources of the history of science and intellectual history to this, the first full-length study of the impact of Darwin's theories in American literature, Bender revises accepted views of social Darwinism, American literary realism, and modernism in American literature, forever changing our perceptions of courtship and sexual interaction in American fiction from 1871 to 1926 and beyond.
