Book 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS

Download or read book 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS written by Bobby Kimbrough and published by CarTech Inc. This book was released on 2017-04-17 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1969, the Camaro with the SS package took Chevy Camaro performance and styling to another level. First, the Camaro carried updated sheet metal for an aggressive and eye-catching appearance, and the ultra-high-performance 427 big-block engines were available for the first time. As history proved, 1969 was the pinnacle of performance and styling for the first-generation Chevy Camaro. Author and muscle car expert Robert Kimbrough provides a comprehensive examination of the all-time classic 1969 Camaro SS in Volume No. 4 of CarTech's In Detail series. He delves into the design, manufacturing, and equipment of Chevrolet's premier pony car. For the first time in its history, the 1969 Camaro SS had a full slate of high-performance small-blocks as well as big-blocks to conquer the competition on the street and track. The engines included the 350, 375-hp 396, and 425-hp COPO 427 Camaros. The Camaro SS made such an impression, that it became the Indy 500 Pace Car once again in 1969. All In Detail Series books include an introduction and historical overview, an explanation of the design and concepts involved in creating the car, a look at marketing and promotion, and an in-depth study of all hardware and available options, as well as an examination of where the car is on the market today. Also included is an appendix of paint and option codes, VIN and build-tag decoders, as well as production numbers.

Book Opel GT Ultimate Portfolio 1968 1973

Download or read book Opel GT Ultimate Portfolio 1968 1973 written by and published by Brooklands Books Limited. This book was released on 2007-05-01 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the 1960s GM decided that a change of image would improve sales of the Opel, so designers and engineers were imported from the US to give the German company a shot in the arm and one of the results was the Opel GT which made its debut at Frankfurt in 1965. It was seen as a sort of European Corvette - a high-performance two-seater with dramatic styling. The Opel GT was never a very big seller and in 1973 its manufacturers withdrew it from the market altogether. In five years of production, just 103,463 cars had been sold, of which 37,726 had been the Model 77 for the US market. These low sales had also discouraged the company from producing right-hand drive models. In some ways, the GT is better appreciated now than it was when new and the articles in this collection show that Opel GTs appeal to a wide variety of enthusiasts today.

Book 1970 Plymouth Superbird

Download or read book 1970 Plymouth Superbird written by Geoff Stunkard and published by CarTech Inc. This book was released on 2018-04-16 with total page 97 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Petty signs with Ford!" Those four words tore through the racing world like a hot knife through butter while loyalists threw their hands up in disbelief. King Richard's defection was in part because Plymouth hadn't built a Dodge Daytona counterpart for the NASCAR circuit, in addition to the fact that Petty Enterprises wanted to be the sole racing parts distributor for Plymouth at the time. Plymouth weathered the backlash publically while privately scurrying to create a car to lure Richard back to Plymouth. That car? The 1970 Plymouth Superbird. Production models languished on salesroom floors due in part to NASCAR having increased the homologation requirement from 500 units to 2,000. These cars were highly specialized, seen as being in excess in proportion to the hottest street cars of the period. Fast-forward to today, Superbirds are highly collectible and are the star attractions at car shows and auctions, pulling top dollar and generating real excitement. What a difference a few decades makes! Each volume in the In Detail Series provides an introduction and historical overview, an explanation of the design and concepts involved in creating the car, a look at marketing and promotion, an in-depth study of all hardware and available options, and an examination of where the car is on the market today. Also included are paint and option codes, VIN and build tag decoders, as well as production numbers.
