Book excerpt: The Creator is a story born of imagination. In my eternal journey through these lands, I learned what it is to enjoy, laugh, suffer and cry, I had joys and ventures, I also saw the enjoyment and suffering of half the world, moreover, I have seen the suffering of many thousands and the enjoy of few, looking at the sky I asked many questions, but never find an answer, taking my own initiative I intend to witness the beginning of the Apocalypse, I intend to contribute to this event. With little knowledge of religious events, drag characters that marked milestones in the biblical story, put them on the way to save the world where we live, a world called "land" to which a man named Pedro wants to call "paradise." The man called Pedro has a second chance in his life, in his impotence of facing so much abuse, he tries to mediate with the creator, he also asks many questions to this one, who only responds "so I do things, nobody can reproach me" "non-mortal dare to disobey," "so would his design" "so he did and so it will be forever", because that is his law. Peter does not agree, "you are wrong" "you seem to hate your subjects" "you make a good soul suffer and you give pleasure to the perverse soul" he continues saying "your believers are losing faith in you", they are losing faith in the "creator". That seems to matter little to the creator who only strives to punish the one who dares to challenge his will. The man named Pedro, ignoring the creator's request, launches himself towards the earth, his task, ridding it of evil, he will not be alone, a lot of Angels go with him. As the creator can not avoid his decision he covers them with his grace, he asks not to commit the same error of the fallen angels, he asks that they teach to love their neighbor, but that is not the intention of Pedro, he will be more severe in his desire to make the earth a paradise.

A hugely ambitious chronicle of the arts that Boorstin delivers with the scope that made his Discoverers a national bestseller. Even as he tells the stories of such individual creators as Homer, Joyce, Giotto, Picasso, Handel, Wagner, and Virginia Woolf, Boorstin assembles them into a grand mosaic of aesthetic and intellectual invention. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the creation of the comic book, cases of legal conflict and confusion have often arisen where concepts such as public domain, unincorporated entities and moral rights are involved. As a result, comics creators are frequently concerned about whether they are protecting themselves. There are many questions and no single place to find the answers--that is, until now. Entertaining as it instructs, this book seeks to provide those answers, examining the legal history of comics and presenting information in a way that is understandable to everyone. While not seeking to provide legal advice, this book presents the legal background in plain English, and looks at the stories behind the cases. Every lawsuit has a story and every case has lessons to be learned. As these lessons are explored, the reader will learn the importance of contracts, the basics of copyright and trademark, the precautions necessary when working with public domain characters and the effects of censorship.

Book Nietzsche Trauma and Overcoming

Download or read book Nietzsche Trauma and Overcoming written by Uri Wernik and published by Vernon Press. This book was released on 2018-01-15 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Nietzsche Trauma and Overcoming " shows that Nietzsche suffered from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and most probably was a victim of childhood sex abuse. I bring convincing evidence from his texts to support these claims, along with a discussion of corroborating psychological findings on these issues. I show that he teaches coping with pain and suffering, based on his life experience, with lessons from the school of war, the wisdom of reinterpretation, and artistic activity. His three themes of the Superman, Eternal Recurrence, and the Will to Power, the heart of his philosophy and psychology, are understood in a new light, in relation to his personal suffering and overcoming. The book criticizes the attempts to diagnose Nietzsche as suffering from various psychiatric disorders, psychoanalyze him as a fatherless child grown old, and outing him as a closet homosexual. These approaches lead to a dead-end. Firstly, it is impossible to prove that someone is a paragon of mental health, not a covert homosexual, and unmoved by a parent’s death. Secondly, these speculations explain only a small part of Nietzsche’s personal statements, found in his writings. Thirdly, and most importantly, they do not change our understanding of his ideas and how they were arrived at; they do not increase our appreciation of him; and do not leave us with any lessons for life (the goal of any good writing according to Nietzsche).

Book Women Warriors and National Heroes

Download or read book Women Warriors and National Heroes written by Boyd Cothran and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2020-02-20 with total page 391 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is open access and available on www.bloomsburycollections.com. It is funded by Knowledge Unlatched. This volume presents women warriors and hero cults from a number of cultures since the early modern period. The first truly global study of women warriors, individual chapters examine figures such as Joan of Arc in Cairo, revenging daughters in Samurai Japan, a transgender Mexican revolutionary and WWII Chinese spies. Exploring issues of violence, gender fluidity, memory and nation-building, the authors discuss how these real or imagined female figures were constructed and deployed in different national and transnational contexts. Divided into four parts, they explore how women warriors and their stories were created, consider the issue of the violent woman, discuss how these female figures were gendered, and highlight the fate of women warriors who live on. The chapters illustrate the ways in which female fighters have figured in nation-building stories and in the ordering or re-ordering of gender politics, and give the history of women fighters a critical edge. Exploring women as military actors, women after war, and the strategic use of women's stories in national narratives, this intellectually innovative volume provides the first global treatment of women warriors and their histories.
