The rule of the Proletariat is another swing of the pendulum of Time. Autocracy is a government of the few from above; Bolshevism is a government of the few from below. Society may be likened to a rod, which only a just government can balance properly. But we are still trying to find the balancing point. Bolshevism is the other end of Czarism. In a true democracy is the cure for most of our social and political ills; but a few of them must remain to keep us going. A true democratic government is still an ideal to be attained. Book The Russian Bolshevik Revolution Classic Reprint

This book was released on 2018-03-16 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Russian Bolshevik Revolution This book is not written to make out a case, but to set forth what appear to be the significant facts. It is Offered on the theory that intelligent people are tired of being victims of propaganda about Russia and will welcome a book that is not trying to give their minds a certain twist. I can truthfully aver that when I set pen to paper I had no rigid mental attitudes toward the phases of the Russian revolution, so that such interpretations as I venture on have come out of my study of the facts themselves. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Bolshevik Tradition: Lenin, Stalin, Khrushchev In 1952 the all-union Communist Party (of Bolsheviks) changed its name to Communist Party of the Soviet Union, just about half a century after the designation Bolshevik had come into use Nonetheless, the term remains serviceable today as an alternative to Russian Communist, partly because there is no equally handy label, partly because the claim of lineal descent from the first Bolshevik, Lenin, was never more ardently stressed than at present. Moreover, the name Bolshevik probably evokes a more vivid image in both friend and foe of the movement Lenin set on foot. This is a book about the Bolsheviks, not about Communists or Marxists in general; it is an attempt to interpret the history of Bolshevism. It is not, however, a general history of the Bolshevik Party, much less of twentieth century Russia. Rather it traces the tradition or continuing theme of the party through the careers of three principal protagonists: Lenin, Stalin, and Khrushchev. The essay does not pretend to literal chronological balance; the twenty-three years of Stalin's personal ascend ancy are treated as a comprehensible phase of the evolution of the Bolshe vik tradition, as are the eight months of the Revolution of 1917. Such an approach has its limitations, but it follows from the Bolshevik View that their party is always characterized by a unique degree of unity and con tinuity. This approach is also consistent with an axiom of Bolshevism that the party has not usually acknowledged; the party depends upon the leadership of an individual dictator. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Bolshevism: Its Cure We were so early in the field combating International Socialism that it was a whole decade before the first edition of our book, Socialism: The Nation of Fatherless Children (1903), secured much of any notice, although it was highly commended by our then President Roosevelt, Samuel Gompers, His Eminence Cardinal O'Connell and other men vigorously interested in the relief of the masses as against the oppression of many masters of industry. Later editions were given a rather wide reading - 50,000 copies having been circulated. After we entered the world-war we thought, perhaps, the movement to run up the red flag over every capitol in the world had spent its projective force. But the Dictatorship of the Proletariat in Russia gave dire proof that its full fury had not until then broke loose in any nation and recalled to us an obligation to our country and our faith that could not in conscience be denied. In the days long gone, when we were neither Catholics nor reasoning rightly as to historic testimony, we were under that hallucination that sets many faces to look the wrong way for the right thing - equitable social relationships. Book From Czar to Bolshevik Classic Reprint

Download or read book From Czar to Bolshevik Classic Reprint written by Edward Percy Stebbing and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-03-20 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from From Czar to Bolshevik The study so made, as day by day the extraordinary kaleidoscopic events passed before the eyes, proved of absorbing interest, and left me deeply impressed with their extreme importance alike to this country and to Russia herself. The occurrences which led directly to the present position are set down in diary form in these pages. I have refrained from criticism. For the sequence of events appears to furnish its own answers to the thoughtful man. But in the national interests the diary has a further object. It is of the highest importance that the true causes for the present appalling condition of Russia should be understood, and the question be regarded with that breadth of view and the clarity and coolness in passing judgment with which our race has become credited by the foreigner. At present there is a strong feeling amongst the peoples of the Entente that Russia has let us in. That the loss of the Eastern front has proved a disaster of the first magnitude is obvious to all. As a direct consequence we are now engaged upon the greatest battle in history and fighting for our lives, or, which we value more, our national honour.
