Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This newest addition to the American Bottom Archaeology series reports on the Dash Reeves site, an extensive Middle Woodland habitation site that represents a major floodplain village and locality for the production of stone tools. The village area consists of clusters of pits and a dense refuse heap containing hundreds of diagnostic Middle Woodlands artifacts: an extensive collection of lamellar blades and blade cores, projectile points, Hill Lake ceramics, a diversity of flake, blade, and core tools, and several exotic Hopewell-like pieces, including earspool and human figurine fragments. Inhabited between 150 A.D. and 300 A.D., during the Hill Lake phase, Dash Reeves appears to have been an important locus of interaction with peoples far to the south. The production of blades at Dash Reeves, especially those made of local colorful red and blue Ste. Genevieve cherts, possibly served as the focal point of a far-reaching blade-exchange system in the Midwest. America, the American Bottom Archaeology series documents the excavation of sites affected by the construction of Interstate Highway 270 on the Mississippi River floodplain in Illinois counties across the river from St. Louis. The series is cosponsored by the Federal Highway Administration and the Illinois Department of Transportation. Volumes on individual sites are supplemented by a summary volume on the FAI-270 Project's contribution to the culture history of the Mississippi River Valley.

Book The Dash Between

Download or read book The Dash Between written by Richard Colyer and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2017-03-27 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Mr. Colyer taught literature, he often told personal stories that had some bearing on what his students were studying. His students loved these stories as he often heard “Mr. Colyer, tell us another story!” So when he retired, he decided to record these stories so his progeny would know more about him than what was on a tombstone—name, birthdate, death date, and the dash between. This book is his dash between. 1942–? Richard Colyer had three goals as a teacher: to entertain, to educate, and to inspire. He figured that if he entertained his students, he would get their attention; and if he got their attention, he could educate them; and if he educated them, perhaps he could inspire them as well. Those same three goals are attempted in this story-telling autobiography—to entertain, educate, and inspire the reader. Much twentieth-century history is revealed in this book, and Mr. Colyer has provided some commentary on the significance of some of these events as he has interpreted them. It is his hope that as people read this, they will be inspired to write their own “dash between.”

Book Everyday Dash Diet Cookbook

Download or read book Everyday Dash Diet Cookbook written by Martha Stone and published by Martha Stone. This book was released on 2014-11-21 with total page 37 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Eating is one of the greatest pleasures of our lives. Our eating habits greatly affect our health. Everyone deserves a balanced and nutritious diet to spend a healthy life. However, due to obvious reasons, it is very difficult to overcome temptations towards certain diets rich in sodium and cholesterol which ultimately result in developing high blood pressure or hypertension. Once developed, hypertension can easily be controlled by adopting a diet plan known as DASH diet (dietary approaches to stop hypertension). In this DASH diet cookbook I have provided you with collection of DASH diet recipes which, if followed, can ultimately lead towards controlling the high blood pressure and hypertension. These DASH diet recipes are easy to cook and take very less time in preparation. They are nutritious, energetic, tempting and exotic. With slight variations in ingredients and inclusion of substitutes, you hardly feel trailing an unfamiliar diet program. So this DASH diet cookbook provides a diet plan very close to regular diet. At last, as they say, prevention is better than cure, therefore, DASH program is a must to be followed by all.
