Download or read book The Day the Angels Cried written by Larry Linam and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2010 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Day the Angels Cried tells the story of an event that made history in the United States of America on June 22, 1980 when a gunman entered the worship services of the First Baptist Church of Daingerfield, Texas. In a matter of minutes, five people lay dead and ten others wounded with hundreds of innocent people wondering if they might be next to face the horror of death at the hand of a madman. For Larry Linam, it was a day that changed his life forever. It was during this worship service that he lost his first born child, Mary Regina Linam, his seven year old daughter. He uses the book to convey the emotions of anger, fear, hatred, and revenge that consumed his life for more than two decades while maintaining a working lifestyle to care for his family. He was living a life torn by a faith in God and a fear that justice would not be served by the courts. The events that unfold in his book as he bears his heart and soul leads the reader on a journey of a downward spiral brought about by depression, anger, and devastation as he makes attempts to exact vengeance upon the murderer of his child and upon the family of the murderer as well. The journey will also lead the reader into the joy and recovery that is found when hope is restored through faith in God and friends that never gave up on Larry Linam. He shares how finding forgiveness and giving forgiveness dispelled the darkness in his life and allowed him to tell the story to thousands and the desire to share with more that God's purpose for believers in Jesus Christ is the most important thing for anyone facing life's challenges.
Download or read book The Sun Rose and Angels Cried written by Willie G and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2019-09-03 with total page 171 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The story you are about to read is true; yes, there are "stretchers" strewn about, but the basic story is all too real. This story is told through the eyes of Lorraine's little brother, Poncho, and what he was going through at the time. ***** Every morning when I wake up, my sister, Lorraine, invades my mind. There's nothing I can do to stop it. It wasn't always that way. At one time, the only thought I had when awakened in the morning was that I did not want to be awakened. I hated having to get up. How did this happen? I don't know, and there isn't a doctor in the world who can say they know definitively. If they claim they know, they're not telling the truth. I do know this: it started sometime after my sister became pregnant. She did not know what to do. And at that time in our history in the '60s and early '70s, what to do was simple enough""marry the guy who knocked you up. For my sister, and I'm sure for many other women, it was not that simple. Abortion""to most, it's either a bad thing or a good thing; it's good versus evil. It's God versus Satan. I've heard that abortion is a social concern. I've heard that abortion is an economic concern. I've heard that abortion is a religious concern. I've heard that abortion is a convenience, and that's a concern. I've heard that abortion is a stigma, and that's a concern. I've heard that abortion is murder, plain and simple. I've heard that abortion is a woman's right; after all, it's her body, plain and simple. But it's not so simple, is it? In the '60s and early '70s abortion was illegal. And having one was dangerous unless you had access to the right people. And having access to the right people usually meant you had money""and lots of it. You were paying for a service and to have that service kept secret. My family was not rich. Then came Roe v. Wade and abortion became legal. But legal doesn't mean acceptable. You see, accepting something that was unacceptable, especially morally unacceptable, takes time. For an individual, it may take no more time than a ride to the clinic; but for groups, it takes time""days, weeks, months, years. This I call "delayed acceptance." Still, for some, acceptance never comes. When I wake up in the morning, I think about my sister's decision. And I wonder if she made the decision. And I wonder something more nefarious. Did someone decide for her? And I wonder if things would have been different if Roe v. Wade had been there in time.

Book excerpt: French in 1986, is now available in Arthur Denner's fluid and sensitive English translation. Predictably, Poizat's route is not at all a conventional one. Rather than taking as his point of departure the intentions of composers and librettists, he is primarily concerned with the expectations and desires of the audience. He reports on an informal group interview with overnight standees on the Paris Opera House steps as they compare notes on how opera became an addiction.

Download or read book The Yellow Jeep Stories and Songs written by Joel Vernon Smith and published by Author House. This book was released on 2005-01-07 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Joel Vernon Smith invites you to watch while life unfolds for entities we’ll never meet, in settings far from our day-to-day locales. Each character is someone we once loved. Or we wish we could have loved. Or perhaps we seek merely to understand her. A sensitive teen takes his dad’s memory for a ride in a new four-wheel-drive in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. A married couple shares a traumatic memory of a decaying barn. A passionate duo learns that their ship is doomed. A wealthy college student argues with his girlfriend when a draft notice arrives. A mentally-troubled elderly woman claims a friendship with a man of smoke. Frightful demons force a man to do a dark tunnel-dance in front of a stalled bus. The author of The Rapists bids you to explore the lives of mostly-gentle human beings as they deal with feelings of love or the arrival of unexpected horror. If it’s true (as a late-sixties song suggests) that words of love won’t win a girl’s heart anymore, perhaps the reader should open this book and take a journey to somewhere she’s never been before. The ride will be exciting.
Download or read book The Voyage of Kings written by IronHorse and published by Ironhorse Illuminated Industries. This book was released on 2011-07-04 with total page 197 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A wing-swept journey through the Universe, beginning in the heart of a 'fallen angel' called Ever, as he wanders through the chances and circumstances of humanity, as he drifts within the vast emptiness of his abandonment and exile among the stars, along with all the far-reaching consequences his self-serving pursuit of an ideal has brought to bear upon all Creation, and especially upon his beloved Always, whose tears are the river of this tale . . . A journey that unfolds around his surrender to a spiritual awakening, and ends with his discovery and final embrace of a remarkably simple notion - when fools set out to find what they already possess, they discover only the follies of men . . . Born of an ancient yet unremembered legend, a fairy's tale, old as rhyme and even Time itself, captured in the echoes of uncountable voices across the millennia, comes an achingly beautiful love story, wrapped in the mists and myths of a place called Avalon, and whispering of the mysteries and majesties of God . . . A thoroughly unique collection of short stories and lyrical prose, called DoveTales, that weave an amazing trilogy of dreams into the most vibrant threads of faith, courage, and devotion, which are all then so cleverly crafted to become a glorious tapestry of love, loss, and the triumph of love, again . . . as seen through the eyes of Angels, as they peer into the very hearts and souls of those who always seem to search for Glory, when all they really ever need, is Grace . . . And who might enjoy reading The Voyage of Kings ~ A StoryTeller's Dream? Demographically speaking, any female between the ages of 9 and 90; any male between those very same benchmarks who would like to get to know those females (who now have a remarkably heightened view of themselves after reading it, and a whole new set of standards for those males to measure up to) . . . anyone possessing even a small spark of spiritual insight or inclination, and would be open to considering a vastly simple concept of where they might fit in the grand scheme of things, and the quite attainable realities of their role within it . . . anyone possessing a sense of wonder, and a welcoming regard for a heavenly presence in their world, along with the acknowledgement and embrace of the more compassionate virtues such as patience, tolerance, acceptance and forgiveness, with all respect given to uplifting the human condition beyond measure . . . anyone seeking a remarkably different view of ~mankind, as it relates to womankind~; a dramatically elevated concept regarding the Feminine Ideal and its divine or spiritual significance . . . that will turn all male-dominated religious biases and historically gender-centric portrayals of a woman's place, position or importance in the pantheon of God's cast of characters, on its collective head . . . anyone seeking inspirational, lyrical, romantic, or poetic verse or prose, and wishes to explore alternative expressions of inspired, enlightened, theological, or purpose-driven thought . . . are fully cognizant and accepting of a Christian paradigm of living, and believe that when our creative knowledge embraces our artistic desires, we can achieve global understanding . . .
