Book The D and E Regions

Download or read book The D and E Regions written by William Swider and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The chemistry of the E-region is fairly well understood and even many of the dynamical complications of this region have been successfully modeled on individual bases. Some of the major remaining problems of this region are discussed, in particular the nitric oxide concentration, a gas affecting the ratio of the two major E-region ions, O2(+) and NO(+). The D-region is much simpler than the E-region from a dynamical point of view but extremely much more complex from a chemical standpoint. Recent results from a study of the D-region under bombardment by solar protons is emphasized.

Book Analysis of Low Latitude D and E Region Data

Download or read book Analysis of Low Latitude D and E Region Data written by Robert D. Sears and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A technique for determining the electron density profile in the E-region from group path, phase path, amplitude and true height analysis data is described. A selected data period, 1600 to 2100 GMT on 15 to 19 October, is summarized in the detailed reduction and analysis of the individual data obtained from the different measurement techniques. One period of detailed electron density profile computation is presented. The period 1700 to 1800 GMT on October 1962 also included a moderately intense solar flare so that the excess ionization caused by the flare in the lower ionosphere may be observed. The true height analyses which are developed are extensions of the true height analyses of the F-region and serve to extend conventional true height analysis to lower altitudes or lower electron densities than possible from the conventional analyses alone. The data were obtained utilizing ionosondes, a three frequency HF propagation measurement of both phase and amplitude and riometer measurements of cosmic noise absorption. To develop the profiles presented herein, the group height records from ionograms and phase height measurements from the HF experiment were used.

Book Contemporary Topics in Molecular Immunology

Download or read book Contemporary Topics in Molecular Immunology written by R. Reisfeld and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This series was originally entitled Contemporary Topics in Immunochemistry, and Volume 1 bearing that name was published. Upon its editorial review and while charting the development of future volumes, the editors began to sense that the word "Immunochemistry" was somewhat restrictive according to its present interpretation. Accompanying the expansion of knowledge in immuno biology is a demand for explanations in molecular terms. Since the intent of the series is to focus attention on research at the molecular level in any aspect of immunology, the editors and publisher felt the term "Immunochemistry" should be replaced with "Molecular Immunology." Thus, the series now bears a revised appellation, Contemporary Topics in Molecular Immunology. The editors feel this more accurately reflects the intended breath of the series. An apology is offered to writers, librarians, and other catalogers for the inconvenience this change will cause. F. P. Inman General Editor Athens, Georgia March,1973 vii Preface The earliest explorers into immunology were at once confronted by myriad molecular riddles which became increasingly complex as immunochemical tech niques resolved one question only to raise scores of others. Even as our knowledge of cellular immunology was growing remarkably fast, during the past two decades exciting experiments delineated the molecular structure of immuno globulins. These joint advances not only shaped the Gestalt of present-day immunology, but paved the way for an incisive molecular approach to the challenges of research.

Book Biology of the Mouse Histocompatibility 2 Complex

Download or read book Biology of the Mouse Histocompatibility 2 Complex written by J. de Klein and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 614 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Somewhere I heard a story of a bridge and a painter. The bridge was enormous and was made all of metal, and the painter's job was to keep it from rusting. He would start at one end and slowly proceed, day by day, month by month, toward the other end, painting the bridge. But no sooner would he finish with the painting than the bridge would begin to rust again. The rust, too, would start at one end and slowly proceed toward the other end, systematically destroying the painter's endeavor. And so the painter would return to where he had started, and begin painting again, slowly proceeding toward the other end of the bridge, always just one step ahead of the rust. And if the story is true, the painter might still be painting that bridge-a modern Sisyphus! During the writing of this book, the story of the painter and his bridge kept coming to mind. The field the book covers has been developing so rapidly that, like the painter, I too had to return to where I had started and fight the rust of obsolescence. But unlike the painter, I had a deadline to meet, which constituted a point of no return. And so, sending off this manuscript, I have no choice but to watch the fruits of my endeavor be overtaken by the rust.

Book A Three dimensional Ionospheric Model Using Observed Ionospheric Parameters

Download or read book A Three dimensional Ionospheric Model Using Observed Ionospheric Parameters written by Charles M. Rush and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An electron density model, which permits a three-dimensional specification of the ionospheric structure, has been developed. The model generates realistic electron density profiles in the altitude range from 100 to 800 km by making use of selected ionospheric parameters that are routinely observed. The model also allows for the calculation of the electron distribution over the entire path of propagation of a radio signal by employing a synoptic mapping technique. The mapping technique enagles ionospheric parameters observed at specific locations to be extended and extrapolated to regions where data are not normally accessible. The electron densities that are computed are done in a manner that is totally consistent with the observed parameters needed to generate the profiles. (Author).

Book New Technology and Regional Development

Download or read book New Technology and Regional Development written by Bert Van Der Knapp and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2003-08-16 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First Published in 2004. Since the second half of the seventies, a period of economic recession, a growing interest for technological change can be noticed in all ‘old’ industrial countries. The reason for this phenomenon is the conviction that the economic future of these countries will depend to a large degree on their ability to create new products and processes and to make these commercially viable. Hence the stimulation and subsidising of all kinds of Research and Development (R&D) activities by the governments of these countries. Against this background it was certainly not unexpected that the IGU Commisson on Industrial Change, presided by Godfrey Linge, decided to organise a congress on ‘Technology and Industrial Change.’ This congress was held in August 1985 at Nijmegen in the Netherlands. In this book some of the papers presented there are published. We are very happy that we were allowed to include the very interesting contributions of the representatives of Philips in Eindhoven and of the European Commission in Brussels.

Book Atmospheric and Space Sciences Ionospheres and Plasma Environments

Download or read book Atmospheric and Space Sciences Ionospheres and Plasma Environments written by Erdal Yiğit and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-07-07 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The SpringerBriefs on Atmospheric and Space Sciences in two volumes presents a concise and interdisciplinary introduction to the basic theory, observation & modeling of atmospheric and ionospheric coupling processes on Earth. The goal is to contribute toward bridging the gap between meteorology, aeronomy, and planetary science. In addition recent progress in several related research topics, such atmospheric wave coupling and variability, is discussed. Volume 1 will focus on the atmosphere, while Volume 2 will present the ionospheres and the plasma environments. Volume 2 is aimed primarily at (research) students and young researchers that would like to gain quick insight into the basics of space sciences and current research. In combination with the first volume, it also is a useful tool for professors who would like to develop a course in atmospheric and space physics.
